History

Established in 1955.

First and second generation owners, David and Samuel, founded Derby Appliances, Inc. and opened their first store in Highland Park, New Jersey, in 1956. In 1968, we moved to our current location, 1599 Lincoln Highway (Route 27) in Edison.

In the summer of 2008, we opened our second store at 401 Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick. Located in an Urban Enterprise Zone, we are able to offer customers 3.5% sales tax on all in-​store purchases.

Business Owner

After working for his grandfather (David) and father (GL Sam) as a teenager, Mark officially joined the Derby staff in 1981. In 1993, Mark stepped into the role of President. Throughout his time at Derby, from deliveryman to salesman to owner, Mark’s goal has always been the same: to ensure the customer receives the best quality service. Whether you’re browsing our website, shopping in one of our stores, or using your new appliance in your home, it’s Mark’s priority to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience and are completely satisfied with the service you receive. If any issues should arise, Mark is always there to ensure that the customer receives immediate assistance and a solution to their problem.

Outside of the store, Mark enjoys attending baseball games. He is also an active supporter of local schools, athletics, religious institutions and organizations such as MIPH and the Girl Scouts of America.
