Hound Dog Pet Hotel & Spa

Our two dogs stayed there for a week. They over charged us AND both of our dogs got sick with pink eye and ear infections which was an EXTRA $ 200 at the vet to get meds for. Don’t trust them with your dogs.

Our gentle dog loves people, children, babies, cats and other dogs. She spent two days a week in day care at Hound Dog Hotel (HDH). We noticed she became unpredictable and aggressive towards other dogs after a year in day care. She never had an aggressive bone in her body and she was among 80 – 120 dogs a day at HDH. We pulled her from day care and stopped allowing her to be with other dogs. We are trying to unlearn this aggressive behavior she picked up at HDH.

I have been taking my dog to the hound dog for six years. For that entire time many of the same people have worked there and my dog knows them personally. I love that they feed my dog lunch during the day and give me updates when I pick her up from doggie daycare. I have referred many friends and always heard positive things about their experience. I always know what my dog likes because when she gets out of the car she’s either excited and runs to the door or she doesn’t want to get out of the car at the hound dog pet hotel she jumps out of the car runs to the door and quite frankly doesn’t ever look back. I highly recommend them!

I left my puppy there for two days and when I went to pick him up he was covered in dog feces. The next day I left my puppy there for full grooming and they left his hair all chopped up. Some hair longer than others, did not cut his nails and did not shampoo him. I was very disappointed, if I could I would put 0 stars.

I have been taking Pugsley to Hound dog Hotel since he was 6 months old. That was six years ago! He loves Hound Dog. Some mornings he barks at his short lease and that means he wants to play with his friends… actually howls while we are on #169!
Being retired, I am a frequent traveler. Friends and family often offer to board Pugsley while I am gone, but he would rather be at the hotel! The staff is outstanding!
Dogs get frequent individual attention. They are all definitely animal lovers… and very knowledgeable in animal care! Thank you, Hound Dog!

I wouldn’t board my neighbor’s dog here — and he dumps in everyone’s yard. The owner is a very rude person. Sure, the lobby is nice, but when the hall door opened and I saw them dragging my dog into the back and choking him, it was on. Especially when they said I couldn’t go back to see my dog and help him get settled in. I went back anyway and told her where I’d like to put her choke collar. Then found a much better place for less.

Pretty good care given here… Workers/​caregivers all seem to be dog enthusiasts… But I was shocked to find out that tips are not distributed to employees!!! If you plan to tip caregivers, tip them directly otherwise they will not receive it!

Have had three energetic dogs there for day care a couple times a week. The facilites are great and tailored to size. Have also boarded there, and the kids come out all smiles. Grooming also available, complete with bandana! It’s a great place if you like to pamper your pets, but still affordable. The checkin front desk is a nice transition area. The staff have always been friendly, and bend over backwards to keep your pet happy and cared for.

My pooch loves the Hound Dog Pet Hotel. He has been going there a few days week for several years. They are a professional bunch who always treat both Alawishus and I great!
I’d recommend the Hound Dog to ANYONE!

I have boarded my labradors here in the past, and used to think it was a good place. The lobby looks nice, but the back area smells really terrible and is dingy. My older lab died a couple of days after being boarded here. I can’t say whether or not it is related to Hound Dog but he was definitely stressed. My other really mello lab usually loves Top Dog CC but we board in town when it’s just a day or two. He was frantic when he came out and the man at the front was making fun of him calling him a baby. The last time I boarded there, they said my younger lab didn’t need to go out much because he was old. He is a very active 7 year old. We requested that he play outside a lot and they told me the dogs can’t be out that much. I’m not sure what’s going on with this kennel but it doesn’t seem very good to me. I am not connected with this kennel or Top Dog. Just a dog lover.

I was surprised when I read some of the other reviews here. I’ve been taking my dog to Hound Dog Pet Hotel for the past year when we head out of town, and I have been very pleased with all aspects.
As most kennels will require, make sure you call ahead and have your vets # on hand so they can verify vaccinations before you try to board your dog. Once this was taken care of, I brought my pup in and they offered to give me a tour of the facility. It was very clean, smelled almost like a hospital it was so clean. Some of the nicer kennels were so nice they had beds, TV with cable, and were very big. We don’t even have cable at home, so this is quite fancy for a dog!
Anyways, the grounds were nice, dogs playing outside with supervision, and they have an indoor area as well to play in the winter. When they get very busy around holidays and summer weekends, they do put up temporary kennels around the indoor play area. They are just like the kennels you would get for at home that are made out of fencing steel. They are bigger then the kennels we have at home, so I have no problem having my dog stay in them while she is at the pet hotel.
Overall, the prices are fair, the staff has always been very friendly and nice, and the facility is clean and has high standards from what I can tell.

I love this place becuase they always find a way to fit me into the grooming schedule, even when I call day of sometimes with a few hours notice. Pricing is comparable to other groomers I’ve seen. The staff always knows all the dogs by name and clearly cares about animals and their job. The dogs come up to them, happy and tails wagging.
In reading some of the other reivews, I must admit I have never boarded by dog or taken him in for daycare – he isn’t very good at playing and sharing with others. I did get an impromptu tour while waiting for my pup to finish getting his locks dried. I thought the facility was quite clean for a dog kennel – there were at least 4 staff in back either cleaning or interacting with the dogs. Almost all the dogs were outside playing – they have separate play areas for various sized dogs. I’ve never checked out any other facilities, but I wouldn’t be afraid to give this place a shot if the need arose.

One star reviews are always brutal to leave. But I don’t understand this place. Don’t believe the marketing on their materials. They must use one fat thesaurus.
When I booked the reservation, I was told that I could pay a little extra for a «beautiful suite» with a plush bed and blanket. Let me tell you what a «beautiful suite» is.
It’s a 5×7 enclosed space that looked like an oversized animal pen/​locker with a tile floor. It had no bed, no blanket. And ALL of the dogs in back were caged up, barking, and, in general, going nuts. Outside it was a beautiful, sunny day, but only one dog was playing outside. Everyone else was penned up inside, no windows for them, nothing.
When we picked her up, the person before us had a lab and the woman at the desk said, «She had the runs. We don’t know why, so we didn’t feed her. She’s probably hungry.» Why wouldn’t you call the owner? Perhaps there was a way rice and chicken could have been arranged. You can’t just not feed a dog!
Then, my pup was brought back to us. Typically, she’s a high energy dog that jumps all over me when I pick her up. This time she didn’t want anything to do with me. She was mad at me. She sniffed around and barely came by me, no kisses or anything. It was heartbreaking. I immediately knew I did the wrong thing.
I highly recommend Pampered Pooch Playground over this place. For almost the same amount, if not cheaper, they can run around freely inside and outside all day and stay in a 200x nicer area. The downside is that they’re so busy, it can be hard to get in. The alternative, I’ve realized, just isn’t up to par yet.
(I did utilize grooming services, and she came back very clean and well groomed. If the groomer worked somewhere else, I’d probably go back.)

Can a place get zero stars?
Here is the deal with this place…
We have pets & occasionally like to get out of town. It can get kind of hard to find someone to stay at our house full-​time to watch our quirky pack…
So, I started looking for a pet sitter and/​or kennel. It seems that finding a good quality pet sitter is harder to find than I originally thought. So, I decided to visit a few kennels, and most seemed okay to me. Except for this place…
I should say — I have never actually boarded my dogs here. But here is why…
Upon entering the building — everything feels very sketchy and suspect to me. There is an up-​front office area — which is completely separate from where the dogs are kept. So, unless you specifically request a tour — you have no idea who is caring for your dogs, where they are being housed, or how they are being cared for.
I showed up for a tour. The unkempt lady at the front told the staff via walkie-​talkie that someone was there for a tour. A few minutes later, another unkempt woman came up front to get me for my tour. I was rushed through a few dog-​pee-​scented corridors… not stopping to meet anyone or see any of the kennels… they took me straight outside to their «play» area.
I didn’t see much playing going on. I saw shy dogs cowering, bully dogs bullying, piles upon piles of dog poo, and not much supervision of the dogs.
As I was escorted back through the building, I glimpsed at the «spa» area… ummm…this is not a spa. This is a very dingy, dirty grooming area. There was so much grime and dog hair on the floor… it was seriously nasty!
I did ask to see some of the kennels, and they are pretty much what I would expect, I guess. Small, cold, and the noise level in the kennel area was so loud it was deafening. Very stressful.
I also asked to see their cat room. As a casual observer, it looks fine. However, my pets mean a lot to me — and I feel that it is my duty to be more than a casual observer when looking at a facility where they would be staying.
There were 2 cats in the cat room. One caged, one roaming free. They pointed to the cat roaming free & said with pride, «oh, that’s our house cat». So, the «house cat» who lives at the facility is roaming free and taking advantage of the cat room (being able to climb a carpeted cat tree/​look out the windows/​etc) while the boarded cat is locked away. I looked in his little cage & noticed he had no water/​no food/​no litterbox. I was very saddened by this whole situation.
I fully realize why they whisked me though their facility so quickly… they didn’t really want me to *see* anything…
They like to say that «a tired dog = a happy dog»…and if you have dogs, you know that this is true. However, after seeing how the dogs are alternated between the outdoor «play area» and the deafening indoor cages… I firmly believe that the dogs are stressed out at this place!
That’s why they appear to be tired when they go home… they are relieved to finally be away from the Hound Dog Pet Hotel!

I love this place but more importantly the dogs love this place. A tired dog is a happy dog and after a day of play with others at the Hound Dog at their doggie daycare, they are the best pets. They go 2 — 3 times per week and I drop them off on my way to work and pick them up before 7p.m. I have recommended many times and no on e I know who has followed my advice has been disappointed!
