Bark Busters Home Dog Training

Trainer Keith Axsom quickly responded to my inquirery on a holiday weekend. A time was set up for him to come to my home for a session. He explained the training plan in detail./ He had a calm voice & handled my 8 mo old Chihuahua with confidence. She in turn was puzzled why a Stranger was in our home telling her what to do. She did accomplish what he wanted her to learn./ Now it was up to me to reinforce the training. She is reluctant to follow through & it’s a little slow achieving the goals. I’m undaunted though; we will make it!/ Keith was nice enough to give me a phone cal to follow up on our progress. I did have to report, it is slow.

Keith was quick to respond to my web inquiry. We were able to set up an appointment for him to come to our house the following evening. Our puppy is 6 months old and the problem behaviors we wanted to address included barking, chewing on furniture, and bite play. The goal of our training session with Keith was to help get our family on the same page with regard to how to respond to the negative behaviors in a uniform manner (instead of yelling, NO! STOP! BAD! etc) Before the training session the puppy was confused by our different reactions (Were we playing or Were we mad?) Now, he understands right away when he is doing something bad– because we all use the same cue (instead of expecting him to understand the meanings of words… which can change).
The cost of the at home training is not cheap– but the quick response time, simplicity of the technique, and seeing the results so quickly– it leaves us with no regrets. The other thing we liked about the techniques we learned from Keith is that they are not based on“positive reinforcement” (when the dogs is doing something bad, you try to divert its attention to a good behavior and then reward with treats).In theory this sounds great, but our dog isn’t a big foodie so its not an approach that we could use to change or encourage behaviors.
For reasons we’ll never know, our dog behaved like a highly experienced/​professionally trained veteran of the silver screen each time Keith was here (to the point where it was embarrassing). Bottom line, we know our puppy has the smarts, and now we have the tools to make our expectations clear. Happy customers Thanks Keith!

Keith was great with our dogs and helped with training. Our dogs really liked him and we learned some great techniques. We did a plan where he came back several times and was always on time. Our dogs were set before the plan was over, but was still nice having him for little touch ups.

I worked with Keith to help me be a better owner for my dog Uno. Uno is a rescued 92pound pit mix who had a lot of aggression towards other dogs (especially on a leash), people on bikes and skateboards, and anyone who he was weary of– whether we walked by them or they tried to come into the house. I was feeling very doubtful and feared that this was «just his personality». Although the price is steep– you get what you pay for. I now am confident with bringing uno out for a walk and passing other dogs, he is warming up to strangers a LOT easier, and he has no problem with people on wheels. I even introduced him to a new dog a few days after training and he did okay. It’s crazy how much change can be observed in such little time. I am hopefully that this lasts and if not Keith made sure I can contact him at any time with any problems.
And, FYI– no abuse training! He teaches you to get on a «dog» level. No treats, no E-​collar, just simple ways to communicate that let your dog know you’re in charge. I know a lot of people don’t want «harsh» training, and if you’re like me and want your dog to learn In a safe way– this is for you.

Love them. I had the best, most patient trainer Keith Axsom. We Rescued a yorkie Cookie, she was so terrified of all males. My son couldn’t go near her. After a couple of sessions with Keith she was cooing and curling up on the sofa with my son. She also had major anxiety issues when I left for work, throwing her body into the door. Now I pet her goodbye and she is fine. Our male yorkie Bailey could not walk on a leash now he is a joy to walk. My contract is for the life of the dog. I can call anytime with a concern about Cookie or Bailey and if I’m still having trouble Keith will drive up from southern Jersey to Edison. So happy To write a review for them.

My boyfriend and I were on the verge of returning our Jack Russell Terrier/​mix, Gus, to the shelter when we called Bark Busters at the recommendation of a co-​worker. 6 weeks and two sessions later, we can’t imagine our lives without our little guy! We attribute this 100% to our Bark Busters trainer, Keith. Not only did he teach us the techniques we needed to effectively communicate with Gus, he helped build our confidence to know we could handle any challenges thrown our way. We have already spoken to many of our friends and family about Bark Busters, and we would certainly recommend Keith to anyone who asked.

The Bark Busters training is a great way to learn to communicate on your dog’s level, and to learn easy ways to be consistent. Everything we learned through BarkBusters really works with our dog. It truly was an amazing transformation. Worth the investment.

The absolute worst. Over priced and ineffective. It was about 3 years ago that we used bark busters and I didn’t leave a review till now because I didn’t even know they had a Unilocal.The guy who came seemed high to be honest. He barely had a pulse and he didn’t help at all. Just told us «some dogs are just like that.» Train your dog yourself, not worth the money.

If Keith Axsom can’t train your dog, NO-​ONE can!!! We saw a COMPLETE transformation in our dog, Sheldon, within 20 minutes of Keith’s arrival at our home. Honestly, the REAL training is of the owner and the bad habits we create in our pets. You will not be disappointed!!!
