I used to live within walking distance of this Kroger and man do I miss it! They finally updated their produce section and it is great now! I usually shop the health food section and they have a pretty good selection of items. I love their prices and the Kroger rewards system, especially now that they’ve installed gas pumps. Those Kroger points really add up. The store is always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is my primary grocery shopping spot, mainly due to a combination of location and price. There’s also a Harris Teeter nearby with a much better deli and meat department, but the Kroger prices tend to be considerably lower on average so I come here for staples and everyday stuff. They don’t have a salad bar, which is a bummer, and the meat department is perfunctory at best, but other than that I find it well-stocked and well-priced(except for the beer, which, oddly, is very high compared to the competition). The store brands are generally good quality and they have a 6-register self check-out, so it tends to be easy to get in and out. If you register for their loyalty program, you get coupons targeted to your normal purchases(including coupons for freebies), so that can be a good value. They also have the Free Friday coupon download where you can get a featured item for free(though they are sometimes sold out). The store is clean and easy to navigate and they just added gas pumps in the parking lot so you can take care of one more errand with this one stop.

Fairly standard grocery store with your typical items. They have a good proportion of expensive brands and cheaper off name brand items. My biggest complaint is their produce department. Their produce wasn’t fresh. Check your fruit carefully for mold– especially the grapes!

I’ve changed my mind. If this isn’t the worst Kroger in the entire chain, they should just close. Period.

I wish they had a better produce department. It’s big, but it doesn’t look fresh, items are frequently sparse, and is not well maintained. I’d have given them another star if it was. They do have lots of great Kroger brand products that are comparable to name brands at good prices in nearly every department. The friendliness of the employees at the check out can be hit or miss at times. Seems they’d rather converse with one another or watch who’s going in and out of the store than be attentive to the customer.

I really like shopping here. The staff is always very nice and the produce looks great. They have a great selection of international foods and snacks. The thing that I was REALLY impressed with is the private selection ice cream. Its Kroger’s premium brand and I am hooked. Its so yummy and creamy. It never gets freezerburned which is a super plus.

Wow I am impressed and kind of sad that it took me 2 years to visit this place! I have been spending way too much at Harris Teeter and Whole Foods. I checked at Krogers tonight on my way home and wow… seriously the produce was fresh and really cheap. I think my bill was 1⁄3 of what it typically is at Harris Teeter and that is with buying more ‘expensive’ goods like milk, meat, and specialty cheeses. Also kind of impressed that they had my favorite Russian snacks instock! Not even Harris Teeter carries ‘em. I am really impressed at the prices and the staff… the lady at the register was fantastic! I have a new go to grocery store!

This Kroger isn’t the worst in the area, but isn’t the best. The produce can be pretty hit or miss — most of their organic produce is pretty good. Like other Krogers, they have a separate health food section. I hate that! I wish the health food was mixed with everything else in the store. I haven’t usually had a problem, but I recently bought a 6 pack there of beer that was bad… and they wouldn’t take it back. They said it’s the law that they can’t take it back(other grocery stores in the area have told me I can return wine if I don’t like it)… but it just bothered me. I would have taken an apology! Just a reminder to be careful what you buy… not just at Kroger. PS the cashiers are like the nicest ever!

I stopped going to this Kroger over a year ago because the produce always looked old. I’d go there intending to do all my grocery shopping and would end up having to make a second trip to Harris Teeter or Whole Foods for veggies and fruits. I was in the area of this Kroger tonight and needed some lettuce for tonight’s dinner. Almost all the lettuce was old and brown. Yuck! I ended up buying none. Tonight’s trip reminded me why I don’t shop here anymore and why Harris Teeter gets most of my grocery money. The produce manager needs some serious training on the freshness of his inventory. And I can’t believe the store manager doesn’t have a problem with this section of the store. As to other sections of the store, I really have no complaints. But they won’t get my business in those other sections because I don’t want to go to 2 grocery stores every week to get what I need.

I like the Kroger stores, but I prefer this Durham location slightly more than the one at NC54 for my typical grocery shopping, the main draw being that the produce section at this store is usually stocked, less bruised, and neatly arranged. This location seems to be a slightly smaller store having less variety of foreign or specialty food items, but it does well to provide what I need for simple cooking items and staff are always friendly and helpful. For example, one time I left behind a bag of tortilla chips(~$ 1) after paying for a bunch of groceries, and the cashier ran out to hand them to me after I’d gotten in the car. Talk about customer service! You can always find some really good sales at Kroger, including their amazing 10 items for $ 10(e.g. English muffins, tortilla chips, dairy products, baked goods, etc). Manager’s Specials are another way to find cheap discounted items. Plus, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream seems to be permanently on sale! I definitely keep returning for my weekly groceries here.

Red box outside, clean and well stocked inside. This is a very nice Kroger. It has everything you need from a grocery store and it is very close to my hotel. What else is there to ask for? All in all I recommend this place to anybody looking to pick up good food to prep for dinner, a movie, or what ever else your daily life requires.
