Bak’s Upholstery

I would like to say that Mr. Bak did an incredible job on re upholstering my two cushions for my couch. I highly recommend his business.

There are a good number of cute, boutique-​ish upholstery businesses around town. They are not for me. When it comes to upholstery, I want a master craftsperson and was so lucky to find Mr. Bak. I was shopping for fabric on 4^th St and asked an older couple who they used and they gave me Mr. Bak’s number. They had used him for over 20 years for many different jobs and said he was excellent. I now concur.
He upholstered a mission style rocker I found at a garage sale and a fine antique arm chair that was my grandmother’s. The arm chair fabric I gave him was a challenge to use as it had a grid pattern. He lined up the fabric beautifully, made great welting, and created just the right firmness I was looking for. A year and a half later, the upholstery is holding up well.
Communicating with him was a bit challenging. I don’t know if it was a language barrier or what. But, it was well worth it. I am going to have him do my sofa next.
