Food is good it’s just delivery time is slacking. Estimated delivery time with beyond menu was 9:29…so I wait until 9:50 to call and see what’s up… Than 10:10 I get the order. Please try to be faster. Waiting an hour is kind of crazy considering you are 5 minutes away.

I cannot believe this place! My order took an hour and a half to get to my place after during the phone call they said it would be 25! When the food finally got here I was real excited because I was hungry. I snag the food and give the guy my tip, $ 6!!(which was more than 20% but I understand delivery must be hard and it was like 1030.) So I start unwrapping the food from the plastic bag and out of no where sauce spills from the bag. It gets all over my freaking carpet and shirt. Somehow the teriyaki from my steak and seeped out of the Styrofoam container all over the bag. I’m pissed but I grab a paper towel and put it under the food, I’m hungry and I just want to eat. Aaaaaannd of course, you guessed it, I take one bite of this«meat» and it’s as chewy as a freaking tire and burnt to a crisp with just enough sauce to make it look regular and moist. Fuck this place. They will never have my business again.

Super happy to have tried AND liked this place. There aren’t many(or possibly any) Japanese places that deliver to me so I was ecstatic when I stumbled upon this on grub hub. I enjoyed the dynamite roll a lot and really liked the spicy crab roll. I liked the Chinese food a little less but it was still good. I think the veggie lo mein was good but could’ve used a bit more flavoring, the seafood mein fun wasn’t bad but one of the types of seafood(not sure what it was) was a bit chewier than I would’ve liked. The broccoli and garlic sauce was good just not my favorite. They don’t have the option of brown rice instead of white rice which is unfortunate but not the end of the world. All in all, I was quite happy with the food.

I’ll never order sushi for pick up again! It’s so much easier to just drive over and have the $ 9 all you can eat buffet they set up at lunch time. Fresh fruit, fresh sushi, and they usually have fried sushi, green beans, rice, and some totally amazing noodles. If you were to order a few rolls for pickup, it’d be almost $ 15. It’s so much more worth it if you’re in the EH area to just come in, sit down, and eat as much sushi as you can during your lunch break. Highly recommend it!

Nearly three hours to deliver food. The food was decent in the past but this is unacceptable. After two phone calls, and being assured that our food was on the way, we have cancelled. No apologies or attempts to rectify the situation. Will never order from them again.

Service is slow, food is okay but the place itself is filthy. I wonder how the kitchen is kept. Not going back.

Very convenient to order delivery via the Unilocal app EAT24… seamless process. I liked the numerous Unilocal reviews and pictures, so while I could have dined in the restaurant I chose to order delivery. Online I order an appetizer called shrimp toast… what arrived was a triangle dough with perhaps a shrimp stuffing topping… I didn’t like it, I’m not sure what I thought it would be but it certainly wasn’t anything that I have knowingly eaten before… …I also ordered a hot & sour soup. For my entrée, I went round and round, having a hard time deciding on just what to order… I finally focused upon the Shrimp Tempura Dinner box… it comes with a small cup of miso soup, steamed rice and a salad. All said and done… the meal arrived at my hotel very timely, it was warm and tasty. Be prepared when you order delivery… it isn’t free. My order had an added $ 3.50 delivery fee which I find acceptable. My next visit I plan to dine in an feel the ambience of the restaurant!!!

I order here once a week and it hasn’t been too disappointing. Sushi is pretty good. Definitely go pick it up instead of having it delivered. You will wait for at least an hour although they claim 30 – 40 min. I ordered last weekend at 8:45, and didn’t get a knock at my door until 10pm and that’s the time they close. I felt like I was just their last stop on their way home. Hmmm. Haven’t tried anything else but I’ve heard a few good things.

Horrible! I ordered delivery and it took an hour and a half. When it arrived, it wasn’t what I ordered and they hung up in me 3 times when I called. They finally put a manager on and the manager blamed me. First and last experience there ever… Stay away!!!

Yuck.(This is for a to go order) The sushi was warm. I got a bento box(teriyaki vegetables) — their menu states it comes with«white rice, salad, miso soup, fruit salad, spring rolls» I did not get any fruit salad or spring rolls. And my total was almost $ 20 for that and two rolls(avocado rolls)… I didnt try the miso soup because it smelled like chicken broth — not miso. The vegetables were completely smothered in the teriyaki sauce, which also made its way out into the brown paper bag they put the food in. If they hadn’t covered it with a plastic bag, it would have gotten all over me on the car ride home. I had to discard that and the(cringe) styrofoam packaging it came in. The veggies also had black char marks all over them and the black char was all over the food — making it look unappetizing. My coworker threw out her entire lunch(two rolls) after taking one bite.

I have been coming here for lunch for several years now, essentially the day after they reopened as the GInger Root. It is simply fantastic. We actually went five times one week. There’s enough variety on the buffet to keep your interest. The sushi bar is what really gets me though! They serve three different platters of freshly made sushi. A normal hand rolls platter. But not just CA rolls. Good chunks of fish and fixin’s without excessive rice(like Misaki’s for instance). A sushi platter with the standards like salmon and tuna. But they also mix it up with yellow tail, octopus, and egg date maki. The third platter is fancy rolls. Spicy tuna with crunchy top, rainbow rolls, eel, avocado etc… There’s also a hot food section with various fried items, a noodle dish, a chicken dish and a vegetarian dish are the usual staples. Then the remaining dishes are changed up with things like spicy beef, winter melon stir fry or mixed seafood every time you go. Really well done. There is a dessert buffet, with seaweed salad and cucumbers. Ok well that’s not dessert but you can never have enough veggies ha. There’s coconut macaroons and fresh fruit too, as well as some other sweets. Lastly, over the years I have gotten to know the owners and they are good friendly people. This is a local business worth supporting for sure.

I love their lunch buffet. It’s a great price for a limited choice in food and sushi. When I get a sushi craving, I would come here to get my fix. Sometime I don’t like the choices in the buffet, it’s different each time. The staff is very friendly and great for quick food

Standard. My co worker and I ordered take out from this place for lunch and while we didn’t have any of their specialty rolls, their standard hand rolls were pretty big and chock full. I would not mind trying some of their other options. The bad thing is they have the pink ginger which is not my favorite and their wasabi was pretty dry… I like my wasabi creamier. But an extra plus THEYDELIVER! AND their lunch buffet looks pretty yummy. many dessert and sushi options even though on the smaller side. I will be back!

Second time around and even better experience. Sushi was fresh, well-made and affordable. The receptionist was very nice and friendly. Also she was able to help me with the sushi selection. Next time I’ll dine in at the sushi buffet!

Ginger root has a sushi buffet. I went on a day where the buffet was off. It was very good anyway. The service was very good and the food filled our appetite. I’d go back for the buffet.

(This review is for their $ 8.95 lunch buffet) If you equate Chinese buffets with grease, fried everything, grease, and more grease, you will be as stunned as I was with the very good quality and choices from Ginger Root. First of all, they have fresh sushi made in front of your eyes by a sushi guy –all sorts of Nigiri and Maki — I enjoyed every one. Fresh, clean tasting, just really good. The hot buffet was one table, so you didn’t see the repetitive dozens of trays with the ususal suspects. Lots of dim sum, though, and they were very good. I stuck mostly with the dim sum and sushi, and avoided the General Tso and Beef and Broccoli and Lo Mein and rice dishes. I did try a seafood curry –shrimp, scallops, squid –and it was wonderful –great zippy flavor and fresh! I didn’t see any soups out, I did see a nice dessert table with fruit and cake, but I didn’t go there. The place is small –4 booths and 8 tables. The lady running the floor was pleasant and attentive. All in all, a really good value. Just a note, it’s tucked in the corner of the Shop Rite Plaza and is a little tricky to find.

I’ve been coming here with my infant daughter(now a toddler) for 3 years now. It’s very family-friendly. The sushi is phenomenal and fresh! The food is also wonderfully cooked. This is a family run business and they make you feel at home. Grandma/grandpa cooks in the back(so it’s pretty authentic). It is a smaller/cozier place so it was great for me to keep an eye on my baby at the booth while I went and got food. Gingeroot has lunch buffets from Monday to Saturday for $ 7.99 which is an AWESOME deal for the great sushi and Chinese dishes. I come here like every week. It’s also the only place my daughter pigs out and finally actually eats some food. The menu food is also great. I had Peking duck here and shrimp and walnuts and it was great. The other thing is you see quite a lot of Chinese people eating here(I’m Chinese too) — the secret of knowing if the Chinese food is good is if you see a lot of Chinese people there.

Ok… So fiancé and I were NEEDING sushi in our life and it was 930 on a Monday night. As you can see from my last review I was/am absolutely fed up with this place… Well hunger and lack of ANY other sushi in the area… We did what we swore we never would do again. We ordered from ginger root The guy whom we placed the order with told us 45 minutes as per usual. Wasn’t really friendly at all and rushed me off phone so fast he almost forgot to take my credit card number. And in typical Ginger Root fashion we waited for over an hour. When the driver got here didn’t call and say«hi your foods here» we got a call«yea food here open door» very snarkily like a command rather than a customer facing employee… What did we expect right? As for the food: This time around can’t complain about the food. It was all fresh and made well. Please see pics. My rating this time has increased to two stars… As my other reviews read. I need both customer service AND good food to even get close to 4 – 5 stars… My two stars have increased from one to two since the food was the best we’ve have from this place yet… Service still sucked. MAYBE well try this place again in a crunch like tonight and see if they are getting better

Typical Chinese food. Dinner combos were around $ 8. Includes soup, rice, egg roll(or spring roll) and entrée. See photos. Everything was very good, but not worth going out of your way for. I would recommend it if you are in the area and want a value priced sit down Chinese restaurant. We did not try the Japanese items. They run a small buffet at certain hours also. Was a little scared that the dining room was empty. Owner’s children were in a corner table quietly doing their homework. Ask for sugar for my tea. Expected them to bring a few packets. She brought a saucer with a mound of sugar.
