Specialties

We have an ice cream shop, outdoor pirate bar, and we provide cruises on the Eagle River chain of lakes aboard the William Charles, our very own PIRATE SHIP. We do cruises for small groups and private parties that accommodate up to 35 people. Come sail with us. Arrrrgh!

History

Established in 2004.

The pirate ship set sail in 2004 after driving through downtown Eagle River for the 4th of July parade. Since that time, we have developed our business and have become a popular family and group attraction. We are a small family-​run operation, and take pride in providing our guests with tasty treats, cold beverages, and fun-​filled pirate ship parties for all ages.

Manager

My name is Stevo. I am a University of Wisconsin Madison graduate and a life long pirate. Most importantly, I am Captain Steve’s son and have taken a large role in the establishment of our business. Whether scheduling a ride or hanging around at Pirates-​Hideaway, you are sure to either see, arrrgh, or speak with me. I look forward to meeting you!

Visiting family in the eagle river area and decided to do coffee with the captain. My boys loved it and my wifeand I really enjoyed the boat tour. Saw wildlife and the kids got tattoos from captain Steve. Nice place to come and listen to music as well in the evening and have a beer. Great for families.

Great experience for the family! We went on a 8:30 coffee cruise. The lakes were calm and not a lot of boat traffic. It was relaxing and Captain Steve and Steve-​O were fantastic hosts and very knowledgable and pointed out Eagles and their nests. We had a great time and we are already contemplating a private rental next year!

More than I expected. A family run business that makes you feel part of their family. I brought my wife, 6 year old son, father in law and his brother and we all had an amazing time. Who would think you could take a Caribbean like pirate cruise in the northwoods? The length of the cruise is perfect, they have a nice bar on shore you can grab a few drinks for your two hour cruise. They point out some neat wildlife along the trip (we saw a bald eagle ms his kids) and we end the journey with the opportunity to walk the plank, a real plank 10 ft above the lake. Steve and his son Steve run the ship and do an amazing job engaging everyone on the cruise. Seriously have a conversation with them, you won’t regret it. I wish I could do what they do. All in all a great time and we will be regulars now every summer. Thanks guys!

We’ve gone here several times — from land and sea. They have a nice grassy area with fire pits and chairs and hula hoops. A large bar outside and ice cream available inside.

Went on our first pirate ship ride last week and it was great! Love the ship, Steve and Steve-​O the pirates, the tiki bar and the entire experience. Great fun!

This place is a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I are spending a week at the Wild Eagle Lodge and happen to come across this place when we took a short walk to venture about. Captain Steve and his son Stevo are really hospitable, friendly, and the décor reminds me of a Caribbean hideaway vibe. Super cool layout, décor, etc… what originally was going to be a quick drink ended up being a 4−½ hour night because we found them so enjoyable. And did I mention cheap drinks at about $ 4?! (well compared to Chicago). You got to check this place out!

You are guaranteed to have the time of your life on the pirate ship. Taking a ride on the ship with good friends is always the highlight of my summer. The Strauss family is amazing, friendly, talented and extremely accommodating. The tiki bar on the lake provides the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the beautiful Northwoods summer nights and days. Family friendly as well.

I have been on about 6 trips with Pirate Hideaway and we will continue to book trips with friends and family. The trips are great and are very family friendly.
Captain Steve is great and always takes us on an adventure. The pirate ship offers a ton of activities while we tour the lakes and walking the plank is probably the best part of the whole trip.
