Tiny dogs of the world unite! Here is a store that has goodies for you too! And yes, plenty of goodies for the big dogs of the world too! Plus, these are two awesome ladies who own the store– super friendly, very knowledgeable and very helpful. For the first time ever, we had someone willing to help us fit our little 4 lb poodle man for a harness– all those frustrating, maddening adjustments that you can never get just right– well, she worked with us for a good ten minutes on a busy Saturday until everything was just perfect. Plus, we were able to pick up an XXS hand-​knitted dog sweater. In addition to high quality and reasonably priced accessories for dogs of all sizes, they have an outstanding selection of food and treats. No crappy bi-​product foods here! And, they have a small, but most excellent and well-​curated selection of cat food too so we were able to pick up a few tasty morsels for our cat man as well.

Stop looking for another pet store because this place has the best staff and the best products. I cannot say enough about the staff and owners! The nicest people you’ll ever meet. They’re always there to help and give advice on your dog. A huge plus being my puppy loves going there and playing with the owners dog. I’m so glad I found this gem of a place.

Wonderful pet store – the staff is amazingly helpful, and seems to really know every product they sell. While they are lacking in some areas (I do wish they had some more cat products), overall they have a great selection. They also don’t carry many of the sketchier/​full of chemical products you are wont to find at a Petsmart or Petco. They also have frequent buyer programs for things like food and litter that help to defer the cost of their more expensive (higher quality) products.

I’ve visited this boutique a few times now and each time I have been helped by knowledgeable and friendly people who really seem to care about you and your pet. The boutique is well stocked with quality brands and healthy products. The prices seem very fair. Being new to the area, I asked for several recommendations/​referrals, and the staff was gracious and informative. They had a large selection of grain-​free and premium foods. They also carry great brands for pet beds (like Bowser Beds). I purchased a beautiful metal double food dish, a sealable dog food rolling bin, some catfish treats, and some shampoo for pups with sensitive skin. I was surprised to find these products in a small town like Durham. The owner mentioned that all of their products are USA-​made and/​or fair-​trade. I will definitely continue to give my business to this locally-​owned boutique going forward. I recommend stopping by here before you go to one of the big box pet stores. The prices are comparable but the quality or products and knowledge of staff is much higher. Furthermore, why not keep your business and money local?

Just wanted to leave a quick shout out– SO glad that we have a local Durham pet food/​supplies store! Not to mention one with the kind of customer service that you get at Other End. The ladies here are so friendly and knowledgeable, my dog loves coming in to visit, and I no longer have to drive out to Chapel Hill or Hillsborough to get my pets’ food. I’m a picky pet mama when it comes to my dog and cat food, and I only feed the best, meaning that in the past it’s been a headache to find a place that carries what I’m looking for. Not here. The vetting process for the foods they carry is rigorous and you can tell they really did their research. The in-​house made bakery products are human-​quality (I tried them– not bad!) and my dog would binge on them if I’d let her. The store has an inviting layout and a great, quality selection. I will be frequently this shop for years to come!

As good as it gets. These ladies are highly recommended by my kitty’s vet at Bull City Veterinary Hospital. I walked in with little direction as far as how to improve my cat’s diet and walked out with an incredibly sense of knowing what to look for in pet food, what goes INTO pet food and how to help my kitty lose weight. She spent 15 minutes with me discussing different food options. Every bag of food that they sell is ether made in the US, Canada or Japan. I love this place and I am so glad that I stopped in.
I didn’t get the sense that they were in the market to sell. they really care about you and what is best for your pet. She offered samples at first but I truly couldn’t leave without supporting them and I plan on making many more purchases at Other End of the Leash.

The owners of the shop make the whole shopping experience wonderful from start to finish! They are so knowledgable and willing to offer up their expertise for extended periods of time… even when just helping me decide on my favorite leash pattern for my girly girl puppy.
Their selection of products is great. Only high quality, practical and cute stuff.
It’s also not so large so as to be unmanageable (as I sometimes find chain pet stores to be). The owners clearly took care in choosing only the best products for their shop… so they’ve already done some of the work for you!
Highly highly recommend this place without hesitation. So happy to have this in downtown Durham!

The best pet store in the Triangle! Shop at local small businesses for your pets! The owners provide excellent customer service and high quality, fairly traded pet supplies, holistic nutrition and wellness product expertise. Be sure to buy their fresh dog treats that are baked in the store!

If you want cheap food and products for your pet, don’t go here. But if you want to treat your little furry beast like a princess/​prince, this is the place for you. I’m not afraid to admit I’m a tad obsessed with my cat. When I come here, I feel like I’m with my people. Everyone who works here clearly loves animals. They already know us, ask about our cat. And I love that. This is quality customer service and I don’t mind paying a little more for it – especially knowing that all the products they sell are carefully sourced and they don’t sell a thing they wouldn’t give to their animals.

I have a pitbull mix and she truly loves to visit OETL. The treats are baked on site fresh from totally natural ingredients and wholesome products, which are super tasty and healthful. My dog LOVES the treats. The products are top notch, the owners are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all their products. I described some issues I wanted to clarify for my dog and they were truly helpful, practical and pointed me to the most cost effective products. I will definitely make OETL a regular stop for my dog. Thank you.

This is my favorite pet store! The owners and employees are incredibly helpful and friendly. Lynne recommended two great products: a new supplement that has radically improved both our dogs’ digestion AND a glucosamine chondroitin pill containing Cetyl myristolate (nature’s wd-​40 for joints) and turmeric among other hard– hitters that has had a significant positive impact on our older dog’s arthritic paw. We love that they have workshops and their own bakery… And most of all appreciate their commitment to responsibly, ethically sourced products.

Twas the day before Christmas; I’d become such a louse…
My dogs had no presents. Not a one, in the house.
So off I went to this doggie boutique that had opened a few months ago in Brightleaf. When I saw the Airstream dog crate in the window, I knew this place was going to have adorable finds. And it does! I was surprised by the variety — the shop runs deep, and is packed with goodies… from bagged food and meat bones, to toys and bath care, and lots in between. It’s not as big and bountiful as Phydeaux; but I think it has a well-​curated selection with some delightful surprises. One of the two women working came over to point out a few of their hit items, which turned out to be really helpful.
The Wapiti-​brand elk antlers she recommended (which are harvested from farm-​raised elk, and don’t splinter) were the hit of my dogs’ stocking stuffers. But they’re also crazy about the baked-​in-​house treats. The flavor when I visited was bacon-​cheddar, but the staff changes things up regularly. A great addition to downtown!

Diane and Leann are wonderful as is their store. We recently rescued a German Shorthaired Pointer who had a lot of fear issues as she was at the shelter and surrendered by her first owner. Diane was the first person besides my boyfriend and me that she opened up to.
Walking around the store, sitting for treats and getting some love all helped boost our puppy’s confidence. When she met Leann a couple days later she went right up to her and made friends.
The store is well stocked with amazing pet essentials at reasonable prices. Grace has a harness which Diane helped us fit, that has become a lifesaver on walks. She also was kind enough to give us puppy food samples when Grace first came to us to encourage her to eat in those first couple days.
Great store, great people. 100% recommend this to anyone with a four-​legged friend.

We just visited OEOTL for the first time today, and it was a great experience. Diane and LeAnn are extremely helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. The products are all made in America and/​or free/​fair trade, which we were sure would make it out of our price range. We were thrilled to find out, though, that their products are price comparable to other large, chain pet stores (the food we’d been buying is only $ 3 cheaper than what we’re now buying from them). Also, our visit was pleasant; it didn’t feel like a chore, which is how I usually feel about shopping for our pup’s food. We’re so happy to have this great place in downtown Durham!
