Mathnasium instructors use our unique assessment process to determine (with great accuracy) exactly what each child knows and what they need to learn. Next, we design a customized learning plan for teaching the concepts the student needs to master. It does not stop there — our encouraging instructors continually check progress along the way to make sure kids truly understand and retain the concepts we have taught. The results are transformative — kids will see measurable changes in attitude, confidence, and school progress.

History

Established in 2015.

Mathnasium is an international chain of more than 600 learning centers where students attend after school to boost their math skills. Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, Mathnasium Learning Centers specialize in teaching kids math the way that makes sense to them. Mathnasium of North Durham opened its doors February, 2015 to offer global expertise to the local community.

Meet the Business Owner

Ioannis John M.

Business Owner

Ioannis (John) is Owner and Center Director of Mathnasium in North Durham. John completed high school in both the British and American school systems before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration — which led to a 25-​year career in corporate finance working in the U.S. and abroad, in Brazil and Thailand. John has experience teaching children of different ages in the fundamentals of mathematics, mentoring elementary school Odyssey of the Mind teams, and coaching elementary and middle school soccer teams. What John likes most about the Mathnasium method is it enables children to understand mathematics in a way which makes the most sense to them. He is excited to be a part of Mathnasium, bringing mathematics to life in the youth of the community.
