History

Established in 2010.

Hub City Fencing Academy opened its doors in August of 2010. Since then, we have worked hard to raise the community awareness of fencing as a modern, viable, Olympic sport. It’s founders dreamed of opening a fencing club in Central Jersey for many years, and are proud of the success the club has found so far. We have welcomed so many people who are new to fencing, and it is inspiring to see their passion for the sport ignite. We look forward to expanding in the coming years, and we hope that you will join us on that journey!

Meet the Business Owner

Rich B.

Business Owner

Rich began fencing 15 years ago and immediately began questioning coaches and referees to understanding the underpinnings, logic, and nuances of sabre fencing. Rich fenced for Somerville High School under the instruction of Harry James, and was coached by Ralph Bellantoni. After coaching and assisting at various YMCAs and Recreation programs, he took a break to work in the supply side of fencing. Not long after, he returned to coaching at The Lawrenceville School. It was there, along with his fellow Hub City coaches, that he turned promising students who had no time for private coaches or outside lessons in to Prep State Champions.
