Typical movie theatre. I love the seats. The location is convent to the mall. This theatre always shows the latest films. They have great popcorn and it’s always clean. This is a super clean theater. One of my favorites

Very very average movie theater, it’s just what’d you expect and nothing more. It’s pros are that it’s clean, screens are large, has IMAX, and large selection of movies. They had the 70 mm showing of the Hateful Eight for instance, and no other theater here did. The prices have continued to rise throughout the years, clocking in a $ 8 at the cheapest, they do offer student, military, and senior discount with ID.
As with most theaters concessions are outrageously priced. They do have those cool Coke drink dispensers though!
I will say, because their seats are just your typical upholstered seats, I get pretty restless and uncomfortable during long movies here, like 2 hour ones. I would spring for a theater with some reclining leather seats if you’re gonna be Ina movie for a while.
The main reason I come here? My job gives me discounts and it’s super close to my apartment. There are much better theaters in the Triangle area.

The theater was so loud it ruined the movie for me. Constant talking, yelling etc. I realize this isn’t the theater’s fault but something should be done about it.

We (my wife and I) were about 10 minutes early but could not find a parking spot, because there were none available due to poor capacity planning /​design for the mall. After parking in the sears auto center, making a hike across the road, and then the entire parking lot we made it to our movie before it started. It was in ‘IMAX 3D’, so we pretty excited to be a part of this experience as it was bound to awesome (at least for the price that we paid per ticket). We had to get our pre-​purchased tickets printed off at their little kiosk thing, gave our tkt to the attendant, grabbed our 3D glasses, and made a b-​line straight to the theater. We walked in during previews and every last seat was full except the first 2 rows (every movie goers worst nightmare). We sat in row 2, and could barely see anything! The picture was so blurry, the 3D glasses did not even cover your entire peripheral, (so there are open gaps at the sides of your eyes). Frankly these two rows should not even exist in a IMAX 3D surrounding unless you are just trying to hear the movie and not watch it. We were devastated by this as we feel like we paid a good deal of $ to listen to a blurry movie. This experience has left us with little to no desire to ever return to this particular theater again. Compared to the AMCs up north, the one is pretty outdated, may want to consider a complete theater renovation /​updates, and seating redesign for their IMAX 3D experience.

Recently moved down south — our amc up north had huge recliner chairs (which I miss) this theater is outdated BUT the service and pricing are excellent. We’ll definitely be coming here frequently. Went to a 10:20a showing and only paid $ 10 for two adults, what more could you ask for?! Thanks amc!

You lose one star because you took away the water fountains. Don’t think I’m gonna give y’all a quarter for a «courtesy cup». Bathroom sink faucet or nothing.

Least enjoyable movie experience of any modern theater I have ever had. When the movie is scheduled to start, they show advertisements that last 30 minutes (I checked the time when the commercials finally ended and it was over 20 minutes past the movies start time). They even repeat commercials. It took 30 minutes of ads and 15 minutes of trailers for the movie to begin… It was literally 45 minutes from the time on the ticket until the movie started.
When leaving the movie after it has finished, staff will not let customers use the restrooms, and instead force them to exit the theater (they will block you off and refuse to let you go to the restroom). Patrons have to leave through the back door immediately. It seems this theater does not trust patrons.
The only pro for this theater is that it has stadium style seats. They are average. Neither outstanding or bad.
I would recommend watching at a different theater. Although it is conveniently next to the mall, you can drive 15 minutes away and watch a movie quicker because there are less annoying ads that they make you sit through.

Been here multiple times, and every occasion has been a great one. This theater is probably the largest one in the Triangle, and maybe even the nicest. It always shows all the movies I want to see, 3D and IMAX included. Staff typically moves efficiently to get through ticketing and popcorn assistance. Free movie posters are usually available for grabs at the front. Seats are generally clean and comfy. And when you finish watching a movie, you can grab something to eat nearby or walk around the shops. Sometimes, there’s also live music playing right outside.

Overpriced theatre. Nice big screens, however, nothing special here. Squeaky chairs — arm rests are warn down. Stadium seating is nice. I never buy concessions, so I can’t speak to that.

The sound was not synced to the movie. The curtains were not pulled back all the way and blocked the sides of the movie. The back speakers were defective and you could barely hear the dialogue. Several seats in the theater squeaked loudly and interrupted the movie with metallic screeches.
AND the ticketing office let in a couple with 3 month old baby into seeing Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.

This may be the worst theater I’ve been to. My theater was #16 and many of the seats were in such terrible condition that the sound of anyone moving in their seats made horrible, loud, metal-​on-​metal scraping noises. Throughout the movie there was a chorus of squealing and scraping from the seats, including my neighbor’s. It was very distracting (and embarrassing for those unlucky enough to be in a dilapidated seat). Does corporate AMC know about the horrible condition this theater is in? All those seats need is a little cheap, quick, maintenance. I was utterly shocked, I’d never seen (heard) that before at any other theater. The bulbs were not very bright, the popcorn was ice cold. Otherwise, things were fine.

Once upon a time, before air-​conditioning was commonplace in homes, the octogenarians tell me that they would spend hot summer afternoons at the cinema. They’d enjoy a magic show, newsreels, cartoons, and a feature film while taking refuge in the cool, dark theatre.
Not so today at AMC Southpoint. Apparently oblivious to their need to offer something enticing to the public to pry them away from their smart TVs and the likes of Netflix and Hulu, AMC Theater managers set their thermostats so that their theaters are a balmy 76 degrees at the top tier of seats.
It’s 91 degrees in Durham this afternoon, «Feels like 100,» my iPhone accurately observes. Next time a film I want to see is released in theatres, I’ll just add it to my Netflix queue and wait to enjoy it at home, where it’s always comfortable, and drinks don’t cost $ 6.00.

This movie theater was ok. I didn’t sense that it was an old theater, but in a time when we’re spoiled with reclining chairs and better screens and sound systems, this theater seems plain. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds like they offer 3D movies too, so I think this place is average.
I can appreciate that seeing a regular movie here is $ 10/​person. I thought it’d be more expensive, but maybe that’s Atlanta prices.
I brought a jacket with me in case I get cold because I usually get cold in movie theaters. I appreciate that the theater was at least clean. I don’t know about the restrooms though.

Pretty much the only thing good about this theater is the location. It was $ 10 for a ticket this afternoon for a regular movie (no 3D or Imax). The re were so many people around that it felt like we were packed into a sardine can. I didn’t get a drink or any food because it was crazy expensive. We went to see Jurassic World (amazing movie by the way) and we ended up having to sit in the seats directly in front of the screen. Yay neck cramps. Some idiot brought their baby to the movie so there was the issue of a crying child. Not the theater’s fault I suppose, but it would be nice if there were a no infants policy or something.
The bathrooms were clean so that was a plus but one of the paper towel dispensers was totally empty.

Honestly, I hardly ever go out to see a movie these days much less pay for the movies I did see out – this is thanks to getting free screening offers from Unilocal and other sources. Once Marbles Theater in Raleigh changed their «PowerPass» deal I quickly fell out of the movie going loop. I was pretty surprised when I saw a matinée screening on Sunday and realized that movie tickets are over $ 8.00 (for an afternoon screening!) Guess it’s cheaper then a fancy cocktail so maybe $ 8.00 is the going price for 2+ hours of entertainment these days.
The AMC at Southpoint isn’t a bad movie theater, it’s just a movie theater. Average seats, average concessions, average staff; it’s really everything you would expect when you are going to see a movie (and I’m sure the typical movie goer these days knows how much they’ll be paying for a ticket!) The only thing that is not average are the new fancy mouthwash dispensaries in the bathrooms – no, I’m NOT kidding. I guess it’s for all those high school chicklings going on movie dates and wanting to have fresh breath, or maybe AMC is thinking that people need a refresher after stuffing their face with popcorn for two hours. Either way, it’s a fancy touch in an average theater, and for that I might just return.

I like this theater, it’s a little dated judging from the state of the floor and seats, but the theater gets the job done for an enjoyable movie going experience.
There’s a variety of foods at the concessions stand, from the typical: popcorn, Coke products, and (overpriced) candy, to actual hot food like chicken sliders/​tenders and fries, so hey, one can grab a good (taste wise, totally not nutritionally) alternative to dinner before a movie.
The seats, again, are a little old and squeaky but they’re comfy and recline. Like some other Unilocalers mentioned, the seats can be a touch too close, so fingers crossed people obey that unwritten rule of leaving a seat free in between groups. Also, I went to see a children’s film and there was the odd smell of fart permeating in the air.
Nevertheless, staff are prompt and polite and the overall facilities were clean, so I’m a totally satisfied customer.

If it were possible to give this movie theater zero stars then I would do it. It’s probably not their fault– maybe they just attract the kind of trash clientele that leads me to these reviews bc they are at the mall–
but it’s a Tuesday night and I seriously just watched some nasty drunken skank crawl from the second row into the first row of theater 1, pull her pants down, and do what I can only assume was urinate. The movie was good and that little show was… Inspiring. It inspired me to never ever come back here as long as I live.

I love the location of this theater, and it’s also one of the cleanest theaters I’ve been to. The only complaint I have is that the seats move easily. This allows you to lean back and get comfortable during a movie, but any slight movements from the people seated a row behind you can make your seat move.
I have sat through a movie here once where the person behind me kept accidentally kicking my seat. Additionally, sometimes the space between rows can get pretty tight when the person in front is leaning back in their chair and there is someone sitting in the seat behind them. I know that I, myself, have accidentally kicked the chair of someone a row in front of me when leaving due to how squishy it can get.
Maybe it’s karma, but I’d like to think it’s just a matter of tight spaces and easily moveable chairs.

The movie theatre is in a great location, at the mall. It is also never too full and each time I’ve gone it’s been clean and well kept.
Most recently unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience with the concession stand. I am 9 months pregnant and simply wanted a cup of iced water while watching a movie with my husband. My husband waited in line and asked for a large iced water for his pregnant wife, only to be told they could not give him a regular sized cup of water without charging him for the cup itself (per inventory tracking). They only gave him a tiny Dixie paper cup of water, so my husband ended up paying $ 4.75 for a water bottle.
Considering I’m pregnant on a hot 90 degree summer day, AMC should be more understanding of pregnant customers such as myself. It’s disappointing that even for water no exception can be made.

Nicest movie theater in the Chapel Hill/​Durham area in terms of facilities. Also the biggest.
