I love Red Mango. Every time I see an email from their rewards program, I feel a stab of pain as I remember that the closest Red Mango to me is not quite up to snuff. Red Mango sells frozen yogurt, but this location seems to be getting by selling partially frozen yogurt to desperate Duke students. The terrible quality here is a smear on the Red Mango name. Please invest in your equipment.

Sometimes the yogurt is too runny and gross. Flavors are alright. Not my favorite frozen yogurt joint, to say the least. Some of their smoothies are better(green smoothie is decent, sometimes too much ice).

I have to say, this yogurt is amazing. I’ve been to quite a few frozen yogurt places in my day but the flavors of this one stands out among the crowd. Their mango & white peach are my favorite. Normally a mango flavor tastes… Well fake, but this was superb! If Red Mango was any closer to my place my diet would be in trouble. Thank goodness it is a slightly healthier option.

The mango fro-yo here is soo delicious! I’ve never been too crazy about frozen yogurt in the past(mostly because I’ve always viewed it as inferior to ice cream and gelato), but this stuff here is amazing! Hands down, it’s definitely the best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had in my life. In fact, I came back here 2 more times in about a 2 month period after I initially discovered this place because it’s so good. I’m craving it now even as I’m writing this review. The ladies here are super nice too. I got a free smoothie the 2nd time I came here because I really wanted the mango fro-yo and the machine needed some time to make more. I highly recommend this place if you happen to be on Duke campus. It’s tragic this place didn’t exist when I was there for school.

Finally, a frozen yogurt place on West Campus that is close by(sorry LoYo). Tucked away in a little nook in Bryan Center is this self-serve froyo shop, with rotating seasonal flavors in addition to a few stalwart favorites. As you enter the toppings bar is closest to the entrance on the left side, with about 8 machines lining the wall, each with a set of tasting cups for free samples. My personal favorites include the Nutella, banana and tart fruit flavors; not so much a fan of the greek yogurt line. They also make some great smoothies(I recommend strawberry banana) including energy boosting ones, yogurt based and fruit based ones. Given that it is winter right now business is on the slow side, but I’m sure it will pick up with the weather. Typical serving sizes are about $ 3 – 4, smoothies are a bit more but it all depends on how much you want.

«Self-serve fro-yo, and smoothies, on Duke’s west campus!» This is a very welcome addition to the Bryan Center on Duke’s west campus. Right outside the McDonalds, you can help yourself to up to 8 different flavors of fro-yo(mango, lemonade, dark chocolate, and Nutella were some of the options today) as well as an assortment of toppings(e.g., popping boba, fresh fruits, nuts, chocolate/sprinkles). Sample cups and regular serving cups are stacked right by the machines to help yourself, and you pay by weight(I think it was $ 0.49/oz). Staff were friendly both times I’ve gone, and there are options for smoothies, though those seemed rather pricey($ 5 – 6). But since the fro-yo and toppings are self-serve, you can help yourself to a small snack for $ 2 or less, and leave with a smile. :-)
