Here’s what happened to me: In June 2005, I received really bad news from my doctor. My triglycerides were in the RED ZONE — «High Risk» for stroke. The ambulance sirens went off in my head! 508 was the count to be exact. 508 became my magic number. In life, sometimes there are little keys given to you that unlock big doors. 508 was a little key for me that opened a big door exposing a problem that I had neglected for 15 years. Once you hit «500» you are «high risk» for heart disease. LDLs were high and the HDLs were real low. Ratios were terrible. This was not the time to start going pharmaceutical.
