History
Established in 2010.
Fondly known as Mr. Ofi (Hebrew for «personality») by customers at his previous café, native Israeli Doni Tamli and wife Ann opened their first restaurant after lamenting that there was nowhere to get a good falafel in town. When they heard in 2000 that the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) needed a food vendor, they jumped at the chance to start Café Ofi, featuring Doni’s now-famous falafel and hummus recipes as well as other international dishes. After nine years at the MJCCA, they decided to venture out to a location more visible and accessible to the general public with a focus on the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food Doni grew up with. Café Sababa was the result.
In addition to the awesome food, Café Sababa’s interior décor features a stone and glass-tiled arch and warm colors indicative of the herbs and spices used in Doni’s recipes, giving this restaurant an exotic, yet modern and friendly atmosphere. All in all, it ‘s a Sababa experience!
