Great food, nice people, good prices. Hummus is great — really, really smooth and flavorful. Greek salad was incredibly fresh. We tried three different pitas(chicken gyro, beef & lamb and kofta) — all were great. Next time, were having kabobs and curry. Can’t wait!

Best Mediterranean food in the Triangle, especially the lamb. The employees are friendly, the food is always delicious, and the service is fairly quick unless it’s Friday. Be sure to check out the grocery area not only for a wide variety of middle eastern ingredients but also for some very fresh produce and halal meat

I simply cannot get enough of this place. I find myself stopping by once a week for my gyro fix. My girlfriend really enjoys their falafel, but I love that lamb/beef gyro. The location is probably not the best, it’s in a run down strip mall. But the interior is clean and the staff is warm and friendly. There’s a few tables inside and outside if you want to dine-in and watch some football(soccer), but being a market as well, it’s more of a grab and go sort of restaurant. The staff are very friendly, and will happily let you sample almost everything they serve. Coming from California, I have high standards for Mediterranean style wraps, but this place really knocks it out of the park. The produce they use is fresh and the meat and wraps are very high quality. The grocery section carries a small selection of basic stuff, like grape leaves, goat cheeses, and lentils. I pick up some of my favorite kalmata olives as well as some pita wraps when I stop by. The prices of the groceries are pretty good. About what you’d expect to pay in a neighborhood grocer. The grill food is priced well, two of us usually eat for less than $ 20. This place has become a weekly ritual for my girlfriend and myself. I expect to be there weekly for a long time to come.

Best falafel this side of the Atlantic. I’ve literally only had falafel this good in Israel… This place is a total hole-in-the-wall sort of locale that you would easily miss if you went looking for it. Very casual, definitely not a «date night» sort of venue. But soooooo delicious. I had a falafel pita and a special soup(ginger couscous chicken soup) that was fabulous. I HAVE to find a recipe for this soup. There’s also a small market and indoor or outdoor seating. The cook/cashier/waiter/store manager in one was very nice as well. This is a great place to stop for a quick bite when you’re in the area!

Wonderful! The chef/cashier gave us free samples of everything on display and was friendly. The food is *excellent*! I got the lamb gyro and the falafel pita sandwich– I loved both. The flavors are so delicious that we bought some of their gyro pitas, tzatziki, grape leaves, stuffed grape leaves, and kalmata olives. Both the grocery and the grill are superb for the Mediterranean food lover. We will most definitely be back again!

Chicken kabob platter, excellent, hummus and salad great. Friendly owner and cook as well, the baklava was a serious let down sadly(overly sugary and perhaps old/not-fresh).

Cant believe I haven’t reviewed this place. I am huge fan of Mediterranean food and this place The best hummus and falafel. Period! I haven’t even been here yet myself. My husband frequents the place for lunch and always gets me dips, shawarma or falafels. I love there shawaramas too how can I forget? Somehow the seasonings are so similar to roasted chicken we get in India and i haven’t had a good one is US yet so this made me jump with joy the first time. Also the baklava is great to finish of a meal. I have had a couple of those too. Pure Joy! I have heard and has been told in lot of Unilocal reviews that the place is really small but looking at the quality of food they churn out it can easily compete with the bigger chains and restaurants. I can’t wait to drop by and see for myself soon and try some of the other offerings.

Don’t let the outside appearance fool you, this place has incredible food! Based on the other Unilocal reviews, my boyfriend and I made the trek out in the rain and it was absolutely worth it. He went with the lamb kebabs over rice that had a fantastic tahini sauce. The spice that lamb was cooked with added a rich surprise to an already amazing meal! My dish of choice was the beef gyro with a side of falafel. The pita and tzatziki were clutch, as well. The staff were also very hospitable and offered us a sample plate of their sides before we ordered. They chatted with us about the restaurant and checked in with us after we ate to see how things were. Overall, I’d certainly recommend this spot for some quality Mediterranean food and unique grocery items.

I saw all the great reviews here on Unilocal and my boyfriend and I decided to try this place, as it’s literally within walking distance of his house. I am SO glad we did! He had the chicken shawarma, which he loved, and sides of stuffed grape leaves and baba ghanouj, which came with pita and was so delicious. I had the beef gyro with stuffed grape leaves and falafel, and all three were absolutely out of this world. The spices in the falafel were rich and strong, and the tahini sauce that came with it was smooth and mild. The gyro… oh, it was so good. Tzatziki sauce dripping out of the whole thing, with fresh tomatoes, onions, and lettuce and perfectly seasoned, tender-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside beef… and for the price, it’s a huge portion, I realize now that if we had just gotten the sandwiches without sides we would have been just fine! And don’t even get me started on the baklava. Seriously, it was so dense we couldn’t even cut it with a fork, had to pick it up and take bites out– needless to say, it disappeared very quickly. We will definitely be repeat customers– if you are in the area, you cannot possibly go wrong with this off-the-beaten-path grill & grocery! And regarding the grocery area, the spices and other grocery items are so well-priced I may never buy them at a regular grocery store again!

Arguably the best falafel in the Triangle: crunchy, well seasoned, and hot out of the fryer. The owner is helpful and very kind. Also, I would highly recommend the Baba Ghanouj and hummus(and the chickpea salad if you are not vegan). Fun items to purchase as well. This is a gem in Parkwood!

You’ll never guess how I discovered Mediterranean Grill & Grocery(rhymes with welp!) Anyway, I’ve wanted to check this place out for a while. I stopped by after going to the gym since it is pretty close by. The place was not too busy, so I was able to get helped right away. I went with the lamb kabob platter(ordered it medium rare). I wasn’t sure which side items to choose, and you get to choose two. The guy helping me was kind enough to let me sample all of the following(baba ghannouj, hummus, cauliflour, tzatziki sauce). I liked all of them, but decided on the hummus and califlour. I placed the order to go since this isn’t really a dine in type of establishment, although they do have a few tables inside and out. I really enjoyed everything thoroughly. The lamb was tender. I would probably order medium next time, as opposed to medium-rare, but it was cooked as I asked. The basmati rice was also really good and flavorful. I normally don’t like califlour, but this one as sauteed and spiced really well. I’ve recently started appreciating hummus, and I really liked their version. A lady who was dining there, and apparently a regular, informed me they didn’t have as many side items as they normally would due to it being Ramadan. I would be interested in coming back to see what other options they add as well as giving their Gyros a try since I am a big fan of that type of sandwich. Mediterranean Grill isn’t much for the eyes, but what they lack in décor, ambience and size, they make up for in the quality and authenticity of their food.

Stopped by here after seeing the great Unilocal reviews, and it was totally worth it. The owner is very friendly and fixed a great lamb kofta pita with some delicious fries. They have 4 tables inside and several more outside, and it’s the perfect place to grab a quick lunch or snack on the go. Also, their prices are totally low given the amazing quality of the food. As other reviewers have mentioned, it’s also a Halal grocery store, so if that appeals to you, they have a solid inventory. It seems like a community hub with the mosque next door, and I hope they continue to stay in business for a long time!

This place has gotten a lot of hype and after a disappointing go with another restaurant with similarly rave reviews I was a little skeptical. But let me just say that this place is out of this world! Hands down the best Mediterranean food I’ve ever had, let alone in the Triangle. We ordered a plethora of items from chicken curry to a classic lamb gyro to what has been touted as «the best falaffel» in the country annnd everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The tzatziki and hummus and orzo salad — yum! The Baklava melted in my mouth — nothing like the sticky dense mess I was used to. And now I’m forever spoiled! They also had a deliciously flaky date cookie and yummy cream cheesey flaky pastry that were so tasty. The best was that this was truly a family establishment with legit, homemade flair. The owners and workers were incredibly warm — letting us try samples, hugging customers as they came in — you just don’t see that nowadays! Loved every bit of it!

I think from today, this place is our to go place for Mediterranean cuisine. The staff was extremely friendly, and the food was superb. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma with a side of Tabbouleh and Hummus. The Chicken Shawarma itself is huge and extremely flavorful. The Tabbouleh was fresh and delicious and the hummus was also excellent and had good consistency. It’s not too far from NC55 and NC54 intersection which is also a plus for those who don’t want to drive too far. Would definitely come back to this place in the future!

I’ve been keeping my eye on Mediterranean Grill & Grocery for quite some time now and was almost shot down on my recommendation for lunch there from Steve A. who, and I quote, «wasn’t in the mood for mediterranean food». Well, to make a long story short, he will never be saying that again when I suggest this place! It’s located in a very odd location directly in the Parkwood neighborhood. They only things surrounding it are a convenient store, fire department, bridge club(who would’ve thought) and a library. But honestly, location doesn’t matter for this establishment, because I’m headed there just for the food. You walk in, are greeted immediately, and order at the counter. Everything is made fresh as soon as you order it. We ordered the falafel pita, served with what I’d call raita(a yogurt, dill and cucumber sauce, usually eaten with Indian food to ‘cool it down’) and the lamb kafta pita. We also ordered a side of humus, a piece of baklava and a piece of warbot(baklava with a sweet cheese in the middle). There was nothing I didn’t like, I ate my food as fast as Steve A. – and he usually finished in double my time – so you know they’re doing it right. Both of our pita sandwiches were amazing in their own right and incredibly fresh. The lamb was so tender as well, definitely recommend lamb if it’s an option! The humus was served with pita and was also delicious(it looked like they buy their pita bread from Neomonde Bakery though, or they at least sell Neomonde’s pita bread, so I would assume they are also using it – correct me if I’m wrong!) Both of the desserts were delicious, although I was partial to the baklava. I loved that they had a lot of cinnamon in their recipe, something I’ve never seen in baklava before, but it was a knock out. I already made a list of the things I want to try when I return: tabbouleh, babaghannouj and the chicken shawarma pita. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Plus, they have a handful of kitchen items to stock up on too(spices, tahini, ghee, etc.) They can compete with the best of our local mediterranean restaurants and the prices are very reasonable(we spend less then $ 20 for our whole meal!) AND, on top of all that, they have great hours!

Quality Flavors from the Middle East! Small Dining area with 16 Seats inside and a few tables Outside! Exceptionally Friendly, Welcoming and Helpful Staff! With an Overall 5 star rating on Unilocal and 42 Reviews(3-21-2014) and a Note from our CM Lauryn C. I had to see for myself and take my eBay Bride! Kabobs: Lamb(cooked to Order) Medium Rare was Delicious Chicken(usually I do not want Chicken) this was Very well seasoned and very Tasty! Kafta was Very Good Sides: : Tabbouleh mmmm! We both thought this was probably our Favorite Tabbouleh yet! Eggplant Oh this was Sooo Good Tzatziki very mild and very good Hummus was also very mild Babaghannouj was Delicious, very Smokey(they may spell it differently) F___M ________was our Favorite Side and I have no idea what the name of it was, two words, the first started with F and the second with M Dessert: : : Baklava and a ?Coconut/Honey/Yogurt/Pistachio Bar… Both were Very Good! Location(Parkwood) Hidden in plain sight if you know where to look. In a mostly Residential Neighborhood, in a Small(we almost missed it twice) «strip» «mall» in the almost blind Corner, near a small Convenience Store and across the street from a small Methodist Church… Unilocal map is Korrekt! You CAN get there from here! Grocery Store Included!

Went for a run on Saturday and decided the perfect way to top it off was with an enormous plate of falafel, tabbouleh, cucumber salad, and baklava(to go) because, well, natch. My wife ordered a platter, lamb I believe, and we split an order of hummus to start. The hummus was fresh and creamy albeit not garlicy enough for my tastes, and came with a generous dash of paprika on top; the falafel was perfectly seasoned with a fantastic, crunchy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior; the tabbouleh(bulgur wheat-based as opposed to parsley-based) was solid; and the cucumber salad was excellent. The hands down highlight of the meal, though, was the baklava. I could easily go face down in a pan of the stuff. Think oversized dinner portions, even at lunch time. The prices are in line with the portion size with two entrees, some hummus, and two pieces of baklava coming in at 30 bucks. I’ll definitely be back and would love to see a lunch menu with smaller portions available.

Tucked into the Parkwood subdivision between the convenience store and the ballpark, you’ll find this little gem of a restaurant and grocery. It’s located right off Revere & Hwy. 54 or Sedwick off Hwy. 55, depending which way you come in. It’s somewhat small, with a handful of tables inside and out, but they make everything work quite well. First of all, how many subdivisions have their own restaurant?!! Just a little history for those who work in RTP. Parkwood just about borders Hwys. 54&55. It was built when the«park» was, back in 1960 and is a planned residential community for those who first came to work in RTP as there really was nothing else nearby in what was considered the outskirts of town back then. With over 3,000 residents, it still has it’s own public elementary school, ballpark, two pools, fire department, parks, trails, a lake, lots of wildlife, and a convenience store. It’s a very culturally diverse neighborhood that has several churches including, Methodist, Baptist, Bai Hai and Jamaat Ibad Ar-Rahman, an Islamic prayer center which includes Al-Huda Academy, a full time elementary Islamic School and now this wonderful restaurant! So, the menu here, while small offers some very good chioces. I had a beef and lamb gyro, which was huge and excellent! The meat while thick was very tender and the sauce was delicious. I also had a side of stuffed grape leaves, about eight, which was more than I could eat! My dining partner had the chicken kabobs that had a delicious seasoning on them and drizzled with an interesting and tasty sauce. It came served on a bed of delicate rice that tasted like it had sprinklings of nutmeg on it. She also got some hummus and pita and french fries. It was an enormous portion! It also has a small grocery section, which has canned, packaged, and dry goods as well as a dairy section, and frozen items, including meats. You’ll find fresh meat and salads by the pound for sale up front near where the food is prepared. If you want to step away from the chaotic lunch scene in RTP during the work week, check this place out! Plus great for lunch or dinner any day of the week too.
