Established in 1975.

Tim Murphy, owner of Murphy Automotive was born with motor oil in his veins. A Minnesota native, Tim’s early years were influenced by his father’s ownership and involvement with the automotive wholesale parts business.

At age 20, working as a technician, then as manager of the Franklin & Nicollet 76 service station, Tim’s automotive future was determined. With his father’s support as co-​signer, Tim became a lease/​dealer and opened his first Mobil service station at 46th & Nicollet.

Tim envisioned a premier ‘full service’ automotive repair facility with staff and equipment superior to any car dealership. Tim made his vision a reality. The culmination of one man’s ongoing commitment to total car care and quality customer service. This is how ProTech Automotive, Grandview Tire & Auto, Edina Tire & Auto, and Edina Car Wash came to be.

Grandview always takes great care of my old Toyota truck. I have used Grandview for may years, for both oil changes and major repairs — They’ve always proven to be honest, friendly, courteous, & efficient — I would recommend them to anyone.

I’ve been living in the cities for over 5 years now and am from a small town in Iowa. It’s been hard to find a car place that doesn’t take advantage of people who aren’t car savvy, like myself. I’m used to taking my car to one of the local shops and walking in and them knowing my name and never having to worry about them taking advantage of me or my situation.
I have been looking to find a place that has: good customer service, stand behind their work and doesn’t charge me more than they should (integrity.)
I recently hit a raccoon and had to pull over on the side of the highway so my car wouldn’t overheat. something was definitely not okay on my car! after sitting there and googling what to do I found out I was only going to be able to drive a mile before I totally ruined my car. Again, turning to google I found Grandview was within a mile of my location. Never heard of the place but it was my only option.
So as sheer «luck“would have it I took it here and was BLOWN AWAY by: how they handled the situation, their timeliness and how thorough they were.
****PLEASE NOTE: I didn’t actually have anything done with my car at this location as they do not offer any body work services so I needed to go through my insurance at a different shop.
However all of this happened right before I was leaving on vacation and my car wasn’t drive-​able. Even though they weren’t going to be doing the repairs they worked with my insurance adjuster to have her come in and do an estimate and then with the tow company to get my car to a different shop! All of this happened seamlessly while I was on vacation.
Bottom line: these guys are legit. Their customer service is unparalleled and they are thoughtful, having their customers well being before their bottom line. BRAVO!
Note: after I get my car serviced here I will update my review — at this point I can’t imagine taking my car anywhere else.

I have recently moved back to the Twin Cities. One of the first things I did was search for a go-​to auto shop to keep my 2002 Highlander up-​and-​running. Initially, I found Grandview Tire & Auto via AAA. I’ve been there for oil changes, tire purchases, and most recently, a timing belt replacement. Although the cost of the last service was high, I also found it to be fair. The desk staff is always courteous, the drivers friendly who gave me a ride home and then picked me up when my car was ready, and the technicians are ASA Certified. I’m pleased with the work Grandview Tire & Auto personnel have done on my car. I plan to return there for other auto services I might need, and I recommend them to others.

I recently went here for an oil change, on the recommendation of a friend. It’s a little out of the way for me, but her words for these guys were so glowing that I had to check it out. I was in an out in less than 20 minutes. The waiting room has comfortable chairs, and the big windows let in lots of light.
Everyone there was super friendly. They smile, and they look you in the eye (unlike a lot of the folks at other quick oil changes places I’ve been to). They answered my questions. They didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. They gave me a new customer discount, and gave me a coupon for my next oil change, as well. (Even without the discount, the price was very reasonable, but the coupon was icing on the cake!) That kind of service makes you feel like a valued guest, and I appreciate that.
I will definitely be back!

Got my snow tires rotated at 50th and Vernon Yesterday Monday May 5th. I called the shop at 7:30 and was greeted by Josh. I schedule two trips to this shop once in the spring and once in the late fall. Josh remembers me from October 2013. He can do the car today and will dispatch a guy to pick up my tires. I arrive at 10 am and they get me out by 10:30 am. This is the best service you can ever hope to find and best price. Plus it’s a family friendly environment with reception for small children. Glad I found this shop cause I can keep my sunny disposition. Thanks Josh I truly feel we are friends.

After speaking with triple A, the manager asked if I would call him and we spoke about the situation. In the end, I received a credit for the labor for the mysterious broken switch and the sent me a card for a free oil change.

BEST AUTO EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!
I’ve only been there twice now but both times they were very fast and efficient, and give a free car wash with their oil changes! They are the most down to earth and friendly team I have seen but yet they are still very professional… I like that they don’t treat me like a «dumb girl» or an idiot that knows nothing about cars (which is the truth lol.)

I chose this place because it was close to work, but it’s really a great place to get work done.
Not only are they reasonably priced, but they are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Another major bonus is that if you live or work 5 miles from their shop, they will give you a ride to work and pick you up when your car is ready!
I also like how I can access all my service information and receipts online. Very handy! I also get a free car wash when I go.
People there are friendly, the waiting area is clean with decent magazines and wi-​fi, and when I checked in on Unilocal I got a $ 10 off coupon I wasn’t expecting!
I totally recommend this place.

Stopped in today to have my tires rotated (free since I bought them there) and have them check my squeaky brakes. Breaks turned out to be fine and they did the work while I waited — about 20 minutes.
On top of this thorough, speedy service, they even vacuumed the car and washed the rubber mats (a great boost to my winter-​weary spirit) PLUS they gave me a free car wash (as they do with any service). It was a great surprise to see the clean floor mats and is a great example of their service — oriented approach.
These guys are great — friendly, helpful, no high-​pressure sales pitches, just honest, old fashioned values. Give them a try.
