Lenox at Patterson Place

Next, parking has become an issue and there is rarely enough spots if you come in past 10pm. This week I parked under a tree near to one of the buildings. By morning my car was covered in ants, like hundreds and hundreds of them and some were inside my car. The maintenance man had to hose down my car several times, and this did not rid it of ants. That night my car had to be fumigated to kill the ants still inside of my car. I hate this place.

Location is good as far as shopping but that’s about it… Rude staff «MEMBER» It’s just one lady that give us nothing but attitude when we call the office or visit. Same lady had my car towed after we had just spoke to her and ask if it was ok to be there for a couple of day until my father picked it up. She literally saw my family pull out of the apartments and had our car towed after telling us it was fine. We lost family pics and information that we needed out of the car. You can’t sit on the balcony in the summer because of all the bugs and bee and walsp nest imbedded in the railing and walls. The bees and walsp are eating wood like termites making the balcony unsafe. The floor boards are sinking in making lots of noise causing conflict between neighbors which you will be blamed for. There no parking available after 7pm because they are moving ppl in with multiple cars and no assigned parking. The trash is constantly over flowing and on the ground. Have had a leaky faucet for the las year now they came and «so call» fixed it but it’s still leaking. I have never lived in a place like this… I will never live here again and I hate that I brought my family to another state to experience this. Don’t let the pictures on the site fool you this is not where you want to live. EVER…

BUGS BUGS BUGS!!! Place is a NIGHTMARE… Cockroaches and bed bugs everywhere. Amanda, the property manager is the human reincarnation of the D3V1L. She threatened to evict me when I paid rent after she misplaced the check. When I came into the office and she discovered her mistake, she didn’t even say sorry! Laura, the blonde assistant manager is extremely unfriendly and no help once you move in. Apartment is a mess and there was yellow water leaking out of the faucet for four days once with absolutely no hot water! Please do not even get locked into a lease here! You will thank me for it DO NOT MOVE IN!!!

I wanted to revisit my previous review. Since the beginning of the year we have gotten a new staff because the property was bought out.
The ladies that I have dealt with in the office are very nice from what I can tell. It seems like they are making improvements. The lights in the breezeways all work and they power washed the parking lot and buildings (yay!).
Also the way rent is paid has changed a little bit, we have a new company for utilities and you are supposed to pay the leasing office directly. Which is OK because you can pay your rent online and you can add in the amounts for the utilities as well.
I haven’t had any lost packages (I had a few last year but now they have a sign in/​out sheet so things don’t slip through the cracks, love it.).
Overall, its really okay but I wish I had a decent balcony. :(My neighbors are nice and its not really too loud here. Only a few undergrads, looks like mostly young families to me and no bothers each other.
Its hard to get garages, they are fairly cheap though (100bucks i think?). Its also hard to get three bedrooms but they seem to have plenty of studios. This may have changed in the last few months though with the beginning of the year and all.
I DO like the area still. Traffic in this area is nowhere near as bad as other places in the country and there is lots of shopping around. I’m a big fan of being near the interstate as well. There is also a bus stop nearby and grocery within walking distance.
This place is well suited for, grad students, singles, small families who live/​work in the Chapel Hill/​Durham area.

DO NOT MOVE IN TO THIS SHADY PLACE. I got a prom rate when I signed the contract before I moved in last August, and then I got a phone call saying that the sales representative gave me a prom rate that was not allowed, and they would have to raise the rent. I had to fight with them over this for many days as I signed it on the dotted line so as the property manager. After I moved in over a month, it was finally resolved. This is the first strike. The second strike is that I found out my utility bill was EXTREMELY high. I am just talking about the water bill, sewage fees and trash fees cuz it goes over $ 100 each month. Let me give you a breakdown of the bill I receive. Trash charge: 19.88, Pest control charge: 8.99, stormwater (what the heck is this): 9.99, sanitation fee 12.99, recycle admin fee: 3.99, service fee/​water base charge: 5.86. These are the fixed fees you have to pay each month which comes out $ 61.7 even before you use any water or sewage!!! The third strike is that the move-​out notice is 60 days here instead of 30 days and the office would not provide any notification to you. So you need to remember that you need to go in office 2 months prior your move-​out date, otherwise you would be charged for $ 200 + any additional days from the date + 60days you notified them. I was late for 2 days and I ended up paying $ 200 late fee+2 days of market per rate for that price. The maintenance here is not that great. My bathroom leaks water from the third floor and they came once but did nothing. So think twice before you move cuz the management just tries to get your money by any means!!! Oh one more thing about utility bill, you would have to pay even before your move-​in date if you move in mid of their billing cycle. I ended up paying $ 60 something last August last year before I moved in on August 15^th. Isn’t that ridiculous???

I lived here in a studio apartment for two years. During that time, the management changed over to Equity and other changes ensued. Mostly positive ones — the parking lot got re-​paved and painted, new equipment was added to the gym, and a stronger effort was made to organize community socials. The staff was very friendly and the few times I had to call maintenance, they were always helpful and timely. One of the best things about this apartment is the location — smack dab on the border of Durham and Chapel Hill, just a mile away from the I40 exits, and walking distance to the Patterson Place shopping center.
The apartments themselves are fairly new, and thus pretty well kept, and the landscaping is some of the best I’ve seen around here. There are sidewalks running throughout, so you can take the dog for a pleasant walk — they even have waste disposals set up for that. The pool is left open year-​round (not heated, but kept filled for the visual appeal). There’s a bus-​stop out front, but I’m not sure which line or how often it comes by. The residents are mostly graduate students at UNC and Duke, with a few young couples and families. Rent was a little high for the small space I had, but given the very non-​ghetto atmosphere, I think it was definitely worth it.
