I have been a fan of their food for years and lately it has really been a horrible experience. I’ve given them several chances and my pizza just keeps looking worse and worse. The customer service has been bad, as well. The lady was rude and basically blamed me for food they had forgotten.

Ordered pizza a few weeks ago to try a different place from the norm. Well, I suppose there’s a reason I don’t necessarily always deviate from my norm. The pizza was greasy from the crumbled sausage(I think), had no taste, and was cut all weird. Will not be going back considering there are other places I enjoy much more than this one. One good thing… it was quicj, which makes sense because it was empty.

Only because I had to give it a star, if you want to spend $ 30 on cold undercooked food this is the place for you. i picked up pizza and creamed spinach. The pizza was cold and very under cooked spinach was almost frozen. We quit having them deliver because they can never find our house and 2 hours for a pizza I picked up the pizza should have ran into waltz grabbed a frozen pizza. It would have been warmer! This food really sucked Back to hot and yummy state line pizza

We have gone to John’s for years and unfortunately seen a gradual but steady decline. Went this past week for pizza and had mixed feelings by the end of dinner. Pizza crust was crisp and thin(yum!) but toppings were hit and miss and we waited over 45 minutes at the table for the pizza. I ordered a dinner salad extra since I was starving and we had no indication when the pizza might be coming from the generally-absent waitress. More on that momentarily. The salad, for which I waited a good 15 minutes, was very small. Do love their creamy garlic dressing and the fresh zucchini blended with the greens, but that was NOT a $ 3.95 salad! Server failed to add the salad to the bill, and when I pointed out that I owed her for that she became flustered. I will say that she was taking care of all tables in the dining room, but we were sorely neglected in the end.

From now on I ONLY order from Griffith. The people there are friendly and my standard order is always good. I don’t really deviate. I get the sausage and mushroom pizza or the Baked Beef. My husband and I came and ate here on a Friday. It was dead at dinner time which is a bad sign. I used to come here more years ago. What the heck happened? The waitress left us alone for a long time and never refilled our drinks. The food was bad and the place was filthy. Argh

I normally enjoy the pizza here, so my boyfriend and I decided to return back to this restaurant after not having eaten here for over three years. We were seated almost immediately, and were shocked to realize that this restaurant is nearly empty on a Friday night during normal dinner rush hours. We were not greeted by our waitress until after having sat there for about five minutes, and it took her another five to grab drinks. We ordered, and the waitress had to ask us to repeat our order numerous times, as she clearly was not familiar with the menu. I ordered the chicken michael luke and waited almost forty minutes for my entrée. Upon receiving it, I noticed that the breading wasn’t evenly cooked, but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I took one bite, and nearly choked. There was so much butter and salt that it wasn’t edible. We received a free appetizer due to a Friday special, and the appetizer had zero flavor. The waitress didn’t come back to check on us until after we were well done with our meals, and I asked her if I could speak to a manager about getting my entrée taken off of my bill. The manager never came out, and told the waitress that if I wanted it taken off of my bill I would have to pay for the soup that came along with it. This place is ridiculously unprofessional and clearly does not take the time to appreciate their customers or train their employees. The owners have taken a classic cal city restaurant and run it into the ground. WILLNEVERRETURN.

Coming from Calumet City,(that is where the legendary original Johns made its infamous debut) I was excited to come here when our friends suggested it for a dinner date. We were all starving and they kept raving about the pizza on the way over there. We started with martinis. they were HORRIBLE to put it politely. Sent them back. Ordered fried zucchini… it was soggy and tasted like old grease. Tried the«foccicia» app… it looked like artichoke dip but realized to our dismay that it was piles and piles of large RAW garlic on it and had to spit it in our napkins. Ordered 2 pizzas and as all of the other review stated we couldn’t believe how soggy and bland it was. I think out of the 2 pizzas there was about 4 pieces eaten and then they were sent back to the kitchen. I ordered the chicken michael luke and a salad(all core on a plate… it looked like cauliflower). It came with choice of soup. either chicken noodle or minestrone. Since the waitress said that the chicken noodle was just about out of noodles I opted for the minestrone… PUREPEPPER =(the chicken was HORRIBLE. something that might be attempted on a students first day of their cooking class, and the potatoes that were highly reccommended by the waitress had more huge slices of raw garlic in them. Our friends were mortified that they took us there and we all left still hungry but totally turned off. Such a sad dissappointment, especially since I had such fond memories of the original Johns in Cal City. How sad for the people who worked so hard to build a successful brand that became legendary back in the day. I’m sorry Johns, we would not come back.

As a family of pizza lovers, we decided to try John’s for something different. We were hoping for a good local place. It was a one-and-done. Our service was fine, but the pizza is truly not good. Nothing at all good to say about it. I mean them no harm, and only want to give fair warning to others.

We decided to try John’s for a change. Close to $ 40 for a single topping pizza and a couple of appetizers. The appetizers tasted okay although the amount for the price was poor. The real distaste was the pizza itself. Probably the worst pizza we have ever had. Ground sausage and a lack-luster crust left us wishing we had a frozen one for a back-up. In addition, who delivers pizza in a bag? The paper had absorbed some of the sauce and was stuck to the pizza. If it wasn’t so cold outside, I’d drive there to give them back their crap they sold us. We called to ask a few questions and were met by a rude female manager. Save your money and pick up a Home Run Pizza for a fraction of the price + no attitude.

I heard nothing but good things about this place so I was excited to check it out since my husband is a pizza lover. We were so extremely disappointed in the pizza!!! It’s really hard to screw up a pizza(I am not that picky) It sucked! It’s bad enough that it was all soggy and didn’t taste good, but the bottom was BURNTANDTHEREWAS A PIECEOFBLACKHAIRINITTOOOOO!!! We also ordered some cheese sticks and were surprised to see only 4 tiny ones in the container for $ 5.00! NEVERAGAIN! I think the frozen pizzas taste 100 times better than this crap!

I really wanted to love John’s. Really, really. My dad loves this place. It’s thisclose to my house. It’s won some local awards. A great, local, pizza place? A forever win in my book. Unfortunately, John’s isn’t going to be this place. The first time we tried John’s we ordered the Four Cheese pizza. It was… meh. Bland. Soggy. Greasy. My daughter looked at me with a bit of suspicion, «I thought this place was well-reviewed on Unilocal? Are we at the right place? Did you get lost again?»(I admittedly, can get lost in my own neighborhood). Alas, we were not lost. Just disappointed. And still hungry since we didn’t even finish our pizza. The next time we tried John’s we ordered the Vegetarian pizza. Again with the flimsy, soggy pizza. What’s up with that? I don’t know. We asked our waitress about it and she informed us that«their pizza is good and everyone else says so.» Oh, okay. So, if you like a soggy pizza that ranks below Papa John’s and above frozen – hit this place up. Maybe you’ll be a part of the«everyone else» crowd.

A family favorite for years… great pizza, their sausage sets them apart, and great drink specials-the perfect combo!

Does that snotty blonde bartender still work in the bar? That is the main reason we don’t stop at the bar. She was always on the phone and acted like it was a big deal to wait on you. The pizza IS special. Only place I will eat meat on pizza willingly. The garden(has meat, don’ t ask…) is the bomb!
