Ace Hardware

Went in today and had fantastic service from everyone. I appreciate the help, a lot. The selections are small though so stick to Ace for basic supplies.

I really like the customer service and shopping experience at Ace, so this experience came as a surprise and a complete let-​down. There was one stand-​out employee that went out of his way to be rude and inconsiderate.
I went in to have a lock re-​keyed. After waiting close to 20 minutes for somebody to help me (which I was totally ok with) the employee came by to help me out. Everything about his actions indicated that he was inconvenienced to have to do this. He was flat out rude and arrogant. After almost breaking my lock and needing assistance from a competent employee, he asked me if I had bought the locks at that location. I told him that I believe I had — but he went ahead and charge me the $ 10!!! anyway. What a complete D*ck. I’ll go out of my way to avoid this store now, and not just because of the used needles in the parking lot. Way to go.

I stopped by Ace to find a specific hex nut needed to repair the hatch handle on my car. I came to this location after not getting much help at another Ace location. I first spoke to Will, who gave me a quick lesson on the different types of nuts available and then walked me out to my car to take a closer look at the hatch handle. He tried several sizes, to no avail, and when another customer came in to ask for his help specifically, Will called over Bruce, another associate, to help me. Bruce took the time to go through the dozens of different sizes in the store. I was clueless to the fact that there were so many options and they were both very patient with me. I finally was able to pry the hatch handle off so they wouldn’t have to walk back and forth to see how the nuts fit, and when I did Bruce was able to find the right size immediately. Will and Bruce were incredibly helpful and the entire staff was very pleasant.

I came to the store at 7:55 and the door was shut and the cashier was letting out the customer after check out. When I asked what time you close she said 8pm. I said it’s not 8 yet. She very rudely snapped at me saying my computer says it’s 8 and my manager told me to close… and shut the door on my face. Never going back here.

Sometimes they have exactly what I need, and great customer service. Yet sometimes you can’t find help, and when you do it’s not the usually friendly service I’ve come to except from Ace.
Sadly I was in there the other day and the person helping me, knew little of what she was talking about. To her credit she did try to help to the best of her ability. She should have had someone from that department help me in the first place though.
I ended up going to Home Depot down Colfax and Teller. They had everything I needed, and the person helping me knew everything about what I needed.
Ace is great if you need a quick easy to get items in my opinion.

I have conflicted reviews about this Ace — I’ve left satisfied and frustrated on different occasions. This store has a very small selection… Of everything. One perk is that they have a post office, which you’re guaranteed to spend little to no time in line. The staff is friendly and helpful too. This Ace has a smaller cooking and garden section than most.

Very helpful staff and great prices. They also have lots of great coupons and deals.

The staff is wholly disinterested in working. Paint mixers have very little understanding of their job, tools or products. Feels like a government run enterprise with government workers milling about. Don’t waste your time here.

My husband and I had a plumbing issue that we realize now we were clueless about. Andrea at this store saved us from a lot of trouble and maybe costly mistakes. She went out of her way to help us. Really! We were able to spend a small amount to fix the problem and only had to make one trip! Thanks so much.

It’s a little more expensive that the big box stores, but you’re paying a bit of a premium for the proximity to your house and those friendly, helpful, smock-​wearing hardware geeks that follow you around the store. Even if you absolutely know what you’re doing and exactly what you need, it doesn’t hurt to talk to one of these guys/​girls about your project. They might have some obscure, valuable insight that will save you time and money.

This is a good hardware store. Better service than I’ve received at the other name brand hardware stores and most certainly better than Target/​Wal-​Mart.
They are a bit pricey on *some* items, but nothing too crazy. I did an all out price comparison assault between the internet pricing and Ace Hardware on about 50 items I needed for a project I was doing. ACE (and their 20% off sale) won about 50% of the time when stacked up against Amazon and the like, even when considering tax.
Pleasantly surprised with the service I received from this Ace Hardware. When I was doing said price comparison, one of the employees took it upon themselves to be our personal assistant for 45 minutes. Folks are always friendly and helpful when I go here.
I even placed a special order (with free ship to store) with no issues. My specially ordered products arrived on the very day they were promised.
Overall a good spot. I’ll be back.

I like Ace Hardware in general. You can usually find what you want and if you are lucky, can score some free popcorn as well. This particular location is very close to home and, as such, as saved my butt on numerous occasions. I have found the staff to be particularly helpful and I usually find what I need (if slightly more expensive than at other places). I will pay a bit more to not drive across town looking for a part and in my life, time is of the essence. Somehow, Ace feels less intimidating to me than a Home Depot or Lowe’s, so if I’m on my own I’ll usually head here first.

I had some seriously lousy customer service at this Ace location. I have shopped at this Ace several times, so I was quite surprised by this incident.
I was looking for a specific item on Ace Hardware’s website and it showed that they carried it at this location. I called the store to verify that they actually did before I drove down to be safe. Upon calling I was transferred to the correct department and put on hold while the clerk looked for the product. 5 minutes on hold turned into 10 minutes. Still holding. I hung up, cursed a few times, and called them back. When I called them back I was transferred to the same department, talked to the same guy, and was put on hold. Again. Around 5 minutes later I was told that «he» wasn’t sure what he was looking for. I said, «Hmm…well, your website says you have it in the store. Can you see what I’m talking about on the website? Or look it up by its name?» The clerk seemed puzzled by both of these questions and he wasn’t much help after that. I thanked him and decided I’d just drive over and check for myself.
I was at the store literally fifteen minutes later when I made my way back to the department to talk to the clerk. The item in question is not something used by a lot of people and I can’t imagine this guy thought I could have been a different person asking for it. I was really expecting some kind of acknowledgement of my two previous inquires within the half-​hour. That was not the case. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I was talking to the same «Clueless Joe.» I asked him to please look it up on their website to confirm they had it. After I helped him figure out how to do that, the website showed the item was in stock and at the store. He looked again and was unable to confirm or deny that they actually had the item. I felt like I was on an impossible scavenger hunt, so I left without my item and went to another store that was more helpful.
Maybe next time Ace will do me a kindness and make good on their motto as «the helpful place.»

I like that this store is so close to my current place; it makes for convenient trips when in need of home-​type stuff on the quick! Also, sometimes they run good deals on garden items, and canning items which I’ve recently fallen in love with. So I am a fan of that.
As others have mentioned, their prices are somewhat higher than your giganto Home Depot/Lowe’s stores. However, for me, they’re close by, not overwhelmingly huge (which can be a disadvantage because sometimes they don’t have what I’m looking for), and their customer service is superb. They also make keys faster than I’ve been able to have done at the Big Box place so that’s a plus as well.
And speaking of customer service, one of their Labor Day weekend sales was a good deal on canning jars. I went in on the first day of the sale and not a single case of the sale jars was left. I mentioned something to the clerk (more out of surprise that they sold out so fast, not upset), and without any further prompting she offered to call back to the truck that was unloading right then to see if they’d received anymore. Unfortunately they hadn’t, but then she said they could special order them for me, and because it was during the ad time I would still get them for that price (albeit after the long weekend — but that’s cool). I was taken aback by her going above and beyond, and it was much appreciated.
For basic stuff and usually a good deal or two to be had, check out Ace. They don’t always have the selection or the prices of the big stores, but their customer service more than makes up for that. And they have free popcorn on the weekends!

I’d give this Ace store 3 stars, but I have to add a 4^th because I just found out there’s a USPS desk in the back that’s open till 6pm weekdays. So awesome! The Ace itself is clean, well lit, organized and full of helpful staff. But my biggest complaint is that many things are just more expensive than Home Depot and even Lowe’s. I come here because it’s walking distance and always get the help I need, but can’t always find the item I need. And if I do, I usually leave grumbling because I know I overpaid. Yesterday I saw the exact same blue plastic wading pool I bought at Walmart for $ 15 for almost twice that. But I don’t want places like this to go out of business and be left with only Walmarts and Home Depots as options, so I will keep stopping in for that reason. And maybe for the free popcorn. It’s a lot less of a cluster getting in and out of Ace compared to the hassle of a big box/​warehouse store because it’s just smaller and a lot less crowded.

Always very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
No matter if you are remodeling your bathroom or just need some house keys copied– ACE is the Helpful Hardware place.
This location even has a Post Office in the back! Great for One Stop Shopping.

I like this store. CLose and well stocked, it is my first go to store when I need hardware. ANd they usually have it. Only a few times have they not stocked the items I need, and considering my wierd and esoteric needs in the hardware department, that isn’t unusual.
Clean and neat, easy to find your way around, I run in and run out with my purchases. Sadly, they do not stock much lumber, so I continue to patronise the big stores.

Ace has apparently decided that the way to set itself apart from the big-​box stores is to offer excellent customer service. The service at this store is amazing! I am always greeted when I walk in, and I always receive multiple offers of assistance as I am walking around. The employees will help you find everything you need for a project from start to finish. They seem to genuinely care about providing a good experience for their customers. Plus, they often serve munchies, and there is a post office right there in the store! Well done, Ace!

I feel queasy when I have to go somewhere like Home Depot. The overhead floodlights, the high isles, the smell of sawdust… I don’t like it. Even the lure of men walking around in tool belts and carrying heavy objects can’t cheer me up.
So, I was happy to learn an Ace hardware was in my neighborhood. I was even happier to receive amazing service on a Sunday morning.
I needed to pick up a few items and get some keys made, and though there were only two guys in the store they were running back and forth and radioing each other to make sure I could find everything I needed.
While the idea of free food at a place that sells things like toilet seat lids, doesn’t exactly whip me into a frenzy… they do give you free popcorn and BBQ free hot dogs outside on days when it is nice.
