My wife and I took a walk around Bredesen with the Mayor of Edina. It is a great 2 mile walk around a beautiful park reserve. The walk was slower than we wanted, but Bredesen has a great trail for walking. I heard they are doing some work on the trail to connect it with the other side of 62 over the next couple of years. An awesome walking path that we do if we want a 5K away from the house. In the center of the park is a nature reserve that has a lot of animals as well.

The only thing the park is missing is a playground and a big field to play games in. Otherwise, it has great paved trails for biking/blading and running/walking, and some nice nature trails on the inside where you can see wildlife and get away from the city for a bit. I’d definitely pay extra to live within walking distance of this park.

From the website: «Bredesen Park is located off Vernon Avenue and Olinger Boulevard. Bredesen, a 206-acre park, features over two miles of walking, jogging and biking paths that surround Nine Mile Creek. The bike path is 2.1 miles in length and the walking path is two miles. The park also includes bathrooms and drinking fountains. Nature trails weave through the center of the park, offering views of the creek and wildlife.» There’s not a whole lot going on here but the paths are nice. It’s 2 mi to walk or bike around the outside and 1.7 mi inside the park. The inside track would be great in the summertime but I’d only do the winter inside again with snowshoes. I cross country skied it once and it sucked. It’s not a groomed track, just whatever people can manage to pack down. I wouldn’t recommend it. This park is pretty close to our house though and I’m excited to go and hang out here this summer. There’s a lot of marsh so it would be great for seeing wildlife.
