I rented from CRMC back in 2009−2010… It’s now 2016 and I just finished dealing with the terrible company.
A few weeks before we moved out, they sent a maintenance guy around to check everything out. He told us that without a doubt, we’d get our
deposit back. Well, low and behold, it turns out we didn’t get jack shit back and we actually ended up owing thousands more. They claimed we left furniture in the house, which was absolutely not true. The house was TOTALLY empty. Since we’re girls, they claimed they flushed the main line and found tampons. We asked a plumber about that and he literally laughed and straight up said that was a lie. You don’t see what’s in the «main line» if it’s flushed. Plus, we never even had a problem with the plumbing anyway. They charged us for things they added onto the house, like a gutter spout, after we had moved in. Claimed we painted which we never did, and they charged us for that. The list was literally 2 pages long of 100% lies. The only truths were our bills for the last month we lived there.
Their attorney, Andrew Sass, is a total asshole and a complete joke. He threatened to take me to court and seize all my «assets» over $ 400. (Because if I had to pay that SOB, I was going to make the payments last as long as possible) He harassed me for 6 years. 6 YEARS. I even flat out called him out for acting like my parents would pick up the bill. It’s not their responsibility and CRMC WILL attack your family to get the money that they so skillfully con you out of. They view all college students as spoiled brats who run to mommy and daddy for all of their financial needs.
2 years ago, I moved 600 miles away, out of state and the genius Mr. Sass apparently couldn’t find me. Though it’s not like I was hiding or something. I didn’t even change my phone number. So he tried to sue my father’s business for $ 200, claiming I hadn’t finished paying my bill. He tried to do this MULTIPLE times, which I’m sure cost CRMC much more than $ 200 for him to do. He is an absolute joke as a lawyer and apparently has far too much time on his hands, so he enjoys wasting company money and time.
This company is a joke and it’s disappointing that they own half of the rentals in EL. Screw getting maintenance done on time (which they don’t.) The worst part about a rental company is when they are just flat out dishonest.
I sincerely hope they try to delete this review from every outlet I post it on because I will continue to repost it for years.
I highly recommend renting from a private landlord in EL. CRMC is like the Comcast of house rental companies.

This is an incredibly ridiculous rental management company. If you are reading this– PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER CRMC Properties for any reason. You will fully regret the poor service, multiple charges that are sure to happen for this low rate junk landlord. Be ready to be charged for multiple items that are going to end up in court or being payed because you didn’t read this post. Owner runs a very unethical organization that over charges for varios items at end of lease. Pet fees $ 500 (never a pet), carpet replacement (was equivalent to shit dog hotel), etc.

The best summary for a review I can give: If I could rate 0 stars, I would. I currently live with DTN and I HIGHLY suggest DTN for off-​campus living. There is not one thing crmc has over DTN in quality. Crmc is nothing but a poor excuse for a company who piggybacks off students need for off campus housing. They could careless about everything except the money that flows into their pockets, all through doing as little as possible to keep four walls standing. Expect your future living conditions with crmc to include: jacked prices, major heat loss in the winter through the completely non-​insulated walls windows and doors, all the insect and rodent home invaders imaginable, emails claiming you owe money when you don’t, house flooding during rain storms, lowest quality blinds and windows, and a leasing company filled with disorganized liars and cheats. Also be sure to live with a handyman because crmc’s motto is, «if it breaks, we will see you never.»

Absolutely the worst service I’ve ever received from any provider anywhere. IF you have a choice, do not rent from them. They’re constantly telling you they’re too busy for you, shooing you out the door and when you call for questions they’ll put you on hold and not get back to you or they simple will tell you they don’t have time for you and put you to someones voicemail. They’re incredibly rude.
The security deposit issue is something completely separate. IT WAS SENT TO THE APARTMENT I HAD BEEN LIVING IN 1.5 MONTHS AFTER I MOVED OUT! How does that make any sense? I have now been without a check for 2 months now waiting for them to forward it! They don’t care.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I rented a house in East Lansing from CRMC from August 2009-​August 2010. I’ve come to equate those who are employed by CRMC has a step below car salesmen. They’re trained in the art of smooth-​talking but rarely deliver on any of their declarations. The rent was not unreasonable, but the amount that they charged for the security deposit and cleaning fee well exceeded its worth. I just received my security deposit back. We left the house completely clean and bare, as we found it, and were charged over $ 1000 in damage fees that should have been covered under the cleaning fee and general leasing agreement.
They send their henchmen around to find ways of making money off of college students. I’m sure they deal with many rough-​around-​the-​edges students, but my roommates and I are not even close to that description. A representative showed us our property and parked in the driveway in a 2-​wide, 2-​deep fashion. So naturally, because we were NEVER given a parking diagram, despite what CRMC says, we emulated her parking example. We were then charged two fees of $ 75 for lawn repair, and after explaining ourselves, we were yelled at before the fee was corrected and ultimately credited to our account.
The general maintenance intelligence on part of their staff was pathetic, not to mention that many of the staff members had difficulty doing basic mathematics. That makes me uncomfortable when we gave them $ 2250/​month.
Renters beware, you will likely get shafted out of thousands of dollars. Those on a budget should rent elsewhere. I found that Prime Housing and independent renters are the best option.
