We offer classes in: Acro-​Gymnastics, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap & Musical Theater. Our strengths are in training our dancers to be technical as well as great performers.

History

Established in 1971.

The Anita Deprey Studio of Dance began in Miss Anita’s mother’s garage when she was the young age of 13 years old. She would teach the neighborhood kids how to dance for a nickel a class and even put on performances for their parents. With a strong drive to be a choreographer to have her own business from such a young age she grew her business practices and techniques quickly. Learning and hiring strong choreographers from all over the U.S. and other countries while studying in N.Y.C. and at her chapter of N.A.D.A.A. (National Association of Dance & Affiliated Artists). It is a truly striving studio in East Hartford, with many talented dancers under her tutelage. It is so exciting to be celebrating the Studio’s 40^th year this year starting in fall 2011!

Miss Anita started taking dance lessons at the Miss Betty-​Ann Gentino School of Dance when she was a little girl. She has taken class with some of the greatest choreographers and dancers of this time, which include but are not limited to Frank Hatchett, Bob Rizzo, Savion Glover & MANY others. With her involvement at the presidential level in the 20^th Chapter of N.A.D.A.A (National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists), Miss Anita hires teachers from all over the world to teach at N.A.D.A.A. conventions. She has always been a devoted and involved member of the East Hartford community and has taught for the summer program at Parks & Recreation for several years and currently choreographs/​coaches the E.H. High School Showchoir Jazzappella. Miss Anita was honored as the «Best Dance Studio» through the 2004 Hartford Advocate’s Reader’s Poll. Miss Anita was also choreographer for the Radio Disney Dancers for 2003 – 2004, who performed at many Radio Disney functions and concerts!
