I really don’t like coffee, and we haven’t had many cold mornings to get something from a café. So my g/f and I took advantage on the first(and last) day that required a light jacket. So not being a coffee person I got the hot chocolate, it was okay, it tasted good, it blows the abomination that Starbucks calls hot chocolate out of the water. It is also really cool how they are in a refurbished train car which is really cool. You can sit outside and people watch on the Pinellas Trail.

I love the idea of this place, and the owners are super nice and great people. But, I do feel it is overpriced, and that’s a shame. We got 2 breakfast sandwiches(tomato avocado on ciabatta and a cheese, bacon, egg on an English muffin), an Americano coffee and an espresso, and grabbed a small macaroon. It was slightly over $ 25. I do love the location, the people and the dog-friendly aspect of it, but I can’t justify the price.

Unique little coffee shop located in the heart of downtown Dunedin in an old boxcar. I wish though that the menu was as unique. But alas, they had the typical concoctions that you’d find at most coffee shops. Nothing really to set it apart from other cafes. So I ordered a raspberry iced coffee which I enjoyed outside while walking around Main Street. Additionally, I feel like the café isn’t using the interior of the box car quite as well as they could. There’s limited bar seating and the gift shop takes up a large part of the interior. I wish it was cozier and more comfortable. But I give it 4 stars because the box car(which is part of Dunedin’s railroad history) adds to the awesomeness/quaintness of Dunedin. And the service was good and my coffee hit the spot.

New owners! We came here when they had old owners. It was a disappointment. New owners are a delight. The food is delicious and gourmet. We got the mozzarella panini with pesto. Very fresh ingredients and all homemade. The kale salad was delicious from their express café section. My picky toddler loved the panini. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for great food and friendly service.

Now the Express Café, I come every morning(not open Mondays) for a latte and usually a scone. Virginia(French and very soft spoken) makes excellent quiches, pies, crepes, and pastries in the European tradition. Her salads and other creations are excellent as well. Collin(Scottish) is an excellent cook and baker as well. I love his scones, not like the Americanized versions you find at Panera’s or grocery chains. But most of all he makes an excellent cup of latte. You will not find a friendlier, more charming couple in town to greet you in the morning.

Charming new owners have recently taken over this café. The wife is a fabulous cook. Her Quiche Lorraine is the best I have ever had! Their homemade pastries look delicious and they also offer healthy options such as quinoa salad, as well as their coffee drinks.

Cute café with friendly service. Espresso, iced coffee and cappuccino were all perfectly made and the macaroons were delicious.

A cute little find in downtown Dunedin. Perfect place to grab a coffee and go for a stroll. The barista, Max was very welcoming and friendly.

I have to wonder whether the other reviews are written by customers. This is a tiny little hole-in-the-wall converted train car. It is an okay place to get a cup of coffee or tea and walk around downtown, but it is a far cry from a coffee house with comfortable seats, newspapers to read, and groups of people sitting and talking.

Great coffees and some nice treats. Slammed on a Saturday morning — they should have more than one person in there to help. I felt awful there was one girl in there(but she was hustling!!) and some rude customers behind me complaining about the wait — regardless the coffees I ordered came out perfect. Just have a little help in there on the weekends.

One of my favorite things to do when on vacation is find a great local coffee shop. I was so excited to find Orange Crate. It was so cute AND had almond milk. I had the grasshopper which was fantastic. I will definitely be coming here every time I’m in town.

I’ve been Facebook stalking the Orange Crate Café ever since Tina announced they’d be taking over this old boxcar. So when I finally got the chance to visit Main Street in Dunedin(for the first time in a long time) I made visiting them a priority. I love the look of this place. Sure, it’s kind of small, but let’s not forget that it used to be part of a train. That being said, I found the atmosphere to be very inviting and comfortable. Locals would pop in and out, and the girls behind the counter greeted everyone like friends. While browsing through the case I saw something cute and made of chocolate(easy requirements for sweets in my book). The girls said it’s called Chocolate Decadence and that inside of it was a semi solid chocolate mousse. I was sold. I paired that with a Grasshopper Latte and had a seat, ready to get sugared up. The Chocolate Decadence was certainly decadent, but most certainly was not mousse-like at all. It was too easily melted to pick up, and the core was too sticky and solid to slice through without an effort. But it tasted great! It was chocolate, after all. Pretty hard to go wrong on that. The Grasshopper Latte was better for me. I love any pairing of mint & chocolate in my drinks, and this latte really hit the mark. None of the flavors undermined the others, and it was just rich enough to make me not want to gulp it down. I actually carried it around Dunedin with me for the remainder of my walk so I could savor it. They’re just as pricey as another coffee chain we all know and love, so I’m not sure how often I’ll come around, but I will be back.

This old boxcar has been turned into little café. The Orange Crate Café is small on the inside but has plenty of seating outside on the Pinellas trail. This is a great spot to grab a cup of coffee and people watch. The menu is limited as they just open two days ago, but there is plans to expand. The Thai Peanut Chicken wrap was tasty but should have come with sauce on the side as it was a little dry. Everything is fresh and healthy, most things are organic and locally grown. There is some vegan and vegetarian options but those will be expanded in the future. I look forward to trying all the offerings and being able to get Bree’s honey whenever they are open.
