After trying a few Amherst restaurants on a Saturday night and finding them all packed, we called to see if we could get in at Coco. It turned out that someone had just canceled a reservation for 2! We had been previously deterred by the prices and small menu(it just seemed a little fancy for us), but we were ultimately very happy we chose Coco. When we got there, we were immediately seated at a table for 2 along the wall. It was close to the door and the kitchen, but the every table is because the restaurant is very small! It didn’t bother me at all though. The restaurant is loud and has an upscale but a little hipster-y vibe, with exposed brick walls and old wood plank flooring. We ordered drinks and dinner fairly soon after sitting down. The menu is small, but neither of us had trouble finding something we were interested in. There is one vegetarian dish, and another — the noodles — that I asked to be made vegetarian. The drinks took a while to come, but the food arrived quickly. I got the pear ginger float to drink and the honey miso noodles, and my partner got a cosmo and the fried chicken. The drinks were fine, but nothing to rave about. The food was excellent, however. My partner loved the chicken and the mashed potatoes and gravy it came with(she was not a fan of the jalapeño slaw, but that didn’t take away from the rest of the meal for the most part). I liked my dish, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. It was served cold and with a heap of cabbage, carrots and greens. The menu did say«greens,» but the when the waiter put it down she called it a «salad.» I wondered for a moment if she’d brought me the wrong dish(I dislike salad)! I got over it, though, and it was very good. We each ordered a pot de crème for dessert, which were incredible. Don’t expect to get in and out the door — they let(or make?) you take your time, and there were tables that arrived before and left after us. Overall, I happily recommend Coco!

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Western Mass. I had a 7PM reservation and was seated pretty close to that time after arriving early and getting a drink in the cellar. A couple moments of good service: they came downstairs to tell us when the table was ready, they easily moved the drink bill to the table, when they were slow bringing a beer to the table during the meal they put it on the house without us even complaining. We had the ramen beef and the fried chicken and both were wonderful. I sort of wish there were more items on the menu to choose from, particularly in the starters category, but I appreciate good curation and I’m sure everything available was great. The cocktails were excellent as usual.

Excellent food but they do not accommodate large groups(over 4). Eat here.

This is hands down the best restaurant in Easthampton. Great service, great cocktails, good beer list, and food that is both decently priced and always delicious(very small menu, but they do everything well). We have eaten downstairs(Cellar Bar) a half a dozen times, but never upstairs — it always seemed more upscale, despite it being the same menu. The fried chicken dinner is awesome, and huge — get it at least once(its always on the menu). Also, the hot and sour soup isn’t very large, but it is very good.

Well this place is a surprise in Easthampton, MA. If you’re planning on coming here for dinner on a weekend night, make a reservation! Upstairs(restaurant) takes reservations and downstairs(more of a bar) is first-come-first-serve. The menu is small, but delicious. I opted for the hot and sour soup as well as the barley salad. Both were really delicious and I’d eat them again. My friend got the buttermilk fried chicken — I tasted a few pieces and it was good but a little salty for my tastes. I’d come back again, but I’ll wait for(hopefully) new menus as the seasons change!

Absolutely fantastic! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and we were surely not disappointed. We started with the Fried Brussel Sprouts which might have been one of the best things I have ever eaten. He got the Fried Chicken with jalepeno slaw and mashed potatoes. He HATES mashed potatoes and practically licked the plate clean! I got the Honey Miso Noodle bowl and it was incredible and a huge portion. We ended the night with a Salted Caramel Pot de Crème which was a perfect size for sharing and nice sweet end to the meal. The atmosphere and décor were cozy and modern. The service was perfect — enough that we were never waiting but not constantly checking in. My waitress was incredibly friendly and shared my excitement over the brussel sprouts. I can’t wait to go back!

This place was really good! BUT if you are looking for tons of menu options, sodas, and lots of server attention don’t go here. What they do have is a handful of finely honed menu items and a great cocktail menu. RIght now they have the fried chicken and slaw. I’d get that. The ambiance is very nice. Dim lights and candlelight. The place is understably busy so wear your patience pants. I think the few servers have to work both upstairs and downstairs.

Excellent execution of American standards with an Asian infusion. Great ambiance, perfect drink selections, fantastic wait staff mixed with consistently perfect food. I waited for my 4th trip to write a review just to make sure my first experiences were not flukes. Nope, consistently perfect through 4 meals in the dining room and one in the cellar bar. Get a reservation for the full effect but do not hesitate to visit the cellar bar either. Just plain worth it.

I’m weirdly picky, and I don’t frequent fancy-ish restaurants like this one. I was worried it would all be too weird for me, but I was happily surprised! I went with a group and we ordered several dishes to taste and share. Portions were very generous. Everything was super fresh and flavored exactly perfectly. Nothing overpowered anything else but each dish was delicious and memorable in its own way. Tomato dill soup, fried endive, arugula salad, braised pork, miso noodles, fried chicken. I can’t pick a favorite! I will definitely be back. Thanks for an amazing meal!

My favorite restaurant in the area. I work in a public place and I’m frequently asked to recommend a good restaurant. I always send people to this place and it never disappoints. I often get calls from the people to thank me, or sometimes see them a year later and they tell me it’s their favorite restaurant when they come to visit western mass. If word of mouth isn’t a big enough compliment, I don’t know what is. Truly a special place.

This place is a hidden gem. The ambiance is incredible… dive chic for sure. The menu is limited but there’s always something(or many) great. I had the friend chicken(no slaw) and it was OUTOFTHISWORLD! Great portions(enough to have it again the next day). Quiet. Their alcohol menu is extensive and there’s a bar in the dining room. I’m so happy I went here and I look forward to returning when I’m in the area!

Coco’s is amazing! Delightful atmosphere, friendly prompt service and a very inventive cocktail list makes this place a real destination. Every dish served was prepared to perfection and our server was so knowledgeable. The fried endive was a real favorite. Sitting in the bar area with the exposed brick was so incredibly charming! Can’t wait to go back.

We dine here frequently. Started going just after they opened. Food quality is usually excellent though it seems to be slipping a bit lately. that may be a result of the increasing popularity. the wait staff and bartender act a little harried and don’t seem to be as interested in service as in the early days. One big complaint — the menu is just too limited. It’s OK if you just visit Coco occasionally, but with only 5 entrees, that almost NEVER change, your choices are way too limited. Never any specials. The only fish they seem to like is Salmon. Has not been a beef option on the menu in ages. I still like Coco and plan to continue eating there — just not as frequently.

This is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in Western Mass. The menu changes with the season, so be sure to check the website so you can visit when they add new items. You can dine downstairs or upstairs. Upstairs is a little more formal dinning room, while the downstairs is a little more casual. I prefer the downstairs. A reservation is not required, but is recommended, particularly on a Friday or Saturday evening. The buttermilk fried chicken is a delicious constant menu item. I recently had the chicken pot pie. The pastry was served on top of the dish, and was amazing. The staff were all great and we had a delightful time. Great food, great staff, great place to visit.

i had worst customer service here. we came in around at 5:152⁄28 and ordered food at 5:25. other groups of people showed up later. it looked fairly busy. but we never expected our starter to show up after 6 without any apology from the waiter. the other groups which showed up much later had already finished their starter. so i complained about our situation to the male server. he was saying ‘i know i know it’s a busy night and its good food just eat it’ while talking he turned around and walked away. we already lost our appitite. the mushroom tart was nothing special. i don’t think it is worth the 45 minutes wait. then we waited another 45 minutes. nobody and nothing showed up. and of course other groups were just about finished with their meal or already took off. we canceled our order then explain our situation and the server’s attitude to your greatest manager«mora taylor». she said it is a busy night. she never explained why our order was delaied much longer than other groups who arrived later than us. i can tell by her face she was annoyed with us. her last word was ‘do you want your food or not? it is almost ready(after one hour with her upset face)’. when we said no she abruptly turned and walked away. hey people~ if you want to see what the worst customer service is, go this place and talk to servers. they are untrained and aragon. there are way better restaurants out there. why would you go?

I’m careful about giving five stars, and my Unilocal reviews in general… so take this as you will: Here’s the scoop: everything I’ve ever tried is delicious. Do you like the way it’s described on the menu? I’m not a gambler, but I’d put quite a few shekels on the chance you’d be happy with the actual experience. Fried chicken, jalapeño slaw and mashed potatoes are seemingly always on the menu, and for good reason — I’ve always been happy with that choice. Bonus: the special cocktails are spot on – and the bartenders professional, deeply knowledgeable about food and drink, and funny to boot!

While visiting a friend in Easthampton for the weekend we met up with some her friends at Coco & The Cellar, down in the cellar. The ambiance was nice, intimate although appropriate for groups and the service was good. The menu, although small had some very nice options. I started with the fried brussel sprouts which were something wonderful. I’ve tried them a few ways but never fried. The majority of the table ordered the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I certainly did, and couldn’t wait for my order to arrive at the table. Unfortunately, the chicken was enormous and under-cooked and way too much coleslaw on the plate. I sent it back and was given the option to try again or have the dish comped. I requested to try again as I was really dying to try what everyone else was enjoying. The second dish came out and still, under-cooked. Now, normally I don’t complain about a piece of meat being too big(think leftovers) but in this instance the chicken was so large it just wasn’t cooked enough. I should have sent it back but decided to give up. It was an expensive night considering all I got was brussel sprouts. I still wouldn’t steer folks away from this spot. It is a nice neighborhood place with a big city feel. Just make sure to ask for your chicken well done. Oh, and on a side-note, my friend ordered the Bibimbap and enjoyed it and from what I could tell of the table, dessert was also a big hit.
