Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak is a canoe, kayak, and sup outfitter like no other. We are located at the confluence of the Rainbow River and the Withlacoochee River, two of the most beautiful rivers in Florida.

On the Rainbow River, you can float the crystal clear stream as up to 500 million gallons of pure spring water each day flow from the many springs that form this aquarium-​like river.

On the Withlacoochee, you will enjoy nine miles of the old wild Florida. This trip meanders right through the Withlacoochee State Forest.

From our livery at the END of the Rainbow River, you have the opportunity to park and ride our shuttle to the paddling destination of your choice on either the crystal clear spring water of the Rainbow River or the deep water and dense forests of the Withlacoochee River. On either trip, you will drift peacefully back to your car.

History

Established in 2001.

Nathan and I (Deidre) Whitt had a canoe livery in southern Ohio for ten years. It was too seasonal to be a year round operation. Nathan, having grown up part time in Florida, always had a love for the springs. When he came upon the Rainbow River while touring with his band, he knew it was time to pick up and move. We found the perfect location at the end of the Rainbow. We have TWO rivers that flow to us. AMAZING. Our customers have the option to float the pristine waters of the 8^th largest spring in the world, the Rainbow River or to travel old Florida in the deep, dark waters of the forest float, the Withlacoochee River. Either trip, you go with the flow right back to your car. Simple, relaxing, and beautiful.

Business Owner

Nathan has a BS Degree from The Ohio State University ~ Watershed Policy and Planning. He has 0ver 20 years experience as a business owner. He has owned a canoe and kayak livery since 2003. He is also the MAYOR of Dunnellon.

Deidre’ has a BS Degree in English from the University of Rio Grande and a Masters in Education. She is now a full time partner with the business.
