Rock n ’ Shop @ The Paper Box is unique shopping, culinary, and entertainment experience in the Brooklyn New York neighborhood of East Williamsburg/​Bushwick. With the goal of presenting Brooklyn culture under one roof, Rock n’ Shop transforms one of the largest music venues in the neighborhood, The Paper Box, into a pop-​up «alternative mall» and live music showcase which is open every Saturday from 10:00AM — 6:00PM & every Sunday from 10:00AM-7:00PM.

With up to seven free all ages matinée shows and over 40 vendors, attendees can spend the day enjoying delicious food, shopping for art, crafts, apparel, jewelry, accessories, records, or get a tattoo.

History

Established in 2015.

Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box came together through a chance encounter at a local bar over a casual drink (come to think of it maybe a few too many casual drinks) and a lively conversation between interlocutors Erick Verela of The Paper Box and members of The Bushwick Hotel. Before the night was through the group promised to meet again to discuss the possibilities, and meet they did. Before long Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box was born.

Curated by rock band and art collective, The Bushwick Hotel, Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box was created to showcase Brooklyn culture under one roof. Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box empowers local artists, makers, designers, and chefs by giving them a venue to present they’re works in their own neighborhood while at the same time providing attendees with free all-​ages live entertainment and an unparalleled shopping and culinary experience.

Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box is a collaboration between The Paper Box and The Bushwick Hotel.

The Paper Box is an independently owned music and arts complex in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn where artistic expression is valued in all its forms. The venue has hosted a multitude of events since the summer 2012, including music shows, theater performances, book readings, and label showcases.

The Bushwick Hotel is a Brooklyn based rock band and art collective. The band came together in the summer of 2012 while recording their album Graffiti of the Young Man’s Mind. The group has been making music and art together ever since. See their works at Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box.

One of a kind Market/​Bar/​Eatery !!!
Rock n’ Shop is a within The Paper Box and happens ONLY on weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
It is a eclectic market with lots of unique vendors. You can find handmade jewelry and candles, unique clothes, vinyl records… as well as a place to get a trendy hair cut or a tattoo. One stop shop ha. Imagine a big warehouse with different rooms within it. You will find your vendors stands throughout as well as lots of food vendors. When we were there they had a BBQ stand, empanadas, and Grilled Cheese. We tried all and all were really great. The $ 7 bloody mary’s were also a big hit on a Sunday morning while walking through the vendors. Attached to the vendor hall is another room with a stage — throughout the day there was a comedian there as well as a few bands.
It is a place where you come to hang out and just chill while meeting cool people at the bar, grabbing some food and checking out the unique vendors. If you are ever in the area go check it out. Its worth a visit.

This was really cool! Sorry i didn’t get to my review earlier but this place is a lot o fun! The Beniget burgers were awesome and the music was pretty interesting. The shops were fun to look and browse through and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Rock n Shop just started its Saturday market from 10 – 6. Everyone there was super friendly and inviting but there wasn’t much happening at noon. Bands apparently weren’t starting for another few hours and there were only about 5 vendors there. Free pancakes in the back however no other food vendors were present.
I would like to return for the music and shopping, maybe a piercing too however my biggest gripe with the trek out to this tucked away Bushwick spot was that nothing that was advertised on the website was actually happening when we arrived (vendors, music, etc).
More updates info on the website would be much more helpful.

Location isn’t prime, but it is a cute idea on Sundays. I went as part of a Unilocal elite event and I thought it would be bigger as in more vendors, but it was very intimate. There were cool vendors, simple bar set-​up, and the food in the back isn’t bad either and they have seats.

The rock n shop is a warehouse in East Williamsburg with market, a bar, a band and food stands. Although there is creepy clown advertising the paper box, the venue is pretty chill.
I loved that multiple artists were selling their wares up front next to the bar. So you could grab some coney island brew, sip and browse.
I loved the pineapple and NYC skyline necklaces.
And the shiny metal wallets/​cigarette holders.
The back of the bar has picture of a puma with changing neon lights. Very 80/​90s.
My favorite was the chocolate star wars vendor. Who doesn’t want a dark chocolate millennial falcon?!
And the food:
Yes yes yes to beignet burgers! Best one bite all night. The sweet crunch to the savory juicy beef Patty was perfect.
I will definitely come back for this.
The pancake and bagels were OK. The scallion bacon cream cheese was good. Could have used more crunch.

I came here as a last minute invite by a friend, and you know when someone invites me last minute without plans and preparation, those are the greatest events in my experience, so yeah may you need a plus one for any event, reach out to me. This is a weekly on going event. I met a few awesome Unilocalers, that was cool, my greatest surprise was that the event organizer was my neighbor for a few years Greggy and I didn’t know he has a band The Bushwick Motel, he sings pretty, pretty good ! I loved it. The Dream Team also played really good music, so I got my musicgasm for the night. Every weekend Saturday and Sundays there are vendors with food, chocolate, arts, tattoo, free live music, and more, can’t get any better than that.
The Johngoodchocolate had bacon chocolate, made me think of Phil, where is Phil when there is bacon to be tasted?. I didn’t dare to taste it. The raspberry chocolate was great.
What you can’t miss if you do attend is the Santo Burrito Grilled Chicken, it is everything a burrito needs to be to fulfill your hunger, delicious and healthy!

Walked in to hear music (and sample bites), walked out full, buzzed and with a fresh manicure!
Really liked the eclectic nature of this event. You walk into a nocturnal street market selling apparel, jewelry art tec, a live hard rock band playing in a side room and a display of food vendors in the backyard full of graffiti. Kind of a one stop shop in a big warehouse. I wish I spent more time browsing through the stuff for sale up front. I am proud that I managed last minute to get a manicure by Jessica (from Hello Beautiful Salon). I was her last client for the day but she managed a quick and fantastic job. Very surreal feeling getting your nails done at night in a bar!
Sampled the free Coney island beer but the bar prices were reasonable as well. Friendly bartenders.
On to food. I was happy to see there were many options to sample. I parked myself first in the longest line and was rewarded 30mn later with a beignet sandwich. The creator Lex Taylor was running a one man show for more than an hour. Very cool, considerate guy. The burger line was ending right before me but he saved me a small piece of meat to sample (for which I’m grateful).The food was delicious! His beignet definitely rivals the ones i’ve had in NOLA. A bit of crunch outside, soft in the middle, not too oily, like it always belonged as a burger patty. Also enjoyed the «wanna be crepes» pancakes that never stopped coming. The guy serving them (whose name now escapes me) was also very friendly. At the end I got a full plate of vodka pasta being served near the bagel table. Everything I tasted was good.
I liked that this venue had character, that it was run by real people rather than a company. Liked that it was held in a part of Brooklyn I don’t usually roam.

When I walked in, I was transported back to my college nights at Webster Hall. On the right side, a fully stocked bar. In the front, I saw a tarot card reader and a tattoo artist at work. In the center, there were lines of tables selling anything you can think of… jewelry, vinyl discs, gourmet chocolate, clothes and accessories. Then, I walked in the back… one room had a live band and another bigger room had hot food being sold.
Overall, it wasn’t not a bad venue. My only gripe was the lack of crowd control. I’m claustrophobic; hence, I wasn’t keen about being in a large space with bunch of people on top of each other. It wasn’t my ideal way to spend a Sunday night.

Love, love, love the concept of a night fair; boisterous twenty/​thirty somethings looking to find adventure while sipping some brews, listening to live music, and buying local crafts. It’s one of the reasons I was so keen on the late Brooklyn Night Bazaar. I was devastated when I heard that my Saturday night hub was closing. After the closing, I searched desperately to find a replacement. Lo and behold, Rock N Shop appeared on my Unilocal feed, and within seconds I was drawn, like a moth to a flame. I took the opportunity to visit the fair on a Sunday evening, and I really loved the vibe. Rock N Shop is located within what seems like an old warehouse. It’s separated into three rooms; one room for live music, one room for food vendors, and the largest room houses a full bar and walkways lined with craft vendors. There’s a little something for everyone.
Here are the highlights:
1. The Lex Taylor Burger Shop’s beignet burger. Oh, dear lord, that thing was divine. It’s basically a freshly-​fried, crispy beignet filled with pickled onions, pear jelly, and greens (he made mine vegetarian). The beignet was delightfully textured and the fix-​ins were a nice combination of sweet and sour.
2. Burrito Santo stand offered GREAT wraps that were hefty and fresh. My friend tried the chicken burrito and she said it was perfectly spiced.
3. Jon Good Chocolates had a stand that offered beautifully crafted chocolate sculptures inspired by Star Wars.
4. There is a tattoo stand on premises, for those wanting to get inked. It was fun watching the tattoo artist at work, and it made me itch to get another piece on myself (thank goodness for self-​restraint).
5. The live music and the bar gave the venue a nice electric ambience. Definitely perked up my usual, boring Sunday.
I really enjoyed my night at Rock N Shop and I will definitely be back (next time with the hubs). The divey, creative, and comfortable atmosphere is really an experience. It’s also a great place to meet up with friends and support local entrepreneurs.

Nestled in a warehouse on the border of Bushwick and East Williamsburg lies one of the better venues around right now. To be clear I have never been to any events that Paper Box has thrown but I have heard nothing but positives.
The Arts & Crafts /​Flea market movement doesn’t seem to have taken as big of a presence in the NYC area as one would think. Cities like Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago have embraced the alternative space for collections of different artist’s to show off and sell there skills and wares.
So the ‘Sunday Only’ «Rock & Shop» offered by the Paper Box is a welcomed addition to this need. Lets hope it stays around long enough for people to experience it. My first vist was amazing. I was lucky enough to have caught the grand opening and was not disappointed.
The space is divided into three main locations, their signature venue space with great alternative rock and punk bands playing (all for free). A large enclosed back area with picnic tables and multiple food vendors offering custom grilled cheeses, incredible jerk chicken, and oddities like Falafel Pizza. The main room and large draw for the event is full of vendors offering hand picked used LP’s, handmade graphic Tee-​Shirts, jewelry and my favorite handmade gourmet chocolates in the shapes of Star Wars & Doctor Who icons like the Millennium Falcon and Tardis… not only great to eat but exquisite packaging.
The prize of the event for me was on a small stage area right when you walk into the main space, all set up for Tattoo’s. The Pop-​Up shop was being helmed by Ulyss from Magic Cobra Tattoo, an amazing artist. He was equipped with some incredible Flash choices, half for $ 50 and the other larger more colored for $ 100. An incredible deal from such a talent. So upon my entrance on SUnday on opening day, although I saw the large bar to the right and my hangover wanting a beer and shot my first pull was to sit right down. I received an amazing tattoo and returned the following week for another.
It’s time for everyone to not get out of their box, but at least into this one on Sunday’s, their rotating lineup of Musicians, Artists, Foods, Vendors and best weekly Tattoo pop-​up is worth the trek! p. s. IT’S FREE!!!
