Located on Main St. in downtown Dunedin, Bellini’s offers city walkers a wonderful taste of fine Italian cuisine at a reasonable price. I enjoyed dinner several weeks ago here with my parents and grandmother, whom all agreed, Bellini’s menu and food quality shattered previously visited Italian themed restaurants. Two dinning rooms, one in front, with a street view, and the second, located adjacent to the kitchen, offers more privacy. The service was commendable, and the one man, one guitar live bossanova band aided dim candle lights to illuminate this moody bistro. Prices may have you double checking your order, however, I would certainly bring a date here and pay for two.

I think this is a very good restaurant. Saturday night, recently, and the place was packed. It looks a little cliché with the faux Italian courtyard wall paintings, but make no mistake, the food is outstanding. I had the veal saltamboca and the veal was exquisite. A little potato came under the three nice-sized veal slices. A nice glass of Chianti made the meal awesome. The meal also came with a great classic rat-pack singer. Dressed in all black with a nice hat, he really belted them out. Go here.

I like eating at this place. It is not to often that I go out to a restaurant and have a «Perfect Check» i.e. pre dinner drinks, appetizers, salads, main course, bottle of wine, dessert and post diner drinks. Needless to say we kept ordering because the food was so good. My only complaint is that the food was way over sauced. We ordered the Lamb and the Fillet, both would have been perfect if it wasn’t for the over use of demi and cream. It really was not necessary to over dress the food. I will go back but I will remember to ask that the sauces be placed on the side. This is something I normally don’t do. Even the salad was great but too much dressing. Anyway some of the good things included the attentive service staff, the cleanliness, wine list, and outdoor seating. Also we ordered the fried calamari which was very great. The management here was also very nice to us as we had a gift certificate with was for $ 25. Unfortunately we did not read the small print that stated gift certificates can not be redeemed on Friday and Saturday nights. But the manager came out and told us he would allow us to use it. My guess is that he saw the total on our check was over $ 200. Please note that this was mostly because of the wine. One thing I found interesting is that one can bring their dog to dinner here or even just stop in for a glass of wine and sit at one of the few outside tables with your pup. I like this place and will go back.

I had dinner at Bellini(formerly Olivia’s), a very nice Italian restaurant located along Main Street in Delightful Dunedin amongst several cute little shops, galleries, boutiques, eateries, and professional offices. The restaurant is divided into the bar/lounge area with seating, TV and live entertainment in front and the main dining room in the back. When weather permits, there is also patio seating along the sidewalk. I asked to be seated in the main dining room to take in the experience. The dimly lit atmosphere in the dining room is magnificent with the walls painted as murals of an old style Italian village with the arches, vines, a fountain, and classic lighting and upbeat background music playing over the speakers. ITFEELSLIKEYOU’VEBEENINSTANTLYTRANSPORTEDTOITALY! Each table is covered with linen, place settings and candlelight, setting the perfect atmosphere for a nice romantic dinner for two or a good family style dinner. Onto the food! The menu offers Italian specialties including appetizers, soups, salads, homemade fresh pasta dishes, beef, chicken, veal, lamb, seafood, desserts, and more. The fresh fish here is purchased from the Dunedin Fish Market on the Marina. The dinner entrée prices here are moderate to spendy ranging from $ 15(fettuccine alfredo) to $ 35(filet mignon). All dinner entrees come with a mixed green salad or Caesar salad. Beer, cocktails, and full wine list available. If you get here between 5PM and 6:15PM on Mon-Thurs, it’s 15 percent off all food(early birds). Check out the menu and restaurant details at After I was seated in the main dining room, my waiter came out promptly to fill my water glass and brought out some hot & crusty bread with olive oil, spice, & garlic dipping sauce, which was good. Throughout my meal, another staff member assisted my waiter by bringing out the different courses out to my table and offering fresh ground pepper & parmesan cheese sprinkled on the food. For starters, I ordered a bowl of Pasta Fagioli($ 6), was good and hearty, but was more like an Italian pasta bean soup in a thick chicken broth, not in a hearty tomato broth with meat that I would get from Italian restaurants in NY. For dinner, I wanted to be a bit adventurous and ordered the Pappardelle Martina($ 21) with a mixed green salad included. The mixed green salad was a plate of mixed field greens and vine ripened tomatoes with bottles of balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil to pour on the salad. The Pappardelle Martina(homemade egg noodle with sauteed shrimp in a coconut saffron sauce with arugula and fresh strawberries) was interesting, light tasting(need a bit more seasoning), and pretty good. The fresh pasta was the best part of the dish and I cleaned my bowl! I was pretty stuffed and skipped dessert since I already had ice cream(see Review 601) before stopping here for dinner. The dessert menu($ 5-$ 7) sounded very good which offers Tiramisu, Profiteroles, NY Cheesecake, Cassata, Suffle al Cioccolato, Piramide, Cubo, Gelato, and Lemon Sorbet, but no Cannolis? Overall, I had a great meal with attentive service with several refills on house water, and fresh ground pepper & parmesan cheese offered on the food. The food did take awhile to come out because all of the food here is prepared fresh to order for the best taste, a good thing to know. I would highly recommend Bellini for a nice Italian dinner with excellent fresh homemade pasta and wine. Bring your credit card because you’ll probably need it!
