Description

Specialties

Prepare to be transported to a spirited counter-culture environment reminiscent of a 1960’s coffeehouse with the passion of a Latin beat… offering what we call Revolution Fusion Cuisine. Enjoy freshly made, authentic Cuban and Spanish inspired entrees, our exclusive original tapas, and Award-Winning sandwiches. All in an atmosphere filled with Original Artwork, era-specific music and video that will take you back to a time when challenging the norm was the norm. When JFK was a president, not an airport. When the Rat Pack, Bardot and Marilyn were center stage and the promise of Revolutionary Cuba filled the air.

History

Established in 2009.

This is the Durham version of the original Cuban Revolution Restaurant & Bar which opened in Providence, Rhode Island in 2000. We did the unthinkable and mixed great food and drink in a setting ripe for political discourse. We quickly became a local hotspot, opening our second location in Rhode Island in 2007.

We are proud to be part of the Award-Winning American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC just across from the Durham Performing Arts Center and the Durham Bulls Baseball Park.

Look for our new location in Baltimore, MD which opened near Johns Hopkins Hospital in March of 2013.

Meet the Business Owner

Ed M.

Business Owner

Political adviser to Congressmen, Senators, Governors and even Presidents until 2001, Ed entered the restaurant business with his wife Mary in 2000 with a small 35-seat diner located in Providence, Rhode Island. They both shared their passion for politics, history and great food with Rhode Islanders until 2009, when they were invited to open a location in Durham, North Carolina. They fell in love with the area and relocated their family and their business to the beautiful American Tobacco Historic District. You can often find them in the restaurant (Ed himself cooks for a special chef’s menu on many nights… a real treat!), while Mary is happy to meet and greet customers in the dining room to share information on the restaurant, the menu choices and other special offerings unique to Cuban Revolution.
