R+D Architecture is an award-​winning firm specializing in commercial, private homes, residential, new construction, adaptive re-​use, restaurants, health-​care, with an emphasis on sustainability. William G. Dohe AIA LEED AP and Karen W. Ramsey AIA founded R+D Architecture in 2001.

R+D believes that design and planning must be a response to both the needs of their clients and the needs of the natural environment. We believe that crafting projects that artfully integrate our clients’ needs with energy-​efficiency, sustainable non-​polluting materials, and the natural context creates buildings and spaces that are mentally and physically restorative.

R+D Architecture’s work has been honored with a number of awards by the American Institute of Architects. They have also been featured in a number of publications, as well as gallery exhibits. History

Established in 2001.

William G. Dohe AIA LEED AP and Karen W. Ramsey AIA founded R+D Architecture in 2001, specializing in commercial, mixed use, and residential projects.

Their work exemplifies their belief that architecture must be rooted in its environment and its era. Subtle Japanese aesthetics permeate the work with its attention to craft, the elements of wabi-​sabi, and an intense focus on technically sophisticated, high-​performance, and environmentally sustainable solutions. William and Karen are known for working very closely with their clients to firstly understand their needs and budgets, to then translate them into an architecture that builds upon regional building traditions, celebrates insight, and opens the doors to visions realized.

R+D’s work has been honored with a number of awards by the American Institute of Architects, and have been featured in a number of publications, as well as gallery exhibits.

Meet the Business Owner

William D.

Business Owner

William was born in Denver, Colorado and attended Colorado College and the University of Colorado under the prestigious Boettcher Scholarship. After studying abroad in Japan, William returned to Tokyo to work in the acclaimed Japanese architecture firm Nikken Sekkei, working on large projects in Jakarta Indonesia, Jeddah Saudi Arabia, and Singapore City. Before coming to Pennsylvania, William spent three years in Jackson Wyoming designing unique alpine homes.

Since founding R+D Architecture with Karen Ramsey, William has won numerous awards for his designs, and has had them exhibited both locally and internationally.
