Luis P.

Business Owner

Luis Raul Poveda is a Latin American conceptual artist from New Jersey born on November 10, 1987. He received his B.F.A from Kean University where he studied Studio Art and Art History. Poveda’s works debuted during the National Arts Program Exhibition in 2012. His first solo exhibition was held at the Nancy Dryfoos Gallery on May 2014.

I’ve gone to different paint and sips and this one by far was the most fun. Most of the places are very chill and relaxing. This one had more of a party vibe with upbeat hip hop/​pop music blasting They even give you a gold wristband when you enter. The entire atmosphere is so much fun and energizing. The instructor was so hilarious and a good instructor. He wore a mic so we could hear him. Even though we were in the back, there were tv screens that showed what was going on in the front in case we couldn’t see. The décor was modern and beautiful. I loved the lighting. I went with coworkers for a girls night out but it is definitely a great place for a birthday party and they definitely make you feel special. They are so accommodating and I would definitely go back!

I went to Canvas and Grapes a few weeks back to celebrate a friend’s birthday. There were four of us. I was so impressed with the studio. It had a cool, NYC vibe with great décor and chill music piped in. The customer service was amazing. So much attention was paid to detail and we all felt welcomed and comfortable. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Really nice place with a really great atmosphere! The reason for the three stars is the brushes were really used and not in good repair and there were too many breaks! The class started late and ended late which was a result of what seemed like poor planning.
In spite of this, I would definitely go back and I recommend this place.

A great time for almost any type of occasion. I went on the opening night and I definitely plan to go again. The instructors are amazing and they really help make your time great while being there. The company seems to be really progressive because they are consistently adding new artworks to paint. Very fair with pricing. I am probably the least artistic person but I guarantee you will feel like an artist once you are done and bring home your painting. I now have an amazing artwork that I have hung up in my room, I am very glad I tried this new experience.

I went to this place with my girlfriend not too long ago. I have to admit it was one of the most pleasant experiences I can recently recall having. The staff is fun and bursting with personality. They take great care to ensure that each guest has an amazing experience. The staff is also very skilled at painting and teaching their guests how to paint an interesting portrait. I will continue to go back to this place anytime I want to have an enjoyable experience. That I know is guaranteed.

I had my sister’s birthday here with 18 women and we had a blast. From the moment we walked in, there was music playing, a host to help us, a table for our BYOB (they had buckets filled with ice and bottle openers), they provide the wine glasses, and plates and napkins for the snacks you bring. And there was no rush: they let us schmooze and then they started the 3 hour painting of a lovely beach scene. There were threee assistants walking around to help with the painting (and help you cheat if, like me, you have no artistic talent!)and there were some breaks provided so you could stretch your legs and get more wine and snacks. The studio was beautifully decorated: the owner’s (Luis Poveda) sculptures were overhead and all the walls were full of paintings. It seems like a family-​owned business since Homer (Luis’s Dad who is an artist) was helping me. I highly recomment this place which is very convenient if you have people coming from all different directions as I did. It is near Rt. 1 and near the turnpike. The owner emailed me pictures of the party a few days later. His prices are a bit lower than some other paint and sips and his laid-​back niceness was a refreshing difference than some of the other paint and sip owners who seemed a little pushy and not about the art. Luis is a true artist. The best thing is that your guests leave with a life-​long memory and a painting to look at every day. It’s great for every age. My 87 year old mother painted a picture. Have a party here!

So much fun! I’ve taken 3 classes with canvas and grapes, all with different groups of friends. The environment and the instructors are so welcoming & comical– they never disappoint. So much fun; they make it so easy and enjoyable, great for group gatherings (I bought my family for Mother’s Day and my mother and mother in law still rave about it). I can’t rave about this facility enough. Definitely a favorite
