Prime Sirloin Buffet

Went for dinner on Italian night (wednesday). I really think they try their best to be the absolute worst dining experience ever. There is no way they can put food out that bad without trying to do it. This was the first time in my life that I have left a buffet hungry. Salad veggies were brown, hot veggies were straight out of the can and looked like they had been there since lunch. They had lasagna and chicken parm that I wouldn’t have been able to identify if they hadn’t labelled them. Bottom line, filthy, disgusting, absolutely horrible place. Someone needs to call a health inspector. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

It used to be good, but quality has gone way down! Not as dirty and bad as Golden Corral in Monroeville… However, it can be a lot better. Food at the buffet is usually cold and the steak is always too fatty. The deserts are pretty good though. But is should be cheaper than it is. It’s not worth the price.

Sunday is the best day here. Food is incredible on Sundays! Be warned though, food during the week is awful and leftovers from the weekend are turned into things like «Turkey stew» n bbq ham”. It’s nasty. If you want the best buffet food, DEFINITELY go Sunday and you won’t be disappointed.

I ate here once I doubt it if I come back. The middle of the day they served no meat of any kind. Lots of hot vegetables laying in a lot of juice. Most of the food was too salty for me. The service was the only good thing there. Disappointed is an understatement.
I am glad that I ate here before I made the mistake of bringing my family. I would eat out of a vending machine before I wasted my money here again.

Prime Sirloin use to be a nice place to eat, but it has gone to shit… They Need to have a tune up of the freshness of their food, and they need to make it at least look appetizing when it’s out on the Buffet… Don’t go if you want to pay a pretty penny and get shit for dinner.

$ 8 (+ tip) for lunch on a weekday? Sounds good to me. Especially if you have kids and/​or a large group. But this is not the place to go if you have dietary restrictions, e.g. gluten-​free, vegetarian, low-​sodium, diabetic, low-​calorie. The grilled whitefish was surprisingly good for a buffet. The soft-​serve ice cream was delicious! Our waitress, Kim, was super friendly and attentive. Good value for the price.

Worst food ever. Get sick when eating there. The food sits out all day. Too cheap for healthy food. I will never go back. Run run. If you don’t want to be sick!

Excellent food for the price! I was there for Saturday lunch … on weekends they have the dinner buffet over the noon hour. The steaks were very good … much much better than the chain steak buffet places that we all know about … they had a good selection of «medium» done steaks. I also had the ribs … they were very tender and easily pulled off of the bone … the BBQ sauce was very tasty too! The fried chicken was perfect!
For dessert, I some of their sticky buns … excellent! And I also had a little bit of vanilla ice cream … they have peanut butter topping that you can put on … and you can never go wrong with peanut butter!
I don’t make it to the Altoona area very often, but the next time I do, I will definitely go to the Prime Sirloin Buffet again!

When you’re alone in the evening and you don’t feel like going out, so instead you curl up on the couch and turn on the Sci-​Fi or Chiller channel, to be greeted by Child’s Play 9, or Leprechauns 4: In the Hood, or Piranha 3D? You know they’re awful, certainly not good for you, and not even that entertaining, but there’s some appeal.
Prime Sirloin is that, but for food. This is the absolute worst American food you will find anywhere on the continent. And the food — there is certainly a lot of it! It all tastes the same. Imagine biting into your Porterhouse (strictly hypothetically, I’m a vegetarian!) and discovering textured vegetable protein where you had anticipated organic, grass-​fed beef. And it’s covered in high fructose corn syrup.
And of course, the classy clientele — one would be remiss not to mention them. Here you will find large central Pennsylvanian families who think the Olive Garden is high class cuisine and can only afford to eat there two nights a year. The rest of the time they eat here.

Well, I have to agree with the comments of others who stated that Prime Sirloin used to be a better place to eat when it first opened. First thing is the price. $ 8 for an adult lunch isn’t a bad price for what you get. The food is hot, but not all of the buffet items were fresh. The fried chicken seemed a bit old. The country green beans were awesome as well as the mac and cheese. Overall, it is a decent place to eat. The staff was friendly and they gave a military discount.

Havent been here in awhile and with all the radio ads being played right now in altoona… I gave it another shot. Went on thursday… BBQ day (didnt know that till I got there)… Wasnt too impressed with the overall experience… Beans were good, garlic wings yummy (i grabbed the ones cooked to good and crispy) mac and cheese was good. That is about all i would go back for on the buffet. Paid a total of about 63.00 bucks for 4 adults and 1child and then the tip. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet here much better on the weekend. Its advertised as made fresh (not heat and serve) but i didnt think too many items tasted «like mom makes». If im gonna spend around 70 dollars or so ill go to another place next time

They had relatively decent food for several years after opening but the food quality and preparation begin to deteriorate and I finally stopped going. If you intend to eat the steak they put out you had better carry a tenderizer with you. Since not going there for several years we decide to take another chance. Several of the dishes I tried were quite good but the Thursday special, BBQ ribs were horrible. My wife tried the macaroni salad and it was spoiled. She reported it to the waitress who in turn reported it to the manager. The manger tasted it and then held a conference with several workers. They finally removed the insert and replaced it. No one returned to our table to say any thing about the incident. Another time when my wife was served spoiled food at a Altoona restaurant they apologized and did not charge for the meal. Apparently Prime Rib Buffet needs some training in food preparation and customer relations. Needless to say, I won’t be returning any time soon.

Yuck. Not that any buffet restaurant is that spectacular, but this one is the worst of the worst. The only positive thing I can say, being a saurkraut fan, is that they usually have saurkraut on their buffet (granted it is sometimes so dried out that even I don’t care for it). The waitresses are usually friendly enough, but they really can’t make up for the patrons that this restaurant attracts. Let’s just say they’re not Hollidaysburg’s classiest residents.

That’s not entirely true when you have a tired and hungry kid that just finished hours of running around at the Slinky Action Zone next door. In those rare moments, you want to be able to walk into a restaurant, and put a plate of steam-​table mac-​n-​cheese in front of the kid, stat.
Still, that does not explain the damage I do to myself when confronted with large buffets. But for some reason at Prime, I found myself feeling oddly more full and bloated than I should have been given the quantity of food I consumed.
And then later that night, I had nightmares.
But you get what you pay for. Inexpensive meat really kind of freaks me out. So I avoided much of the beef. Except the chicken fried steak with country gravy. Who can say no to chicken fried steak?
