I want to say Emagene’s is an awful place and you should avoid it. I want to say that in order to keep it all to myself! Upon driving up, the first temptation is to keep driving right on by. Resist the urge. This place is as worthy of DDD(you know the reference!) as any I’ve been to. I’ve been here 4 times now, and the quality is consistently off the chart The staff(Yes, including Emma Gene herself) is very friendly and attentive. It’s divey, but extraordinarily clean, so no worries. I’ve only sampled the breakfast(Hungry Man’s Special #2), and the value is incredible. I generally get 3 meals out of the breakfast, and this is good quality food too! All I can say is try this place if you haven’t, and tell Emma Gene I said Howdy!

Mr. Peabody set the Wayback Machine to 1955 … and I arrived at Emagene’s at lunch time on a Saturday. Not fancy. The exterior is underwhelming, in the extreme. Clean. The manager was rolling silverware set-ups. I explained that I was on a schedule. They promised that they could get a patty melt out within my very compressed time frame. I was served the best patty melt that I have had in a very long time — not of the soggy grease bomb variety. I suspect that the fries were Sysco or GFS, but they were cooked perfectly. Everything was served hot.

All of the other reviewers are spot on. This place is not fancy, it is old and outdated, but the staff and food are AMAZING. The biscuits and gravy are the best I’ve had in a restaurant, and the portions are large! You won’t be dissapointed in the food, just don’t expect a fancy ambiance at breakfast!

Old school as it gets. This place is a blast from the past. Wood paneling and cheap carpet. Its a small diner, hidden away right off a busy intersection. Heard about it thru a friend of a friend. Once the biscuits and gravy start coming, you will wonder how they aren’t lined up out the door. You can taste the bacon and sausage drippings in the gravy. The hash brown potatoes are cooked with onions and were outstanding too. I would say these were some of the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. I ordered the two mentioned above items and I left half of each on my plate. The portions are ridiculous. The food is ridiculously good. Only reason Emagene’s is not getting 5 stars is the location/décor/ambiance.

This place is a total dive, but in a good way. Very old décor, put the place is clean. Had the special breakfast #1 which comes with all 3 breakfast meats, eggs, potatoes and biscuits and gravy. I am pretty much a big eater, and had to get a doggie bag to go. The eggs were cooked nicely. The meats were all average. The home fries had a funny taste to me, they might be using a cheaper grill oil. The bicuits looked homemade and were not great, but good. I could not tell if the gravy is homemade or not, but I have had much better. Had to be close to a pound of meat with this breakfast. Coffee was average, I have had better and alot worse. Service was friendly and prompt. All in all if you want a huge breakfast with coffee for around 9 bucks, this is your place.

This place is a blast from the past. Walking in you’d think you were in a Kentucky diner in the late 70’s. NOJOKE. haha. However…the food is just that… old fashioned and southern. Huge portions. Great prices. Friendly and welcoming service. Best breakfast around. If you’re looking for a meal that tastes like your Mamaw made it for you, Emagene’s is the place to go.
