Salut is one of my absolute favorite wine shops in WNY. They’re located in the center of East Aurora on Main Street, so whenever there’s a street festival going on, or something fun to celebrate, Salut is always there pouring samples. The ladies who run the shop are always very bubbly and willing to offer their recommendations. The best part about their shop in my opinion, is the area for classes in the back. Salut offers various classes throughout the month(join their mailing list!), including wine pairing, mixology, and regional wine based classes. The classes are free, but do fill up quickly; I’ve gone to a number of them, and they’re always a fun time! I loved the class with Mason Winfield who shared ghost stories that he paired with different wines! The nice thing about the classes(especially from a business standpoint), is that patrons can purchase the wine or spirits after the class. I think it’s a great, interactive way to taste before you buy anything. Their selection may not rival the larger stores in the area, but everything is hand selected for a reason. They also carry a lot of local wineries and distilleries– local businesses all the way!

Since the closing of Mainly Wine a while back, the uptown shopping district has been in need of a boutique wine and liquor store, and Salut fills that niche nicely. If you are a casual wine drinker, and your favorite wines are cheap white zinfandels or kangaroo-related Australian wines, you might not like the selection. The staff is knowledgable and can help you find something for your palate, but it is unlikely you will recognize any of the labels. If selection is more important to you than trying something new, then you’ll want to try one of the other stores in town. This is especially true if you need a wider selection of liquor to choose from. However, Salut’s intimate store size and unique selections do make it a great fit for the uptown Main Street shopping district. I have shopped there numerous times and I intend to do so many more times in the future.

A breezy, sky-blue wine store on East Aurora’s main strip. Salut’s run by the bubbly Kelly, who’s happy to recommend a bottle or just sample you a sip of whatever she’s drinking lately. There’s a rockin’ bargain basket on the counter with decent wines — a good place to start. I don’t get out to EA very often, but I’m looking forward to going back here!

If you’re looking for an intimate wine and spirits shopping experience, Salut is for you. The owner, Kelly, is as friendly as she is knowledgeable, and will have plenty of ideas based on what you’re looking for. She recommended two lovely options for me recently when I was looking for a new wine to pair with duck. The 2009 Sancerre Le Mont Rouge we chose was fantastic. Also, check out their«Basket of Last Bottles,» which are 10% off. And then there’s the spirits. They have vodka, rum and anything you might need to stock your average bar, but there’s a sophisticated flair to their offerings and some less common(yet delightful) picks in their repertoire: think St. Germain, Campari, etc. Sure, it’s a seemingly slim selection compared to the big box stores or even Premier, but I’d rather have fewer, better options any day. Sometimes the big places are just overwhelming. To add even more charm and likability, they partner with Vera to do cocktail events — look out for those. Although it’s entirely away from my neighborhood, I’ll enjoy shopping here each chance I get. What a lovely addition to Main Street in East Aurora!

As one of the employees of Salut Wine & Spirits, I am so enthusiastic about the selection we have to offer! Owner Kelly has carefully selected each and every bottle in the store, and we want every customer to be able to find the perfect bottle for every occasion at every price. Even if you don’t live in the East Aurora, NY, you should absolutely make the trip. Main Street has so many wonderful small businesses, and we all try to support each other’s success. Salut is brand new – we hope you will stop in, have a great experience, and spread the word!!!
