History

Established in 1964.

Huddle House was founded in 1964 by John Sparks. Having already opened a few restaurants under various names, he needed a great name for his restaurant chain. One evening at his restaurant in Decatur, Georgia, he saw a boy meeting friends after football practice. The group was «huddled up», talking and laughing together. It was at that moment he decided that Huddle House was the perfect name for the restaurant and it would be the place where folks would gather, or «huddle up,» for great food and good times.

John Sparks continued to successfully build the Huddle House brand for many years by adhering to his core values of providing great service and serving quality food cooked-​to-​order to ensure it is always fresh, hot and delicious. When John Sparks passed away in 1978, his wife, Pauline, took the lead until Huddle House was sold to a private firm in 1994.

I showed up at 7am and wasn’t sure they where open, no cars in the parking lot. They open at 6am and the Wait staff was very friendly. Food was a little better than average. The tables seem very busy with the menus and all the stuff they are advertising for the restaurant.

This place is right next door to our hotel and ordered a to go order and they sux my grilled chicken sandwich didn’t have any vegetables and fries were cold and my bf burger looked like someone took a bite plus veggies either! So then I called and asked for a manager and there wasn’t one!!! What place doesn’t have a manager on duty at all times!!! I will never go back to this shity service place!!!

We were staying at the hotel next to the restaurant and decided to go for breakfast. Everything was going well until our food arrived. All 4 breakfast platters had cold eggs. We told the waitress and she said she would microwave the platters. We stated we would like new eggs and she walks away and we see her stick our plates in the microwave.
We told her if she was going to give us reheated food we would rather just leave. We didnt see a manager and our server just stood there next to the microwave waiting for the food to warm up so we left.
Had high hopes since everything looked good on the menu with reasonable prices.
One star for having Minute Maid orange juice!

I visited this place in August 2014 but was not a Unilocal user then. I have just read the other reviews and noticed that it’s either a hit or miss. Well, I was lucky to have had a good experience. The girl who helped me out was very friendly and never allowed my coffee to go below the halfway mark. The portions were very generous and my food was steaming hot when it was served. It was not crowed but it was not empty. The only reason why I docked a star is because I like my eggs scrambled hard and that’s not what I was served. But, I was starving and I just ate them.

Best breakfast in town ! Service was friendly, and prompt, it’s nice to have a choice in town besides that filthy skillet restaurant. Food was served hot and was a huge portion for the price. It’s Sunday morning at 8:00 am, maybe why service was good? I will be back for sure. Lunch menus look amazing

Wow… Huddle House their logo is huddle in… but sorry it’s huddle out to me. Passing thru the town and we decided to grab breakfast. The server appeared to be in a bad mood and rushing thru the order. A tip for you «if you’ve had a bad start to your day call in.» He was most unhappy for whatever reason. We ordered the MVP breakfast for 6.99. Reasonable for the value. Waffles were served first which we found odd. Another server brought them and she was in a bad mood too. They were cold and we sent them back while asking for the manager. She was pleasant and helpful. Our order came and the food was good. Server avoided us and never came back to check up. Overall experience rated a one star and probably will not return. Management needs to have coaching lessons for her staff on customer etiquette.

This place was horrible, it took 2 hours to finally get our food and was overflowing with people. Very understaffed and takes long to get service and even get change for $ 20. Overall horrible experience. Will not be returning ever!
