Duck Pond Cellars

Love this winery! The outside seating alone made me never want to leave! We came for the 4^th and they had live music and it was absolutely perfect. Flight price was extremely reasonable and the bottle price was as well. Everyone that worked here was friendly and fun. I cant wait to come back!

Such a nice place with an amazing staff! Stumbled upon this place while driving to my cousin’s graduation. Will definitely make another visit when I’m back in Oregon.

Duck Pond gets 5 stars, it’s really 4 stars but it’s ok to bump it up relative to what’s around here.
* wines are affordable!
* complimentary 4 or 5 tastes (unheard of for Oregon wine tasting)
* flights are only $ 5 and waived with a purchase (also, quite low for Oregon)
* many selections between their 2 brands
* never had a problem with their service. however, it was never that super busy when i was there
* sell several nice, gifts and food items.

Drinking real time the gorgeous Mingle white blend, which is dominated by Chard, but offset by Riesling and a few other varietals.
It’s sweet and comforting on a warm day as today. Deserving of all of its awards too. You’d be lucky too, if you managed to score some!

this was our last stop after visiting several wineries, and it was easily our favorite. the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, we enjoyed their gift shop as well as their wine. the pinot noir is top-​notch!

I went here with some friends yesterday. It was the first stop luckily, for the other wineries went up from there. It was crowded and took awhile between each of the pours and I only liked one of the wines out of them all… so they were just «so-​so» to me… so much better wines out there I feel and not so crowded!

We stopped by here Thursday Sept. 4^th. with the hounds in tow, since their outdoor seating is dog friendly.
As usual, the service was quick, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the wines were inexpensive and very tasty The grounds around the outdoor seating area are nicely landscaped (in the early summer the wisteria among the arbors are gorgeous).
It’s a nice winery to pop in and have a glass of wine on the patio, or try a flight and see what you like. They have a great selection, your bound to find a varietal you like!

I have to give a shout out to Tamara C. After talking to her we decided to give DP a chance. Not that their wines are bad, but I have had them before and I can buy them at any grocery store, however the experience was really fun.
Indeed they have a complimentary tasting and if you want to do the reserved ones it is only an additional $ 5 to include those. The employees are super friendly, which makes any visit so much more enjoyable. The cute store was full of wine gadgets, of course I had to get one. I got a quail pourer. A little steep at $ 24, but we have quails hanging in our back yard all the time. They also have some jams, mustards and chocolate dips. The patio in front is very nice, and they seem to have events every so often. We were a day late for some pizza/​flatbread event. On a sunny day, hanging out here could be fun and cheap. I ended up buying a bottle, just because they were so nice. I am sure I could have gotten it at Safeway at the same or cheaper, but the experience was fun.

Great service! The price point of their wines are very affordable. Nice property but no view like some of the others around.

Our company provides wine tours and Duck Pond always delivers! The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is comfortable. The abundance of flowers in the courtyard are beautiful. I enjoy their wine and have started collecting their oils and spices. Great place to taste wine or just enjoy a glass!

I have toured all the wineries in this area and out of them, none compared to Duck Pond. From customer service, to education, to price — they do not disappoint. We went to several other wineries, and they were good, but still did not compare to our overall experience here. This is a must stop for true wine lovers.

This is a great winery! I started at this winery and tried their second flight. The hostess was very welcoming an kind. Great atmosphere and affordable wine. One of my favorite wines from this place is the Malbec. It’s not sweet, earthy, velvety and you can really taste the French and American oak. This was mellow flavored and a great red if you are more of a white wine drinker like I am. Duck pond also had other delicious flavorful wines. The service was also great! I will be coming back to this winery!

My friend and I recently went to a pick up party for the wine club and stayed for the $ 50 a plate sit-​down dinner. Duck Pond should not have attempted to do both events in one day as it was a complete bust.
The food at the pick up party was marginal, some sliced salami, two different cheeses with flies feasting on them, an empty bowl of bread and a small bowl of olives. There were only two people pouring wine so the line for the red wine was a block long, and no line for the white but the woman serving white would not help out, weird. No one was smiling! I never did get wine at the pick up party.
When dinner rolled around, we were served plain lettuce as a salad, not even a tomato, (this is tomato season), Pork loin which was delicious but the meat was served 20 min before the vegetables came, who does that? I filled up on meat because it appeared that was going to be it. The vegi’s were beautiful but arrived far too late to enjoy with the main course… So, we paid $ 50 for pork loin, lettuce and two glasses of wine… I think that would run about $ 34 at a 5 star restaurant with excellent service, I might add.
The staff was grouchy and gave horrible service by the time dinner rolled around. They were serving our meal from cardboard boxes and half the guests were sitting in the direct sun with no shade so they carried their own dinners across the lawn to the deck in the shade.
The worst part… they did’t serve wine with dinner. I’ve never been to a winery dinner that didn’t pair wine with the meal… We were given tokens for two glasses of wine which were served well before dinner was served, no wine glasses at the dinner table and if we wanted wine we had to walk back to the winery and buy a bottle then drink out of a dirty glass. So tacky…
I belong to two other wine clubs in the area and I have to admit I was quite disappointed with Duck Pond, (although I do really enjoy a couple of their wines, the Syrah in particular).
I’ll continue with the club as I do like their wine and the price is right but no more dinners and I know now what to expect when I pick up my wine so I won’t be disappointed next time.

Yay, they are running a special right now on Unilocal.I will have to look into that. This is one of the few wineries in Willamette valley that doesn’t feel snobbish or stuck up. Many wineries in the area now are charging $ 15 – 20 for a simple wine tasting. This place is people sensible with a few free tastings and regular tastings for only $ 5. They have a cute gift shop. They also have Picnic plates to order and take outside where you can site near their ponds and small vineyard out front. The patio has beautiful seating too. Some summer weekends they have oven roasted pizzas to order and/​or free live music. I went a few years ago and heard Key of Dreams play there. That was a memorable time. I will be back. They also have desert wind winery in Washington as a sister winery to visit if you are planning a road trip. The wine is good, and the Duck Pond winery itself is very charming.

I like Duck Pond. I liked it a whole lot more before I really got into wine. It is a great winery for beginners or those trying out their first weekend of wine tasting.
The wine is affordable, sold widely in grocery stores and tastes better than other brands in it’s price range.
Most recently I came in with my husband and another couple lured in by the Unilocal discount and the fact it is only 2 miles away from our house. It was Superbowl Sunday and not very busy. We bought some Chardonnay, the Mingle and a few other bottles. We were rung up incorrectly (my husband had to point it out) and it took far to long to correct, at least 15 minutes. The staff was friendly during our tasting, and apologetic that we were overcharged.
Overall the experience and wine is right in line with 3 stars, just ok.

Duck Pond cellars is such a cute winery! I’m not sure why there are even negative reviews!
We stopped by this winery cause we wanted to compare Oregon wines to Napa! This was the only winery we can find in the area that offered complimentary tastings and the wine was actually not bad! The staff here were super friendly and very helpful. The pours are also very generous!
We ended up only spending around $ 10 for two tastings and a bottle of wine! Not bad at all! On top of the complimentary tasting my BF and I opted to try the red wine flight. We bought a bottle and showed them our Unilocal Check In discount and we ended up getting around 20% off — on top of that they comped our tasting! Unbelievable!
The grounds are also gorgeous! I would bring a picnic basket here on a nice day! :)

Maybe the better wines we had a couple of days prior spoiled me, but these ones tasted like metal. Mom and I were heading down to Dundee for day two of utilizing our wine passports and I quickly pulled off of the road when we saw Duck Pond as some of the other tasting rooms mentioned Duck Pond was one of the bigger wineries.
The outside set-​up is very pretty with lovely landscaping and outside tables in the front. The tasting room, as others have mentioned, needs an update. Lots of knick-​knacks. The tastings are the right price (free) unless you go for a more premium flight at $ 5…which oddly have most of the same wines as the free flight. I would just go for the free flight (and I did).
Wines are very decently priced at $ 12 – 20, but there’s a reason. They’re just not that good. I wasn’t compelled to buy anything (they did have a Washington viognier for purchase, not to taste, but given the other tastes, it wasn’t something I wished to go blindly into). The sales folk weren’t terribly engaged either.
Unless you’re a fan of free (or cheap wine), I’d say pass.

I had to give this place another shot, since I can’t believe I had one of the only good experiences here. I had another fun time today at Duck Pond, thanks to our tasting host Christy and a great tasting flight! The building is pretty unique, compared to the other places in the area; it almost looks southern-​plantation-​esque, but I’m definitely not a southerner, so don’t quote me on that.
While I didn’t love each of the tastings, I did like the variety they offered. Their wines don’t blow my mind, but they’re good for the price. I prefer the whites, and I really enjoyed the Duck Pond Mingle — I had to take a bottle of it home with me. My other favorite was the Gewürztraminer.
I had to pick up another one of those chocolate truffles by John Kelley Chocolates. Unlike other reviewers, I really enjoyed their selection of oils, rubs, and cooking goodies, and don’t think their offering such cheapens the place. Many of their products are made with Duck Pond wines.
I really don’t understand where all the negativity comes from! I’ve visited most of the other vineyards in the area, and Duck Pond is on my list when I’m out for a day of tastings. Oh — and I come out this way quite often on the weekends, and I’ve never experienced bad traffic. Just sayin’. :)

I will start by saying that I am not a huge fan of Duck Pond wines myself however, their service impressed the heck out of me. I took a tour of this vineyard with a group and had a blast. The server was very sweet, knowledgeable and spoiled us. I learned a great deal about wine and the process of making wine I was grateful for and still am! We were also given very tasty cheeses, breads and fruits to go with our wines. Our tour ended with a lovely Port and some chocolate in the courtyard. It was a very nice experience.
At the end I will say I was grateful I did not have to deal with their tasting room due to the people. It seemed very crowded with the younger crowd who were just loud and rude and from what I understand, that is common. It just seemed a bit chaotic and made me understand why a lot of vineyards have gone to appointments only.

This is a nice little winery that seemed to be popular with the younger crowd. The wines are friendly, entry-​level and affordable. You can score a nice Chardonnay for $ 10.00.
I think this would be a good winery for those who have never done a wine tasting before as they offer complimentary wine tastings. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they had to offer and our glasses were never empty.
There is also a very cute little gift shop with an array of wine related art, food items, and of course wine for purchase.
Outside you will find a lovely picnic area with a couple of tables surrounded by lush hanging baskets of vibrant flowers. Although this lovely little winery has a happy, welcoming vibe, I am not in a huge hurry to go back. It really is not unique enough to draw me back any time soon. There are too many other places yet to discover.
I do recommend it Duck Pond as a stop for first-​time wine tasters.
