Bullseye Bicycle

Went in with my two little boys and Rob took care of two things on each of their bikes (new kick stand & new pedals), then bought a few accessories for my own bike. Rob had us in and out, in less than 20 minutes. Tyler & Rob continue to perform top notch customer service and great advice, and this is going on over a dozen stops into their business. Never going to another bike shop, ever.

These guys know bikes! They are great people that will do all they can to help you out with your bike. I will always and only use this shop for my bike needs

These guys are awesome! A year ago I bought an expensive wheel for my bike from Bullseye. Recently the rim blew out and was damaged beyond repair. I took it back and they got me a new replacement wheel at no charge. Awesome to see they Stand behind the products in their store! Thanks so much guys!

Highly recommended! I’ve been to this shop a few times — the first time just looking for a bike — they went out of their way to help me even though the sale was going to be a small one, returning calls and answering lots of questions. My next visit was after I bought a bike — but not even from their store. I chose to buy a PUBLIC bike. They helped me put it together. They did the work very quickly — just a few hours and were very friendly! I’ll probably never take my bike anywhere else.

for the more experienced home mechanics out there in the Durham area it’s a good bet that if you’re into a project like a wheel build Tyler and Rob are the ones you wanna talk to. They were nice and patient enough with me despite the learning curve with my wheel build and had the best price in town for double butted spokes and decent spoke nipples in the sizes i needed, as well as some sagely advice on tensioning and common sizing issues.

Came in here to quickly pick up a bike tool. Guy working was super quick and attentive – friendly with none of the haughty vibe you sometimes get at other bike shops (ahem, looking in your direction, 9^th street cycles). Got the thing I needed, was in and out in under 10 mins. Felt good about purchasing here.
Fully recommend this shop, would definitely go back for other stuff.

I have always had a great experience when I go to Bullseye. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They fixed up my well loved old bike and work within my budget for any necessary repairs. I just bought a bike for a gift and was given all the information I needed to make an informed decision based on the needs of the recipient and my budget. I went by to ask some questions about my new (to me) bike and to buy head and tail lights, and the guys were incredibly nice and attentive. They helped me pick out the best kind and installed them for me on the spot. They didn’t try to up-​sell me at all (just explained the differences and let me decide for myself). I’ll definitely go back the next time I need something.

We just moved to Durham, and needed some work on an old bike, and to purchase an inexpensive used bike. Bullseye hooked us up with everything we needed for very fair prices. Super nice guys! We will be back!

I know nothing about bikes, but fortunately Tyler and the guys here clearly do. Better yet, they talked me through their thinking about my options for fixing up my old (80s) road bike and explained everything. I learned a lot in my 20 minute visit. Tons of patience and an easygoing willingness to chat that makes you feel like you’re hanging out doing something more fun than getting a bike fixed. Will most definitely be returning there in the future.

I brought an old bike in pretty bad shape into this shop and they took one look at it and knew exactly what kind of bike it was, how good the quality of the bike was, and then exactly what it needed to get tuned up. Then. they proceeded to give the bike the full tuneup it needed, and were nice, personable, and fixed the bike expertly. I loved my experience there and I love riding my (new) old bike!

If these guys hadn’t opened up shortly after I’d taken up cycling I’m not sure I’d have taken it up successfully. About 15 years ago I tried, got the wrong bike to start with and it was put together wrong. After the chain popped off for the 100^th time, I chucked it in the shed and forgot about it. I bought a new bike from Bicycle Chain well before these guys opened. It probably was a good bike to start on but I quickly needed a very different bike as my trips got longer and my rides got more frequent. All along the way Rob and Tyler and the other fellow have been honest, given me options and explained what I needed and didn’t need. As my experience grew and my needs changed they were there to help me think it through. As it turned out my bike in the shed is about what I needed now and after the great work they did on my beginner bike, I had them rebuild it and WOW, what a great job, so fast, so competent. They are patient with us noobs and yet they can explain what I’m headed for as I go further. Look you can buy a bike anywhere or online. You can also get your bike fixed lots of places (to various degrees of competence) but you really need a «home» shop where people are trying to help you out and are willing to talk you through things in order to be successful. This is that shop if you’re in Durham.

Man, I started writing my own review, then noticed that Patrick C.‘s, below, said exactly the same things! Big fan of Tip Top Cycles (check), bike commute to work every day, rain or shine (check), dropped off my bike for a full tuneup and got it back very quickly and in fantastic shape (check), none of the «your commuter bike isn’t worth our time» attitude some shops exude (check), it immediately became my new regular shop (check), I heartily recommend to anyone (check).
Just like Tip Top, the goal is to help the customer make the best decisions for themselves rather than extract the most money from them. Great people, extremely knowledgeable and willing to explain what they’re doing, top notch in every way that counts to me.

Great bike shop for regular people and serious cyclists alike. No pretentious biker types here, just super friendly guys that do service with a smile and will help you get the best bike for what you need, not just what they think they can make the most money from. They stand behind their service too and will gladly address something if it needs a bit more tweaking after you’ve left the shop. These guys love bikes and live in the neighborhood and it feels that way when you visit. They also rent bikes if you’re looking to take ride around town or hit the tobacco trail so hit them up if you’re a visitor looking for the best way to see the area.

These people are a godsend to downtown Durham, and to bike aficionados. They understand bikes, and they can help you find what you need — even if what you need is something really unusual. They are also great people, and a joy to do business with.

Bullseye is the 5^th bike shop I visited this week looking for a bike — and I think their pricing is the best value in town. Today I bought a hybrid bike and several attachments, like a wrack for the back, a lock, a highbeam light, and tire repair kit. All together it cost me $ 799 including putting it all together.
The staff are friendly, personable and knowledgeable. They did a good job of pointing out pros and cons of attachments I was considering, made sure I understood how it worked and went together and sent me off a happy customer.
Took the bike out for a 30 mile ride about an hour after buying it. Rides great — and I’m really glad I opted for the hybrid (as opposed to a road bike) because the trails I rode on were not all paved.
If you are in the market for a bike, put this shop on your list to check out.

I completely agree with Amy C. The guys at Bullseye are SO nice and informative! My husband is an avid biker and we go into a lot of shops, all with varying «specialties» and awesomeness.
I appreciate that they come at you with an open perspective. They will teach the novice (me) everything they (I) need to know, but can play with the big-​dogs (my hubby) and talk for a really long time about a whole bunch of stuff that only sounds like sexual innuendoes to me…“hammer gel, rim tape, and tenacious oil”…c’mon, who comes up with stuff?!
