When this was the old Kaluia Hawaiian, it was like a Chinese restaurant in a mob movie. We came here since the«change» and realized they kept the old décor but the menus had changed, naturally, to reflect the new cuisine. I think our drinks were still served in the old tiki glasses — they must have left them in the dishwasher or something when the new owners came in. I don’t think we’d over go back — there’s not much to make fun of.

I liked it. I got enchiladas. A lot of food came on the plate with tthe 3 enchiladas… actually one wierd thing is i thought they came with a red sauce but i dont remember it being on there. Oh well. Everything tasted good. I don’t speak spanish and english may or may not get you very far there. It was tough trying to let them know that there will be 2 people sitting and we would both like water. The menu looks great though, theres a lot to choose from and the atmosphere was nice. Of course thought I went in at 3 in the afternoon on a tuesday.

I’ve gone to this place a few times now and really the only reason why I’ve gone back is because it’s SO close to where I work. Less than a block away really, yet each time it is disappointing. Co-workers and I have gone there after work for drinks too a few times but haven’t gone back for that ever since a friend of mine was attacked by a crazy lady for looking at her. I mean, she was thrown on the ground and the lady was trying to beat the hell out of her. Besides that entertainment, the food is only mediocre. I’ve had better, a lot better. It’s really hit or miss. The worst part is the service. The first time I went there it was with a girl from work for lunch. We were literally the only people in there and it took 45 minutes for us to get out burritos. 45MINUTES!!! For a simple burrito. WHAT were they doing back there that made it take so long?! We thought it was a fluke, but everytime we’ve ever gone there it’s taken at least 45 minutes to get our food. You don’t care so much when you’re there for drinks too in the evening, but even the service at the bar is like pulling teeth. I’ve been reading a lot lately about all the violent outbursts at that place and frankly I’m amazed that it’s still open. They need to shape up or give up.

My wife and are I trying out some of the restaurants in East Boston. We stopped at Tequila’s Bar & Grill last night and it was so-so, despite moderately high expectations. High Points: –The margaritas are large and very good. A little on the sweet side but still very good. –The Salvadoran enchiladas, which are more like a taco salad, were authentic and not bad. –The shrimp cocktail ceviche was also authentic Salvadoran and not bad. Low Points: –The traditional burrito was bordeline awful. Of course, it’s probably not«the thing to order» on the menu, but it seems difficult to mess up a burrito, and after all the restaurant has a Tex-Mex name. The filling was very, um, creamy, and with minimal chicken. I hate to say it but Anna’s or Boca Grande is better. –Service was relaxed but perhaps too relaxed. The servers are very nice but too busy scarfing down food at the bar to bring another drink to your table. –Prices were okay but not really that great. There are better options in Boston for the same price. More people need to review this place but it seems like a ‘pass’.
