This place that advertises as a safe, neighborhood friendly place left such a bad taste in my mouth. I recommend that they should completely revamp their operation and bring it up to at least moderate standards of service and products. * They didn’t have fried chicken ready and needed 15 minutes to fry it up. * The server wouldn’t give me a glass of tap water and claimed that it’s because the E. Orange water is no good. * Server refused to give me a hot cup of tea from the hot water dispenser on the front counter when I declined the offer of a cardboard sleeve and gave me lukewarm tea instead. The server said she heated cold water on the stove, but for all I know she could have served me water from the hot water tap. The reason for giving me lukewarm water, she claimed, is because patrons may burn themselves and sue a restaurant for having served a hot drink. * The view from inside the restaurant was out into the parking lot where one of the restaurants’ floormats had been thrown, and of a parking spot with tree detritus that had not been swept up. * The chicken pieces were some of the smallest I’ve ever seen. The thigh was ½ the size of thighs I am accustomed to being served elsewhere. And all three pieces were dry. * The bathroom faucet handles are too long for the water to be completely turned off, so a substantial sized stream of cold water runs constantly in there. The hot water is turned off completely. * The floor had been just cleaned when I went in — with so much Pinesol I choked on the toxic stench left behind and could barely breathe in there. * I didn’t see a Halal certificate hanging anywhere

The lady who works there is a sweetheart . She gives it a good vibe. The waffles were so soft and fluffy. I usually like crispy waffles but I fell in love with Bruno’s waffles. The chicken was good too. I wish I had more . The appearance is the only problem. It’s like maybe a subways was there before and they didn’t care to change it. It’s look better with new designs. Cozier designs . It was great food though & awesome choices and great service

The waffle was good but the chicken was like any other chicken shack chicken except it had Italian seasoning sprinkle on at that skin. The meat itself had parts that was dry/stringy tasted either old or overcooked not remarkable at all but not horrible.

Standard breakfast food, not worth the 30+ mins it took to complete 1 to-go breakfast order. Also, I dont like the way they handle the food(very sloppy and they seem inexperienced). It looks dark and dirty inside to me… personally, I would never eat inside there. Their stock of supplies are everywhere and very visible.(TACKY) Yes, the woman who works the counter has a very welcoming nature, But when you want an in and out experience because you have to go to work(or whatever AM routine you follow) that is inconsequential. I’d much rather deal certain places in the morning because I know my food will be out in less than 15 mins. I understand everything is made from scratch here but the 30+ minute wait time is beyond rediculous and inefficient for all parties involved. The lighting is entirely too dark, When I first walked up, idk if they were open or closed! I also dont understand the concept of a Subway-themed chicken shack that is said to not be a chicken shack at all(but is obviously just a chicken shack that serves breakfast).Horrible concept and decoration for a restaurant. Cost wasnt bad, Still a waste of time though.

The cashier is very sweet & courteous… she makes you feel very welcome & appreciated. I’ve had the chicken and waffles, buffalo wings & sweet potato fries. The chicken is just like mamas… lightly flowered well seasoned & crispy… the waffle was fluffy and made to order. She even spread the butter !!! I loooove herTruly satisfying! Hidden gem on south orange Ave but worth the trek

The lady who works there is soooo nice and sweet. The food is also delicious; we ordered the fried chicken, mash potato, and coleslaw combo w/a side of mozzarella sticks. We were surprised with how yummy everything was. We will definitely be going back!

This is the finest chicken and waffles I’ve had in the East Coast! The Belgian waffle was delivered hot and tasty. The chicken was moist and well cooked. They’d give Roscoe’s a run for their money

Delicious Waffles and not your average chicken shack! Good service and clean establishment. The chicken is tastier and fresher than any chicken shack you may find in the area. They make everything from breakfast to dinner… and all Halal! A must try in the area!

Wow! The chicken is actually hand fried. Not that prefried«Kennedy» or «Crown» fried halal chicken you’re used to. It’s fresh and tastes great. The staff is welcoming and fast. Yum! I’ll be going back. Three stars because it’s not the BEST spot to go to. But for something quick and on the go I will be returning.

I have never eaten chicken and waffles together and thought it was an odd combo. I’m glad I chose Bruno’s as my first place to try it. I used the delivery option and it was fast! The food was amazing and I will definitely be coming here again.

Bruno’s Chicken and Waffles is a new and welcome addition to the low cost chicken shack options in Newark. It actually is more than a chicken shack, because they also serve breakfast food(all day and night), lamb and rice and other middle eastern/Mediterranean type dishes. They don’t do pizza. They don’t have to. The set up is like a diner, but the vibe is similar to a chicken shack, but not as ghetto as most of them(chicken shacks = Kings Fried/Detroit Fried/USA Fried/Kennedy Fried = you know where they are and what the deal is). Several key differences here: the menu is more diverse, they have a parking lot and are set back off the street, the inside has no bulletproof glass, the food is all halal, and they deliver/take cards — how convenient is that? I heard about the place from a Facebook friend and had to check it out the next time I was in Jersey. To be honest, it’s on South Orange Avenue by South Clinton St and East Orange, which is a little rough and tumble(especially when I was growing up there), but it’s not too bad if you drive and get it to go or call for delivery. They do have tables though and during the day should be fine to dine in. Anyhow, I drive over there around 10:30pm and there is a lady already there ordering a western omelet and an Italian cheesesteak — there’s only certain kinds of places where you can get both of those items at the same time. I put my order in for 3 pieces of chicken and a waffle. My bill? $ 7.00! I don’t know many other places where I can get a deal like that, if any. My food comes and I decide to stay and eat… And the food is delicious! The waffle is light, flaky, and crispy. They put butter on it as soon as it comes out so hit it with the syrup, bite the chicken, and get ready for flavor explosion… The chicken is meaty and juicy. It could use a shot more flavor, but I like more savor and flavor on my food(not hot spices) than most. Most folks will find it A-OK. So I’m thankful to my friend on Facebook for blowing this spot up; I’m doing the same on Unilocal
