I’ve been a client at Earth Tones Cohasset for over six years now and recently started coming to Duxbury to get my hair colored. Katie Teeter is hands down the best hair colorist I’ve had in my life(and I’ve been coloring my hair since 7th grade!!) During my first appointment she took a lot of time to listen to what I wanted, the problems I’ve had with past colorist, and look at the pictures I brought in. Getting the right blonde took a couple of appointments(I was very brassy before) but now that we’re there, I couldn’t be happier! I go in every 5 weeks for touchups and it always looks fantastic after. Not to mention, she’s just a lovely person to talk to for three hours! I’ve never had anything but great experiences at Earth Tones and highly recommend it!

I’m a very low maintenance guy(NOT metro sexual). I came here for a basic haircut. The stylist absolutely butchered my hair. I came out looking like an eggplant. Guys, take my word, you are better off going to super cuts.

Stay away! The owner was SO rude to me, it was totally uncalled for. I won’t be returning and I really recommend you take your business elsewhere if you want even a minimal level of customer service.

I have never had so many compliments on a hair style and color! After years of hairdresser hopping, I came upon Tracey, who did a complete makeover of this middle aged woman who had verged upon frumpiness! I could not be more pleased. She took the time to talk about me and my hair, and gave me a beautiful new style. She gave me a «do» that has transformed me!!! She is incredibly talented, the salon is beautiful, and the products are amazing! Look out world… here I come!!!

Unsanitary salon! Stay clear… See article below. «Duxbury salon owner to pay $ 600 fine to settle unsanitary conditions allegation» «The owner of a Duxbury salon has agreed to pay a $ 600 fine to resolve allegations of unsanitary conditions and operating the business without a license, according to a statement from the state Board of Registration of Cosmetologists. Tracey E. Leahy was accused of having unsanitary conditions and using unsterilized tools at her salon, Earth Tones, in Duxbury. State inspectors from the Division of Professional Licensure said she was also operating with an expired cosmetology shop license.»

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience at this salon, chosen specifically because I like Aveda products. I was warmly greeted, seated early, and was listened to when I described what I was looking for: a cool brown allover color with cool blonde ombré highlights in front, plus a blunt cut as I’m growing my over-thinned short hair out so as to have some weight and heft to the ends. Just not sure I was heard… $ 200 later(inclusive of gratuity) I had reddish brown hair with a color-blocked golden blonde bangs and a long, Bonnie Raitt-style golden yellow streak down the right side. My 11 year old said I looked like a skunk. The color was warm, not cool as requested, and there was no ombré going on whatsoever, though the highlights did start an inch down from the root of my bangs. This was a Saturday afternoon. I called on Tuesday to come back in and have the highlights fixed and was given an appointment on Wednesday in the afternoon just as I requested. So back in the chair the same stylist painted over my highlights with the same allover reddish brown and popped in a few more foils that afterward barely showed through. After she seated me in a chair for processing time, she barely spoke to me again. Another stylist washed and blew out my hair, and was very sweet. I couldn’t NOT tip her for the error correction, so now my experience cost me $ 210. I went home still unhappy with my allover color, lack of highlights, and now absolutely no ombré. My hair has a reddish tint which I abhore, I trimmed my own bangs again as they were too long, and I purchased a L’Oreal Ombré kit from Target for $ 12.99 and gave myself dimension to the monochromatic appearance. Won’t be going back.

This is my second time at this salon both times seeing Melissa and I have to say that I loved the result each time. I went in the first time with damaged hair from another salon and she fixed the mess that was my hair. My second time seeing her and even though there was a lot of color added, my hair does not look over processed at all! I have received several compliments and I owe it all to her :) I would highly recommend Melissa and I will definitely become long term client of hers!

Have been a client at Earth Tones since 2001. Love the salon, the atmosphere and the staff. Tracey, the owner, has been my primary stylist since my first visit but currently Tracey is cutting my hair and Lauren is doing color. I have also used Laura for cuts and color. Both are excellent and I would recommend all three women highly. Have only been to the 2nd Earth Tones salon up in Cohasset once but would also recommend that if more convenient than Duxbury. Last summer, my daughter’s entire wedding party and family all got their ‘wedding do’s «done there and the experience was top drawer. In short, I highly recommend both salons.

I have been seeing Nicole Fitzgerald for probably about four years and when she started working at Earth Tones I followed her. She is super patient with my ever changing style and always does an amazing job. She spent a great amount of time perfecting my soft platinum blond hair which has become my signature. She is super knowledgable about her profession and does a great cut color and style every time. All the employees at this salon have been super professional and nice. I love getting my hair done by Nicole and truly recommend checking out Earth Tones.

This hippie salon sucks big time. I called on the phone to ask if they cut mens hair. She said yes and it would be $ 25. I said OK because I didn’t feel like driving up to Norwell to the Black Tie Barbershop. The woman who cut my hair was nice enough and did a good job. When I went to pay the cashier said it would be $ 40. I explained that I just had a mens haircut — no shampoo or highlights, etc. The cashier said that my stylist was level 1 and that’s what she charges. Oh, a level 1? I had no idea. My bad. Wait, WTF is a level 1 stylist?! «Didn’t you go on the website ‚“she asks? No, it’s a haircut. I called and someone told me $ 25. At this point the manager comes over and says«sorry» but that’s what we charge. I can’t believe they didn’t honor the $ 25 they quoted on the phone. And who expects people to visit a website for an explanation of your product when it’s just a haircut? This place is a joke.

Earth Tones is a modern, spa-like hair salon in Duxbury. My stylist, Stacey, came highly recommended from one of my patients. Overall, my experience was very nice. Stacey made sure she knew exactly what I wanted my hair to look like before she started, gave me an amazing scalp massage, and cut my hair perfectly. She is a perfectionist and made sure every strand of hair fell precisely the way she wanted it to. I am very pleased with my cut and will return to the salon for my future hair needs. My mom who has short hair also sees Stacey and loves the results! Highly recommend this salon.

The only reason I don’t go here anymore is because we moved! Ask for Stacy-she is a fantastic colorist as well as stylist. I also think Heather is great, and go to her if Stacy isn’t available. This salon is a bit more pricey than other local salons, but they are better quality, use the best products, and I’ve never had a bad cut or color here. My style changes year to year– sometimes long long and blonde, sometimes red, sometimes ultra short and choppy, and I pretty much just leave it up to them and have NEVER walked out with regret. My hair has always had that«wow» factor and I consider it a professional investment, because they make me look so chic and put-together. I’m going to miss this salon so much because I could always trust them, and I know that means a lot to most women when it comes to their hair.

First, let me say that this review is based purely on my one and only visit so while it was purely enjoyable and satisfying, I am holding off on rating more than 3 stars until they have demonstrated some consistency.(Hey, I know that is tough but I don’t want to lead any of my fellow Unilocalers astray!) I got an appointment the same day I called(could be a good or bad thing…). The stylist was running a few minutes behing but I was in no hurry as my appointment was after work and I had no place to rush off to. I was offered a glass of wine as I waited and the wait time fly by. When I was up, the stylist, Maureen, sat me down and asked what I wanted to do. She listened attentively, while reviewing my hair and its existing state. Then we were off to the wash stations where I received a very nice head massage with my hairwashing. Back at Maureen’s workstation, she started to slowly, but efficiently, cut my hair. The verdict… I loved it. She did what I wanted, including styling it the way I liked. The salon is conveniently located at the intersection of Rte 139 and Rte 3A. There is a private parking lot so finding parking should not be an issue. The salon was actually smaller than I imagined, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. As a first time client, I was very happy with my experience. Needless to say, as the last sentence in my first paragraph implies, I will return to this place.
