Courtyard Durham Research Triangle Park

Wonderful staff. Our flight came in pretty early and they were able to accommodate us and let us check in to an alternate room at 10:30AM instead of the typical 4PM. When in town for a long weekend for a wedding, this made a huge difference!
Unfortunately their shuttle does not go to the airport, but everything else is top notch. Café inside has beer and coffee (opens at 5pm).

Will never stay here again!!?
Go elsewhere. I’m a Marriott Platinum and stay in Courtyards all over the country every week. This one is the 2^nd worse I’ve been in. The worst Marriott ever is also in NC — maybe same franchisee :-/​Front desk curt, silverware filthy, A/​C rattles, shower old and the towels are like sandpaper. Van driver hostile. By 5:30pm my room was not cleaned! What else can they do poorly!!! This hotel should not be part of the Marriott brand. It’s an embarrassment.
I told my client and they removed it from their recommended hotels. They even encouraged me to move to the Doubletree which is much much nicer.

Exercise /​fitness center is kind of a joke. 1 EFX, 2 treadmills, 1 bike, 1 bench and a few dumbell’s. It’s very small about the size of one of the rooms

This hotel has recently had the bath tubs resurfaced, the rooms have a very strong chemical smell, the attendant apologized and got us reservations to another Marriott. I wish they had put a notice on their website about the fact they resurfaced their tubs and the place smells like chemicals. I’m actually sick from the smell.

This Courtyard was as good as it gets for the category of moderate priced business travel hotel. Service was fantastic. The interior’s new renovation is beautiful and hip. The prices in The Market were high, but that is too be expected. Luckily a Food Lion is less than a half mile down the street. The lobby and lounge space is more than expected for this category of hotel. I was even pleasantly surprised with my suite. I may stay here on all my future trips.

Clean rooms, decent beds, pain to get to, and no wireless. Who doesn’t have wireless?

I’m rather disappointed with this hotel. Yes, it is acceptable, but I expect better from a competitive hotel chain. The room is clean, but the amenities are lacking. The TV is a 19″ CRT. The cable selection is appropriate for 1990, not 2010. The bath looks like something from a hospital and the rounded shower curtain rod droops. It has been rehung because the holes of the previous mounting are still there.
The walls are painted stucco like they used to do 20 years ago. The vanity still has the beer bottle opener and a tissue dispenser hole.
I’m always looking for hotels that have a decent workout room. I need to use the elliptical because I can’t run right now. It is the cheapest piece of equipment I have seen in a hotel. The handles are missing parts of the grip and the control pad has holes in it from years of use. It is not usable. There are two treadmills, a stationary bike, hand weights and a bench. This equipment looks OK. Didn’t try them.
I believe that hotel chains never ask people who work out to check out the exercise equipment before they buy it. I can tell when a hotel has a lousy exercise room by the picture on their website. This hotel has a picture of a woman on a treadmill. It doesn’t even show the whole machine! I can’t see the room at all. They are not proud of their facility but they can include ‘exercise room’ in their amenities.
The lobby is standard Courtyard. I like that well enough. There is a spa, but it is visible from the path to the elevator as it is enclosed in glass. It would be weird to sit in there in your swimsuit knowing that people are walking by all the time. I doubt it gets much use.

I’ve stayed here just once on a multiday stay. The hotel was ‘alright’ and that’s about it. It was a bit outdated, though they were about to begin a renovation project the following week I was there so that should be a null issue.
This location only has an outdoor pool so if you want to swim outside of prime summer months, bring a wetsuit…
Like most mid-​ranged hotels such as this they serve a breakfast buffet –which can be included in the price depending on the tier you purchased the room at. This is a basic buffet and nothing more –eggs; sausage; bacon; oatmeal; cereal; muffins; bagels and fruit.
The beds weren’t the most confortable I’ve ever slept in; however, they were not the worst, either.
The location is pretty convenient being as its right in RTP and directly off the freeway. There are a couple of restaurants within a small distance but because of its busy location, driving might be better than walking. The next exit up and down from there has a ton of restaurants and even a Wal-​Mart around the corner if that’s your thing :)
This is decent place to stay for a one night but if you’re looking for something with a bit more luxury, I’d avoid it.

I have stayed here a few times and really like the front desk staff. This property regularly takes bottom of the barrel priceline bids (e.g., $ 38).
The 1-​star is from the amazingly rude treatment I received on my latest stay. I had a DND sign on my door, and had asked for a 10AM wake-​up call. A manager called at 9AM (read – well before my 10AM wake-​up call, which was well before checkout time) to ask me when I was planning to check out – that they were thinking of having a repair man making a ton of racket and would delay it if I was going to be around. Why would you not think to check if someone has a wake-​up call set under these circumstances?! A complete moron could infer that I wouldn’t be checking out before 11AM. I spared him the excited utterances that immediately came to mind and just said «11AM» /​click/​.
I should add that I sent a written complaint to Marriott, and received a very sincere and apologetic reply from the AGM who had woken me up. He completely took ownership of the situation and acknowledged the mistake. He offered to try to arrange a discount on my next stay. I’m revising my rating to a 3, but beforehand had put down 1 – you be the judge as to how you want to take my score.

A nice, quiet place in a convenient location (at least for me), right near the highway and near my client. My room was clean and appropriately stocked. The (free) Internet service worked as advertised.
There’s just not much to say about this property — it was everything I was expecting for a Courtyard and there was nothing wrong with it at all.
Would I stay here again? Yes.
