Hertz Rent A Car

I recently encountered quite a bit of car problems and find myself having to use a rental. I’m on my second round of using this Hertz location in the past month. I opted for Hertz because it’s close by my house and affiliated with AAA. The website is easy to navigate to reserve your rental. The first time I rented I got a Nissan Versa. From day 1 I had issues with this vehicle. Every day a different light would go off on the car, tire pressure, oil, and a multitude of other issues. They would always resolve so there must have been something funky going on. The representative that checked me in and out was highly unprofessional and discredited my concerns. To start off it was some superficial damage on the vehicle that he stated didn’t need to be marked down. I also received the vehicle with barely any gas in it even though they claimed it was a half-​tank. When checking out the amount they stated was being charged felt much higher than what was quoted to me when discussing the liability insurance I added on (trust me, I keep track of every dollar I spend with my bad car luck). When I pointed out that there must have been an error, the representative pulled the huge pamphlet apart and pointed to a small printed price he had originally given me. Now I swear this was higher than what he verbally stated and they only have you sign a touchpad so I couldn’t see the price written prior to him pointing it out. Definitely felt like something was wrong there but I didn’t have much ground to stand on.
Now I’m finding myself having to rent again. I picked the car up today, it’s a lovely Nissan Sentra in great shape. The gas tank was full and everything seems to be in good working order. The representative this time was highly aware of all the markings on the vehicle and answered all my questions. So far this feels like a better experience. Fingers crossed I don’t end up paying more than I think I will this time!

The car I received was very good. A new Toyota in nice condition which drove very well and I had no problems with.
However, the staff did not inform me on how to drop off the keys, as they were closed on the Sunday I was to drop off the car. It would have been convenient to know. We had to call the main offices to find out this info.

Not a good experience from the very beginning. I chose to use hertz for a car rental, because they will waive their young driver fee if you join their Hertz Gold Plus Reward
program.
I requested pick up service and they were late. I had to wait 15 minutes past the time I requested to be picked up.
When I got in the car, the low tire pressure light was on and I had to wait for them to fill up the tire. The interior of the car is not in good condition and the exterior has several dings and scratches. I was already running late and in retrospect I should have requested a different car.
Sadly, this is basically the only option if you are driver under 25 and don’t want to pay out the nose for a rental.

Never going back here, I was on leave back home from the military and they refused to credit me for filling up the tank when I returned it. Then a week later found two charges for $ 307 and $ 3 on my account the manager couldn’t explain to me. Spent another hour on the phone with their main billing office in OKC to fix the extra charges and was never credited for filling up the tank. Terrible.
