I’ve been here several times but tonight I attended a birthday party in their private section upstairs. Christina was very attentive to everyone. The food and atmosphere is always great.

This was the worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. It took the waitress over 20 minutes just to bring us bread. My steak was well done I when I asked for medium and my pigeon peas rice was hard. I will never go to this restaurant ever again. Words of advice. Find servers who actually want to work there.

Outstanding food and service. A great assortment/variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Outstanding mofongo! Attentive and friendly staff. Good sized portions, free valet parking and very clean. Unlike other local places, there’s no discrimination here, everyone is kind, professional and attentive.(I’m not Latina, mi esposo; boriqua.) My husband just finished his flan, delicious and a huge portion. We will be back!

It’s a pretty establishment but, much like the original, the food is mediocre. The first time I went I had the pulled pork. The meat had not been pulled in the traditional fashion and it had larger than normal chunks. The flavor fine, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. It was also wrapped loosely in bacon which I thought was odd and I found a bit or fat or possibly cartilage in my sandwich. Nasty. I also had the onion rings which were limp, not crisp like they should be. The second time I went I had a burger. I ordered medium and got well done. The truffle fries are just fries made with truffle oil and a bit of cheese. Again, not terrible but not quite worth the extra charge. Lovely atmosphere, good service, food was nothing special at best and in need of refinement at worst.

The food and service were remarkably above what I expected. They have a great upper room which is perfect for parties and luncheons. The staff was kind to lower music when we needed to speak and raise it back when we needed to have fun. It was overall a great time!

I’ve been coming here with my coworker for lunch and it’s been a great time each time. The drinks are on point especially the watermelon martini. I usually get the appetizers and they’re pretty good too. The waitresses and bartenders are pretty nice and funny; I feel like it can be the neighborhood hangout spot.

Let’s be fair, this review is based upon the 2nd time me and my wife have tried this restaurant. The 1st time, we had it delivered and they forgot the crab cakes my wife ordered(which she tried to do again today, just to find out there is always a problem in Jimmy’s providing and keeping this dish in stock). I wasn’t so impressed at that time but we like to be as impartial as possible, so we tried them again(today). This time, my wife picked up the food from the restaurant itself(which completely fooled her because it is wonderfully decorated). The one out of two stars is for the restaurant’s décor. The other star is for the pictures of the food(on Unilocal and on the web) that looks so much better than what you actually get. I ordered the ‘Chicken Scampi’. I’ve had this dish(in the versions of; Veal, Shrimp & Chicken) from all sorts of wonderful restaurants, including; Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Long Island, City Island, to name a few. But, Never have I had it smothered in Broccoli(mostly stems). The sauce was an after thought of creation, with a film of grease and pretend vegetables floating around. I had to cut up the chicken, sauté it in my own garlic oil & butter sauce with a bit of sea salt from the scraps I was able to salvage of the yellow rice from this disaster of a dish they sold us. Now that I’ve re-created the dish, its good(which I’m eating as I write this) but that’s not what we purchased these suppose to be completed dishes for, now is it?!? I’m glad they cleaned up the dilapidated Joe’s Restaurant(which, when it was opened, had the best Shrimp, Veal & Chicken Francese on the planet, made from scratch) building but ‘WHERE’S THEFOOD’! I mean, I wouldn’t let a homeless dog eat this food(and I love dogs). The fried shrimp we got as snack appetizers was cut out cardboard and fried in yesterday’s grease(they were brown instead of golden). I won’t cross near this restaurant again, let alone dine from there again. Not worth it at all.

Stopped by this place for brunch with my family. We enjoyed the pancakes and a delicious appetizer called Piononitios! When checking in for Unilocal we got the red wine and it’s beautiful presented with fruit. 10⁄10 would recommend. We look forward to coming back!

Jimmys grand café in the Bronx is a great place to go to with your family friends or just by yourself. The food and the service is great it’s clean. The drinks are amazing it’s a safe place I go there regularly by myself with my children and I just love it. They specialize in Catering private parties anniversary dinner and upstairs is very beautiful. I would recommend everyone to go there and try it out and if you don’t like it I Vegas will pay for your meal, and if they asked you who recommended Jimmy’s to you or told you about the place tell Vegas did. So please let me know how you liked Jimmys grand café ok.

Great vibe, great service, and the food is amazing. Will be back several times! The selection of food makes me come back for more. The music is so relaxed and the staff makes you feel like a family every time. One of best restaurants in the state right now.

I finally got around to trying the food here. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp with mash potatoes. While the service was excellent, I do not feel I ordered the right meal. I think I would have been much happier with a burger or an appetizer and a drink. I will be going back to see if I’m right about this theory but I don’t think this is the place for fine dining. My mother order the chicken piccata, which I can make better and my father order the mahi mahi entrée that I felt was a bit on the dry side. But the décor is amazing and I’m pretty sure my theory is right about drinks and finger foods! And I’m not complaining about $ 6 for a glass of wine!

Parking was limited by they have a free parking lot a block away. Stopped by on Saturday evening around ten. The food was good and the drinks were good great. The environment was excellent there was a live band playing that wrapped about 20 min after our arrival and for the rest of the night it was top 50. The crowd was cool age group was late 20s plus most were in the 30 to 40 range. Just my vibe. NO to small tight jean with the butt out, weed aroma and«my ni**** my ni****» every two sentences.

This is a great addition for the Bronx especially for the Castle hill locals. The food is delish, the staff treats you like family and the price is right for the portions. The best things on the menu is the roasted chicken dinner, chicken Madeira, the catfish, the cheesecake! The stuffing that was made on thanksgiving should be a a side permanently. It was truly the best stuffing I ever had.

This place is the original diner Jimmy’s Diner at Bruckner plaza, and of course I was thrilled to learn that they re-opened at another location, And let me tell you that it is better than ever! I have been going to Jimmy’s for 13 years and it is the epitome of what a traditional Greek diner should be and now Jimmy has added that modern flair and twist to the place and the menu! Staff is amazing and on point, nice new uniforms that make them all look so professional. The food is amazing, I tried a new item this weekend… Huevos Rancheros: DELISH!!! Here is a big plus the neighborhood… PARKING! Also, at night it becomes a nice place to hang out with it’s bar and live music. Perfect to hang out or celebrate something special, Overall: A+

Give me a T! Give me an H! Give me an E! Give me a B! Give me an R! Give me an O! Give me an N! Give me an X! Go-o-o-o– Bronx I’m always rooting when particular establishments open for business in my surrounding neck of the woods and in other sections of The Boogie Down! Jimmy’s Grand Café made their grand debut back in early December in the old Joe & Joe location right in the intersection of Castle Hill and Bruckner Blvd. My Mumsy and I decided it was high time we payed Jimmy’s Grand Café a visit for breakfast. Exterior is very polished. However, it’s somewhat non-dimensional in terms of structure. Stepping in, though, Jimmy’s Grand Café definitely outshines the exterior all the way. Interior is flashy– but minus the gawdy effect; with a modern appeal and cool hints of Retro 60’s. Jimmy’s Grand Café surpasses the owner’s other diner, Shore Haven(which has a standard diner-style appearance) on the other side of Castle Hill-heading towards the Clason Point area. I went for the Florentine omelette with a Mimosa and my mom had the Italian omelette with veggies. Which honestly, I wasn’t crazy about the omelette and to me, lacked substance. Yet, it was ok for a typical diner. Mumsy and I were highly impressed by the attentiveness from our servers. Honestly, I would like to try them out for dinner. Way to go Castle Hill!

Back in the bx for the wife’s birthday weekend. Decided to kick it off at Jimmys. The new Jimmys on White Castle. I went to the old one last year and was only impressed with their hours not the menu or service. My wife is from around the block so it was a given that we check out the new joint. The new spot is very nice and the décor is on point with a lounge downtown. Service was sharp and the food and drinks were priced just right! We will definitely be back whenever we visit the bx.

Mixed review here. The spot is beautiful, looking more like a club than a restaurant. As such, the music was so loud it was difficult to speak to others. Friday night perhaps? The food was good, especially the appys. We had stuffed tostones and empanadas. I did feel they needed more salt and spice. The entrees were big and tasty, but again more salt and spice wouldn’t hurt. I had pork chops(3) and a friend’s pernil was HUGE. But I did feel that it was«faux-rican» food, lacking that signature zing. The service was horrendous. We were delivered food without utensils and even once without plates. No one cleaned our table until we asked 3 times. Our waitress was sweet, but rarely appeared. I’d try a lunch next time to see if the service improved.

So my family and I came here for brunch, we’re always looking for new places to eat. A friend of ours told us about Jimmys Grand Café and that the food was really good plus it had just opened not to long ago. The décor is very modern and clean, the servers are dressed in black slacks, white button up shirts and black ties. Now to the food, my wife and I both had the Dominican breakfast which includes 2 eggs(any style), fried cheese, fired salami and mangu(mashed plantains). Our kids kids had chocolate chip pancakes and Belgian waffles. We had to order the Mac and cheese, well because we order Mac and cheese wherever we go… lol. The food was OK nothing to write home about. I would’ve gave this place 4 stars but our server had us wait 20 minutes for the check after we finished our meal. I would probably go back to try some other items on the menu that sounded good… we’ll see

Jimmy’s café has been a go-to for my family since it was«Jimmy’s Café» on White Plains Road. We would have lunch there every Sunday, so I could take the extra with me back down to Virginia when I went back to work for the week. It became a tradition(thanks to their large servings sizes). We just went to the new location on Castle Hill. Jimmy’s Café is now«Jimmy’s Grand Café» and — wow! I liked it before, and now even more so! EVERYTHING got better(except it’s a bit longer of a walk to get to for us now). We ate there today — and it was BUSY! Larger space, and still packed! The Café was at max capacity, but if you judged by the service, speed, and quality — you’d have no idea. Not to mention, the new design and overall atmosphere is fantastic. I wouldn’t have expected this level of great experience at most restaurants anywhere in the city. Whatever guidance the staff is receiving, whatever processes have adjusted in the back, and whatever the motivation for the move — Jimmy’s is getting it right. Jimmy’s Grand Café is a MUST eat, and MUST repeat. ***Update*** Still holds 5 stars, but now that we’ve been a few times, I remember one thing, and would like to point out one trend. — I miss the Chicken Parm’… It’s now only on menu as a Hero??? I didn’t notice the first time bc we had breakfast. — I’m noticing a trend… The two times for dinner, it seems we wait quite a while to get the check. Follow up is good leading up to the meal and decent during. But, even after ordering dessert(which should be an indicator) we’ve spent a long time waiting just to get the check. I appreciate not feeling rushed, but, don’t want to stick around for a sleep over either.

Hmm would give Jimmys a hire rating if the food was up to par… what I was surprised about was the option for valet parking … the ambiance was perfect for a family setting, not as comfy as I hoped but more«trendy» if anything. I would say this is more like a first date spot. but for the area the design and interior is on point !

Jimmy’s grand café Remember the old Joe and Joe’s on Bruckner Blvd in Castle Hill? Finally after years of being closed down a nice new restaurant has popped up there about three weeks ago. Jimmy’s Grand Café is a cross between your favorite diner with a menu chocked full of everything to a beautiful night club with high vaulted ceiling, light tracks through out and plush leather booths all around the restaurant with a grand bar on one side and a second floor of seating for parties and overflow. The staff is very professional, dressed in gold ties, crisp white shirts and black pants. Carlos was our waiter and even though I had a little trouble understanding him due to his heavy accent he was very nice, attentive and knew the menu. We ordered soups to start, French onion soup and chicken and rice soup. The French onion was hearty and flavorful and a great price at only $ 4.95. Now the chicken soup with rice was a tad bit on the salty side and could have had more rice and chicken in it. We went with simple selections of a Greek wrap with big chunks of chicken and feta with a nice Tzatziki sauce. This was served with my choice of arroz con gandules. It was presented nicely and again a great price for a lot of food at $ 7.95. We also ordered a turkey club with mash on the side. It was nice fresh turkey on perfectly toasted bread with crispy bacon. The mash potatoes were not a great consistency or taste and no gravy was served. The prices are very reasonable and the place was decorated beautifully. We need to come back and try breakfast and a few of their unusual dishes to really give a full review. @jimmysgrandcafe #jimmysgrandcafe This is another great new choice for our area and we welcome

Well worth the wait. Jimmy opened a big beautiful two story restaurant and up scale, for the neighborhood, bar. It’s located at the same location as the old Joe and Joes but has been built from scratch. It’s about half a mile from his old place, witch remains closed. The prices are low and the quality and variations on the all new menu are fantastic. Three of us ate at noon for about $ 25.00 plus tip. Look for the cost to go up once he rebuilds his customer base. There are four televisions in the bar area along with hi-top tables. The rest of the main floor is set up like a regular restaurant and upstairs looks to be more of a private party area. As a long time customer, we all wish Jimmy well and hope he is there a long time
