We are a team of specialized real estate brokers and highly skilled administrative personnel specializing in real estate in the Durango, Bayfield and La Plata County marketplace. As difficult as many real estate transactions are today, you’ll find comfort knowing that we have a combined real estate experience level of over 50 years. In that period of time, we have established numerous relationships with top-quality bankers, inspectors, various repair contractors, title companies and others that will be important in your real estate transaction. Top expert negotiation, top level Internet marketing, professional photography, unsurpassed market knowledge, our own Team’s transactions/closing coordinator and our own on-staff webmaster are just some of the benefits that Team Lorenz can provide.
History
Established in 1975.
Rick Lorenz started in real estate in the middle 70’s at Triple S Realty, which at that time was the oldest real estate company in the County. He was able to mentor and learn from two of the owners and eventually purchased the company. Unlike big-city real estate where people specialize in just one type of real estate, you really have to do everything in Durango; single family homes, condominiums, vacant land, small ranches, commercial and even mining claims are all transactions that I have had to become proficient in in order to offer sound real estate services. With well over 1000 successful transactions completed, there are not a lot of surprises out there. In the mid-90s some health issues arose affecting my physical mobility. At that time I created the Team approach by adding buyer specialists and additional administrative staff. By the mid-2000’s we had grown to seven team members.
Meet the Business Owner
Rick L.
Business Owner
Experience really does matter when it comes to buying and selling Durango real estate. And Rick has over 35 years of it. A Michigan State University graduate from the hotel and restaurant school, Rick co-owned a small restaurant chain while still in college. On a winter trip to Durango to go skiing at a friend’s condominium (after never having been west of Chicago), he became totally smitten with the mountains. He returned to East Lansing and told his partner «You’re buying me out, I have fallen in love with the mountains.» Several months later, the move took place. The 1st year and 7 months were spent being the restaurant manager at the historic Strater Hotel. Rick left the hotel, went into real estate and the rest is history.
Over the years, Rick has sold everything from million-dollar homes to patented mining claims in Silverton; from a tiny condo to 5000 ft.² estates; and commercial properties from a small printing firm all the way to a 33 year lease for a major grocery chain
