Brunswick Hills Obstetrics & Gynecology

I have been a patient here since I was 18, I’m not 30. I love some of the doctors here, Dr. Lobasco, Dr. Fischer, and Dr. Kinsler. Since I’m now pregnant I’m encouraged to see all the doctors of the practice, well my fav Lobasco is no longer an OB so I have to see the others. No problem you may think, well there are 16 doctors! 16!!! That is a lot of faces to meet and see! Not only are there 16 doctors but they also stick you with the Nurse Practitioner unless you SPECIFICALLY ask to see a Doctor. Nurses are awesome! Don’t get me wrong, but if you’re a new mom and you’re scheduled to see a doctor, you should see a doctor. The receptionist are also very unfriendly and at times rude. The lab techs have been very nasty to me as well. I’m there a lot, once a month so needless to say, I’ve switched practices. I will not give birth with them!

I picked this practice just based on how far it was from me and because they are affiliated with St. Peter’s Hospital. Overall, I give it an average rating. With all of my prenatal visits and the 6 week postpartum follow-​up, 50% of the time I was seen within 10 – 15 minutes of my scheduled time. For about 25% of them I was seen within 40 minutes and the rest 25% within 1hr of my scheduled time. They tell you at the beginning that you will be seeing multiple OBs, and this was the case. The OBs were knowledgeable and happy to address any questions or concerns I had. I would have given an extra star rating if it wasn’t for my postpartum follow-​up experience. The OB I met with seemed uninterested in my complaints (although I told her I had pretty bad hemorrhoids). The following day I was in so much pain, I called to speak with any of the doctors on staff. The nurse called me back and told me there was no mention of me in the obgyn’s notes speaking with her about hemorrhoids and that if they were so bad I could come back to be checked or they could send me to a surgeon. She was rude on the phone and didn’t really add anything helpful (she only told me to drink a lot of water and eat veggies and fruit. I was already doing this.). Found out about a month later that I had a fissure, so I am not very happy that the obgyn didn’t even check. Other than that, my hospital delivery experience and the delivering doctor were great.

I have no major complaints. I just hate the long wait between the ultrasound and seeing a dr.

I have been a patient there for a while and i have never had issues with the doctors themselves, it is mostly the front desk and the disconnect and insensitivity towards the patient meaning myself. I either wait for a really long time or am on hold for a really long time. This time it was somewhat urgent that i just spoke to someone who can help me and was a little sensitive. i just found out i had an eptopic pregnancy over the weekend and i told the receptionist and she said ok we have been little backed up and put me on hold again for another 20 mins. i would love to stay with them but at this point its pretty hard. i love, love, love my Dr. Fisher she is amazing, its just the rest of the staff the front desk staff. a quick advice .you are dealing with women in their most vunerable state, be sensitive be nice be kind be patient and be attentive. Horrible front desk both in East Brunswick and Hillsborough.

I’ve been a patient here since 2009. I have watched this practice expand and grow and advance itself for the better. You learn very quickly that you will wait a long time for an appointment, but you realize why after you experience the bedside manner of the doctors. I can’t speak for experiences with every doctor in the practice, but Dr. Johnson is simply one of the profession’s best.
If you want a doctor who is compassionate and understanding and very good at what she does, this is the doctor to see. I went from being petrified of trips to the ob-​gyn to feeling uplifted and motivated after visits with her. Hard to believe, right? It’s true. I always leave feeling better than I did when I walked in. I give Dr. Johnson a lot of credit-​its a lot harder than it looks to keep your cool and keep patients at ease while working on them during procedures. She does this with ease, and if she’s having a bad day, you don’t know it.
I have had limited, but still very good, experiences with Drs. Fisher and Cernadas as well.
I prefer this location over Hillsborough, although I think Hillsborough is a bit more efficient and organized when it comes to answering the phones, checking patients in and out, and calling patients in to be seen. East Brunswick is modern and although you’re on the lower level, you don’t feel like you are.
Spacious waiting room, including a coffee/​tea area (one of the nice enhancements over the years). Lab and ultrasound on site. Well thought out design of the facility, I think it works well.
Nurses are good. The technician who was administering ultrasounds today, 12÷4÷15, was phenomenal. She made a transvaginal ultrasound a piece of cake for me.
The practice also has a tv, wifi, and the patient portal for you to log into at home.
The only cons are the wait time for annual visits (calling ahead 3 months is the norm!), the procedure for speaking with a nurse (this usually results in a tag team game of the nurse and I leaving each other messages — when you call, you are directed to a nurse’s mailbox), and the waits you sometimes experience when waiting for your appointment.
This is a practice I trust with my ob-​gyn care.

Doctors are on average ok. Nurses are friendlier. Willing to listen and answer questions. I had my first baby in CA in a baby friendly hospital and 2^nd one with this practice. Unfortunately even though the regular checkups were pretty similar in CA and in NJ, the actual delivery with Dr. CERNADAS, was pretty unpleasant. Most likely she was having a bad day, didn’t want to be there or rushing for some other appointment, as she didn’t only broke my water but also gave me pitocin without informing me. She was also not talking but yelling and not willing to listen to my feedback. I don’t know how could have been different if it was one of the other doctors in that practice but during prior appointments I had better experiences with other doctors.
Also unfortunately I had bad experiences with the only hospital that they work with which is St. Peters. The nurse in the delivery room of the hospital was wonderful. However unlike CA where they encourage mobility during contractions, they require you to be in bed with multiple ivs. My pregnancy and delivery wasn’t risky, so the old style of forcing pregnant women deal with the contractions with laying down in her back in bed is pretty cruel. And they also practice another old fashion method during postpartum recovery. All the babies are collected in the nursery several times a day. These poor babies wait their turn to be washed or checked in an assembly line for couple hours. Also it is unacceptable for a hospital that there was a cockarge in the bathroom of my postpartum room.
Most of the receptionists in Brunwsick Hills offices are very arrogant, not willing to be helpful and quite frankly incompetent. Only one or two actually makes the place run both in Hillsborough and East Brunswick offices. If you don’t get those good people and end up interacting with the wrong receptionist, she might make you miserable for example by being unreasonable about the availability of the appointment times. Good news is you can always fix that by calling or finding the right person that day within couple of hours.

I absolutely LOVE this OBGYN office. I prefer their East Brunswick office more than the Hillsborough because of the updated facilities and more things readily available such as lab testing and blood work, as the Hillsborough location is a lot smaller, but this group is a wonderful group! Every doctor I have had the pleasure of meeting was friendly, caring, and actually take time to hear out your concerns. Despite this being a large facility that sees a lot of people, I have never felt rushed or like a burden here. Every staff member is nice and understanding! The office is immaculate, by the way. I have never gotten that scary doctor office feeling here because of how comfortable I am with this place. The most I have waited for my appointment was 10 minutes and that was because I was late. Every time I go, my appointment never lasts more than 30 to 45 minutes and that’s with being heard, understood, and properly treated! I recommend them to anyone!

This practice was recommended to me by a nurse friend out in California. She said it was the best in town. Trusting her judgement after trying out several different Obgyns, I can honestly say I’m glad I took her advice. They are extremely professional, well organized, and I’ve never had to wait in the office long before I’m seen by the doctor. I not only go for my check-​ups there, I also went through my entire pregnancy in their care and have not had a bad experience with any of the doctor’s, nurses, or staff. They have onsite at the East Brunswick office ultrasound service as well as blood work service.
i would recommend to anyone who would like to go to an office where their operation, for me, has been pretty seamless.

I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to my nurse practitioner Pat and medical assistant Jackie! I had an appointment for an IUD today and I was somewhat nervous about it because I was not sure how I would handle it. Especially with all the horror stories I read about people’s experiences online. It was exactly what she said it would be, a bad period cramp. It was super quick and the cramping was gone in a matter of a minute! Totally worth it and I absolutely love how the staff treats you here! They are super quick so you don’t wait long and my nurse practitioner has inspired me to go be a NP! I LOVE THESE PEOPLE TO DEATH! I can’t believe how good they make you feel when you leave this place. Thank you all!!!

Hate this place. Came in today and my appointment was scheduled for the wrong time and the staff acted like they were doing me a «service» by fitting me in to Dr. Davis’ schedule. On top of that, I asked for an annual exam when I came in and the medical assistant had me undress and then told me to get dressed up again a few minutes later because the Dr. said she was too busy! I’m sorry — pretty sure I’m in healthcare and it does NOT take more than a few minutes to do a breast and pelvic exam! The waiting room was not that busy and even with that said, the fact that you got a patient undressed only to have her be re-​dressed is highly UNPROFESSIONAL!
Will never be coming back to this place. Hope they don’t charge me (now that I see the other reviews). Shitty staff in medical offices occurs everywhere, huh?

I have been going to Brunswick-​Hills for many years. My recent visit was wonderful. The office is clean and nicely decorated. The staff was pleasant and helpful. All of my questions were answered and I never felt rushed. I saw both Dr. Cernadas and Karen Katz. They were great! They took the time to explain everything to me and let me know all of my options. Definitely a great experience and I will continue to use them as my doctors.

I have a problem with Drs writing the wrong prescription and not taking responsibility for it. and the ones that dismiss my
illness.
Been going there and have a severe Bacterial problem. No one can help me. They charge you for tests you tell them not to do. I have a problem with Drs that tell me I cant wipe myself properly. That was from the older Doctor Lobosco.
If you want a good OB GYN I would go else where. If your too old to practice then retire. Now I have a collection agency after me for 179.00 that they don’t want to admit they made a mistake. Taking advantage of the system by doing that is a no no.

This place has very nice doctors, however the billing and records people are awful! They charge you for tests you did not want and even refused and when you decide to leave they charge you for your records! Not recommended! So glad I have a wonderful new doctor!

I go here just for my yearly exam and am very pleased with the facility, staff, and most of all their efficiency. I never wait more than fifteen minutes for a nurse to call me in and I never wait in the exam room for more than ten minutes. They typically only take 5 minutes though! Btw, they are now at 620 Cranbury Rd.
