Camp Bow Wow Durham

I took my puppy there for the first time this week and it was an awful experience. She is been in day care before and loved it at her previous location and alway came home tired. She left here scared. I watched her all day on the live camera and she was in a small area with 13 other dogs. That was to many dogs in one area. On her daily report they stated she had fun playing with the other dog and the counselor. While I watched her at work she was scared in the corner all day and the counselor had nothing to do with her. They walked around the area give no attention to the dogs. Wasn’t happy and won’t be going back.

Friendly staff that makes you feel like your dog is as special to them as they are to you! I love how the lady at the front in the mornings knew almost every dog that came through the door by name. Comforting to see, especially being a new customer! LOVE the webcams. This sets camp bow wow apart from all the other places that offer similar services. Cleanliness as well has exceeded my expectations. Also the fact that they volunteer to feed dogs a snack, lunch, or treat when they are put up in their «cabins» in the middle of the day for no extra charge was a nice perk!

I started taking my rescued dog Ginger to Camp Bow Wow in RTP a few months ago and she just loves it! Since she’s a pretty rambunctious 1year old I knew she needed more exercise and socialization around different people and dogs. When we get a few blocks away she knows where we are going and starts «singing» excitedly. She is so anxious to see her camp buddies that she nearly drags me into the building! And when I pick her up after work she’s exhausted from playing all day and crashes in the backseat for the trip home and snoozes all night. I love the webcams and I check in on her periodically throughout the day to see what she’s up to. Plus they are practically next door to my work so it’s super convenient! I just wish I could afford to take her more than once a week as their day care prices are a little high.

We dropped our dogs off with exactly the amount of food they would need while they were there. When we picked them up, they still had half the amount of food we sent them with. Since we’ve been home, one dog has been vomiting and the other has had diarrhea. When I talked with the manager, Chip George, he tells me that based on paperwork they have, the one that has diarrhea ate all her food, and the other one only ate some of his evening meals. He told me that it could just be nerves from being in a strange (though familiar) place and that because their staff wrote on paper that they fed that dogs, that the only possible reason they did had so much food left over is because of my error. This is not acceptable to me and I will never take them there again. I would recommend finding someone you trust stay at your home and care for your dogs.

I’ve been a Camp Bow Wow customer for over 7 years now. My dog averages three daycare visits per week, and when I’m traveling we board her there.
There have been a few little hiccups with Camp Bow Wow over the years (as there will be with any business that one has a long standing relationship with), but the people there have always been quick to deal with any issues that have come up. I’ve gotten to know most of the people that work there, and they all seem to really enjoy what they do. It would be easy to fill a place like this with disaffected teenagers that wouldn’t really care about the dogs, but that has not been my experience.
The real truth is revealed by my dog, who happily trots in with her tail up and a big smile on her furry face. If they were doing something wrong, I’m pretty sure that she would display her malcontent without compunction.
If Her Royal Furredness is happy, I’m happy.

Something isn’t right about this place. I took my dog in for the pre-​boarding interview and when I picked him up he seemed happy and fine. When we got home, I picked my dog up like I always do (he’s only 13 pounds and loves to be carried) and he winced and Unilocaled like he was in pain! I almost dropped him because he wiggled and scratched me so hard! He’s never acted like that before and he’s definitely never dug his nails into me or anyone else. I became immediately concerned that something was wrong. It was late so I just let him take it easy for the rest of the night.
The next morning (this morning), I went to pick up up and same thing, minus the clawing, he was wincing and I could feel him shaking a little. When I took him out to use the bathroom, his bowels were unusually dark. This may be TMI but his poop is usually yellow… not almost black! I became concerned that he may have some internal bleeding or something!
I know something happened to him at Camp Bow Wow. I don’t know if another dog got a hold of him or if the staff hurt him (kicked him, hit him, beat him?). Of course, I called the facility and they denied any abuse or anything going wrong!
I’m taking him to his vet today for an exam. If anything happened to my dog. Camp Bow Wow better watch out!

Love this place and the staff are wonderful. Theresa and Chip are amazing at the front desk. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Christy and Melissa are also SO great. We recently started puppy classes with our newest addition and have enrolled all 3 of the pups in Doggy Day Camp! All of the counselors are really friendly and really care about the pups and love to play with them!
Training class is small and we get lots of attention from Melissa!
Camp area is great and dogs are separated by size but each size group has an inside AND outside play area — no rotating! Lots of supervised free play time and a nap time in the middle of the day for lunch and play area cleaning/​sanitation. Best of all you can check in anytime you want on the camps webcams.
