I really enjoyed Taco Trader and this was my first time here today, as I have just moved to the area. I choose the beef taco salad and a beef soft taco, the ingredients were FRESH! I was very amazed at that. The lettuce was so green and you can just tell they are conscientious of what products they buy/sell. The flavor was strong and yet subtle and not overpowering. The taco bowl was the best ever, as some places you can tell their fryers need cleaned or something, but this bowl was not greasy and was perfectly brown and tasty. I got my order to-go and with that most places just jam your food into a paper bag and call it good: Taco Trader made sure that my food was presented just the same as if I were to eat there(I assume by the presentation of the taco salad, looked so pretty). As it was my first visit I stared at the menu on the wall for a while and no one bothered me, they just waited patiently for me to walk up to the counter. I really hope others check out this place!

Soft cheese, soft cheese, soft cheese. THISPLACEISAMAZING. The owner’s late Uncle had a place on 95th and Ewing for 40+ years. We thought we had enjoyed our last taco and soft cheese meal when the Ewing restaurant closed years ago. We were thrilled to hear the nephew opened Taco Trader. The food is great, the restaurant is clean and bright and the staff if friendly and knowledgeable. We love this place and will be back… OFTEN!

We always wondered why it looked empty inside every time we passed by. Now we know. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Updated review: The food is still as great as I’ve said in my previous review. This is a review of the atmosphere inside the restaurant. The management needs to change their attitude towards customers. My family went visited the other day and heavy metal was blaring the whole time. My father asked the manager/owner to reduce the volume a bit and his response was«that’s the way we keep it» and refused to change it. He then proceeded to ignore my disabled father at the counter for another customer when all he needed was a take home box. If there’s anything to keep me and other customers away it is the unfriendly management. Food = 5 star Service = 2 — 3 star

Solide Mexican food. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. Chicken tacos were very good and the ingredients seemed to be very fresh.

Love this place! Must try the cheese sauce and the steak burrito! Unfortunately, I do not like any of the salsas, really, so I can’t give it five stars. If you’re a nacho oerson, definitely try their nacho dish(has guacamole, sour cream, etc. on it). The workers are super friendly and all the food is fare trade. Sort of like a Chipotle without the person wrapping it up for you as you progress down the line.

I live in Chicago, but my husband’s parents live in Dyer. We tried this place while in town and it was awesome! It’s like really authentic mexican(vs Chipotle) and seems pretty healthy. The shredded chicken was awesome! I got the bowl and my husband got the tostadas. Both were excellent! We will definitely be back. not sure who all the people are that are saying it’s horrible. Haha, also it isn’t expensive at all. Totally in line with all the other fast casual places.

Still is horrible overpriced food. What a disappointment. In my opinion the food is unsafe and from what I see not so sanitary. Get ur act together. My prediction is this will be a empty storefront by 2016. Atleast I hope so

Not very good. I went here and the food was expensive(which is fine if its good), but the food was worse than most normal mexican restaurants around here. Definitely not worth going to.

The food is FANTASTIC! I absolutely love the crispy beef tacos and guacamole! Have you tried their new Fish Tacos? Absolutely a must! The topping for this taco is fresh and sweetened with honey. It is just a wonderful fresh combination. All fish lovers must try this one.

Love this place. Great quality food at an affordable price. We mainly order takeout and food is always ready on time. My kids love the kids meal. Chicken, pork, and steak are all delicious, and the nachos are ridiculously good!

I wanted to try this place, and I did. I’m sorry I did. Everything you order on the side is extra. The large pop that looks like a small is $ 2.00! The salsa is just tomato paste with spices… bad! The steak burrito was so small, and the meat itself was cut in large chunks. If you want real Mexican food, go to Ruebens!

This place has the same food as the old Mexican Inn in Chicago. The food is all delicious and their salsa is the most amazing you will find(mix it with their refried beans). Drove almost 2 hours to this place and it was well worth it!!!

I’m giving this place 5 stars because I was quite satisfied with my visit today and it’s my first time trying it out. — Fresh food and appropriately priced portions. — Fast and friendly service. — The restaurant is very clean. They have restrooms! — Great for families. I ordered the Trader Bowl with pork. Very tasty! It comes with Spanish rice, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, some salsa and a sprinkling of cheese. Their salsa is surprisingly good, considering they make it themselves along with their hot sauce. It was comfortably spicy(for me at least) and flavorful. Overall, I was very satisfied with their food and friendly service. I’m definitely coming back to try something else from their menu — that Soft Cheese sounds good!

Okay, so I tried something new today. This place definitely isn’t a vegan haven, BUT, they do have options! I walked in and was immediately greeted with a friendly smile from the young man behind the counter. The atmosphere is clean and quite nice for an independant store… Simple, not over done and everything is very sturdy– I didn’t feel like I was going to hit the floor. I asked about the menu and was given very courteous answers. On the downside: The beans DO have lard in them and there is no other ‘veggie’ meat option for the dishes. Upside?: The fries are absolutely fantastic! They put them in their own fryer so vegans/vegetarians don’t have to worry about the meat issue. You get a nice large box and you cannot beat the price! The guacamole was fresh(and there is no sour cream for you vegans!) but I personally would have liked more lime and cilantro in it. They may not have a bunch of vegan options but I will definitely be coming back! What I did get was fantastic and great for the price :-)

Since my initial review I have been berated with negative and profane emails from Taco Trader. Sorry guys but the truth hurts and trust me you cannot silence me.
