Sean’s Mobile Mechanic

This guy was epic. Last night I noticed my brakes grinding. Originally the dealership had quoted me nearly 800 $ for labor and parts. Sean arrived at my house the same day and not only went entirely above and beyond and out of his way to get the right parts for me but quoted me half the price. If you want fast, efficient and trustworthy work at honest prices this is your guy.

Sean’s great! He’s good about communication, has fair prices, and gets the job done in a timely manner.
When my wife’s car had a problem, he did a diagnostic on the car, went and bought the parts and came back to take care of it. All around 5 o’clock on a Friday. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do is deal with work on a Friday evening. He could have easily said he couldn’t get the part until Monday (I wouldn’t have had any idea), but he took care of it all on the same day.
I’m definitely going to use his services in the future. I highly recommend him.

Sean saved the day! My car broke down, gave him a call and he came over within the hour and figured out what was wrong, then fixed my car the next day, with such a reasonable price. Sean called about a week later. He said he was sorry about not getting back to me, that he contributed in making my Easter weekend suck, and if he could cover the $ 85 I was charged by YourMechanic. I thought that was sweet. I said «I wouldn’t feel right taking it but thank you.» He then offered to come check my vehicle next time and … hmmm I forget … maybe it was to give it a free oil change.
That’s really generous, except that I no longer have a vehicle. It’s dead.
At least he called. That was nice. I wish I had a working vehicle for him to give an oil change.

Sean is amazing! I had a not-​so-​great experience with another mechanic, waiting for hours for him not to show up. From the get go, Sean was so responsive and helpful. I contacted him via e-​mail on Easter Sunday, and before I got the chance to follow up on Monday, he had already reached out. He made time to meet up with me Tuesday, and even prepared to get some of the parts I may have needed so he could start immediately.
He communicated well, updating me on how far he was from meeting me up. When he got to my car, we found out my car was worse than just my brake pads and rotors, and he immediately started calling around the find the necessary additional parts. I managed to still make it to my class when he went to go get the part. Even when I was in class, he was updating me on what was going on, and the estimated costs of everything. He was very empathetic as we found out the additional labor and parts would increase my costs (makes sense). He drove from Berkeley to El Cerrito and back and even all the way to San Leandro and back to get the necessary parts.
When he was working on my car, I was asking questions just to understand what happened and what was going on, and he was informative and helpful the whole way. Thanks to him I was able to drive home to see my mom that day, and I don’t have to worry about my brakes going out (scary feeling)! Definitely, definitely recommend him!

This is guy saved my bacon today! I found him here on Unilocal,and his many five-​star reviews did not lie — he was just as competent, friendly and knowledgeable as they said he would be. Sean is an experienced mechanic who will come to your house and fix your car (as long as he doesn’t need shop equipment to do it, and he’ll tell you whether he can or not) more conveniently and for far less money than a dealership or shop will charge you. I knew my starter was bad, and once he fixed that, I asked him if there was anything else wrong (since my car’s at 160K miles and I skipped the 120K tuneup) — he found two other things and fixed those too. My car runs a LOT better now. Thanks, Sean! Put his number in your phone now, you’re gonna need it at some point. ;)

This review is long overdue as I had worked with Sean about a year ago on my Honda and recently had the opportunity again to get him to help me with my Mazda as well.
There’s a good reason why Sean gets all 5-​star reviews on Unilocal.He is great at what he does and his charges for parts and labor are reasonable.
I called Sean to get rear brake pads replaced on my Mazda 3. Sean arrived promptly at the given time and explained to me about the work that will be performed. I handed my keys to him and within 30 – 40 mins he was done with all the work. He also took the car for a quick spin to make sure the brake pads were working as expected.
Its been about a month now and the brakes work great. Such a timesaver having him work on my car at my place and that too at a very reasonable price.
I would recommend you give Sean a call! You won’t be disappointed.

I would just like to thank Sean for the great customer service, and work he did on my car. Sean arrived to my home and soon after begin to work on my brakes and rotors. He put both front and rear hardware all around. I couldn’t believe how fast he was. I expected it to take much longer because of my past experiences with previous mechanics. I thought I needed new brakes on my car as they were squeaking. Sean came out and after taking off my tire and looking at my breaks he concluded there was no need to replace. Really appreciate his honesty and integrity. There is a reason why he has over 100 5 star reviews. I want to just confirm what others have already said. Will definitely be calling him in the future for any repairs on my car.

Firstly, it was a pleasure to speak to this man. He was equal parts honest and professional. We had a candid conversation that led me to the best course of action to repair my vehicle. Although Sean was not entirely equipped to service my vehicle, we were able to determine that over the phone without wasting time and money. Sean is a great guy and great mechanic. His prices are a good deal lower than shops and he comes to you, which is super convenient! Honest, reliable, good work; he’s so much better than repair shops in all ways!

I was able to get a jump to get home, but found myself with a dead battery on a work day morning and lots of hassle to try to get it to a shop. Sean saves the day… In less that an hour I had a quote and he was at my doorstep. Best service ever. He replaced my battery. The fee was beyond fair considering that he bought the battery for me, brought it to my house, and replaced it in less than 15 min. No waiting at a shop. Super nice guy.

I have a Lexus SUV that would not start, AAA had been out multiple time to jump the car and test the battery. They had replaced the battery about 1 year ago and claimed the battery was ok. Still after they would leave and I’d turn the car off and «nothing». Sean figured out the problem over the phone, came out in 30 minutes and fixed the car in 15 minutes. Wow!, Great Service!!, and a Great Guy!

Sean is running a very legitimate, down to earth business that is all about the customer! We needed to change out a battery, he went to buy the battery for us, installed it very quickly and what we paid him was absolutely reasonable and fair and not anywhere near what we would have paid at a dealership or anywhere else for that matter. It was clear to me from the beginning that he operated on a level of respect that was becoming of a wise business owner as well as a good man in general. If you need your car fixed please call Sean first! I called him last Sunday to make an appointment for Monday and instead he offered to come over that afternoon to check/​fix my front brakes. He was able to affirm the diagnosis after I told him the sound my car was making. He quoted me two different prices on the phone, one with new rotors and one without new rotors. He came within the hour and texted me beforehand. He was prompt, friendly and explained what he was doing. It only took him a half hour to put new rotors on and change my brake pads and he did it on a Sunday! He did a test drive and then told me to do a test drive. The noise had vanished. He saved me time and $ 100-​$ 150 from previous shop prices when I have had the same job done previously. I highly recommend him.

Sean is great! He comes to you, no more waiting at the mechanic’s. He replaced my brakes in less than an hour, was EARLY to our appointment, and charged nearly half of the other quotes I received. He is professional and legit. Sean took the car on a test drive after he was done to make sure everything was good and then waited while I took my car for a spin, to make sure everything was working correctly. I HIGHLY recommend his services.

Long story short called @ 9 got roadside service for an alternator and belt by 12 for a great price. Double checked his work and cleaned up all for a great price. +++++ Sean is a great person too and a blessing to meet!

I called Sean up for some work on my brakes for my Toyota Rav 4. He was very familiar with the model and asked a few pertinent questions. Before calling him, I called a number of Auto shops who quoted very much higher rates than he did, but I intended to do some shopping around before I committed to anything. He seemed so friendly and knowledgable that I put him high on the candidates list.
Another couple of pluses were that he had much more flexible hours and was able and willing to come to me. He even knew the area well. I arranged a time for him to come out, and he was prompt and called prior to arrival.
When Sean arrived, he was read and equipped and his friendly and helpful attitude on the phone was even more so in person. I appreciated his taking the time to go through the repair costs, what was entailed with the replacement, and the costs were outlined well. The repair went super-​quickly, and when he was done, the financial transaction was quick and painless.
I’ve promised him that I’ll be calling him on some other work of lesser urgency. I wish all of my experiences with car repair had been as good as this.

My neighbor referred me to Sean when my car battery was dead — I called him, he came over to check it out within 15 mins — and on a Sunday! Super nice, friendly, knowledgable and cool guy! He came back Monday morning by 8 am with the new battery, changed it out, took the old one to dispose of, checked out the rest of the engine, and voila! Done in 10 mins. All around great experience!

Friendly, flexible, professional, affordable. Charged 30% less than a shop to change my brakes and was able to do it on short notice. Was late due to a previous appointment running long but notified me WELL ahead of time and arrived within his new estimate. Did diagnostics for other stuff for free.

Appears to be a good mechanic. However, my recent experience with SEAN is that he doesn’t get back to prospective customers. HOWEVER, this was due to his getting hurt (pretty seriously and in a manner that really inhibited his ability to work on cars) while doing a job. Consequently, I want to re-​do my review for Sean.
He was able to set up an appointment when better and he is an excellent mechanic and extremely fair in price. He was very apologetic about his nt getting ack to me when he got hurt. Since I have been in the same place in the past, I don’t want his rating to be inaccurate.
Sean’s experience demonstrates a wide variety of expertise. If he can do the job as a mobile mechanic, he will. I had a negative experience with another mobile mechanic when I couldn’t retain Sean. In that case, the guy was not honest about being able to fix my other vehicle as a mobile provider. Sean would be upfront about that and help get a customer to a good shop.
I am going to use Sean as my «regular» mechanic. It is great to have someone come to your home for maintenance needs as well as repair work. And believe me, the labor charges are greatly reduced from those we pay to a shop.
Sean was careful with my car and took all precautions to make certain no oil was spilled on my street or driveway. He brings all of the necessary oil recycling containers to bring to facilities. He was on time and is professional.

okay, this is going to sound unbelievable, but its all true.. .
Sean is an honest mechanic, with great skills and great communication. I found him through Unilocal and as long as Sean is fixing cars, he’s my mechanic.
~He came within 24 hours of my call to him.
~He diagnosed my problem, explained everything, changed my starter, went to get me a new battery and installed it in under 2.5 hours!
~all for a more than a fair price!

Currently out of the country. Still responds to his emails! (Cell is currently disconnected due to trip). I was amazed that he’d get back to me so promptly and offer his advice on how to spot potential problems with a Prius.
Looking at all the reviews and my small interaction it seems that Sean is an honest and competent mechanic.

My poor PT Cruiser had been parked in my driveway for the past 6 months with an issue with the stupid battery I had purchased from AAA. I kept getting dicked around trying to utilize my warranty with that battery, so I said fuck it, I’m just going elsewhere.

He was willing to come to my home within 24 hours of making the call to him. Sweet!
He arrived when he said he would. battery in hand. Popped that puppy into my car and vrooom. PT is back in action. He advised me to immediately get an oil change and such since my car had been out of commission for a spell. Which, I did immediately after he left.
