Saw a dinner menu and didn’t find anything I wanted to eat… not many selections and all cater to American. Very disappointed. Ended up having Chirashi but wasn’t good.

The food was amazing. The service was really good. Would definitely recommend it. We ordered the Hard Rock roll, rainbow roll, and a few others. Everything was really good.

I love this place. You can find me here at least 3 times a week for lunch. I order the bento with sashimi and tempura or the chefs special. It is always delicious and I can honestly say, out of the 150 times I’ve eaten here, I’ve never been disappointed. Both the cook and sushi chef are top notch.

I think I am in love: heart eyes:. The fact that I live so close to this place is dangerous! I wanted a healthyish light dinner before hitting the gym with some protein and carbs so Ricky and I checked this place out. We got the sashimi appetizer and omg! The quality and portion from grandpa sushi chef were delicious, fresh, and generous! We are talking like an inch thick slice! I was kind of sad I got 3 rolls(should have just gotten hamachi and sashimi) but hamachi was not in my macros left and I was scared to only to eat sashimi before hitting the gym… But there sashimi is sooooo gooooddddd! I cant wait to go back this weekend when we have time. But due to needing to get some carbs in be4 the gym we got 3 rolls to «split between us» aka, ricky ate most of it. We got a shrimp tempura/eel/cream cheese roll, the fatty tuna one, and salmon skin(ricky weakness besides fish cheeks). They were all delicious! totally felt like a white person ordering these type of rolls but whatever! it was delicious! Rolled perfect, fast, fresh, etc. Great preworkout food. The customer service also is great! I felt very welcomed, a family feel, and nice and quiet with easy parking. Overall, I couldnt be happier… now you Unilocalers dont go bombarding this place because I was nice enough to share this experience and not keeping it a secret to myself!

Really torn about how to rate this place. My first experience was really great. I came in for dinner and got one of the chefs pick sashmi platters and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t too crazy about any of their rolls. My second experience today was for lunch, and I ordered the sashmi plate for $ 13. Maybe I should have expected less because of the price, but the fish was not as fresh as my first visit. Both pieces of my tuna were flavorless and still partially frozen. I probably won’t be coming back. I’d rather make the drive to rosewell, pay a few more bucks, and go to circle sushi.

This is a small hiddden sushi joint for those from the northern metro Atlanta. The sushi is far superior than the average raw fish stop. A small Japanese sushi master stands behind the sushi bar, this place is his pride and joy. The fish truly melts your palate. I recommended the scallop sashimi, the mackerel, the salmon, and everything else on the menu. The only negative point is the wait for your food, as there is just one sushi chef.

Just okay for me. Server didn’t know what was on the menu. That was interesting. Food was tasty but veggie rice was a small portion for 8.00. I at least want the rice to cover the bottom of the bowl. I got raped on that one. Sushi was good. My daughter and I left hungry. 35.00 bucks later and we had to stop by Taco Mac to split a single order of wings.

Really great sushi! The server and sushi chef were awesome and very sweet! The rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll and bagel roll were delicious! We also got the octopus appetizer with vinaigrette that was good. Miso and hot sake were treat as well! Thanks!

Got introduced to this place by a fellow foodie, and since i pass by it almost everyday, decided to give it a try. Small restaurant, i think a 2 or 3 person operation. Hasn’t been super packed the last two times I’ve been, so I’m definitely not complaining. I like small restaurants. We went in an wanted some quick sushi, so me and the wife ordered some Spicy Tuna Rolls, another specialty roll and our classic Volcano roll. Everything was delicious, but super super spicy, so beware. We shall try it one more time and ask them to reduce the spice some and we’ll see how we like it then! Love it nonetheless.

Food: 3.5 stars, Sushi 3 stars, service: 4.5 stars, ambience: 3, price setting: 3. This is a difficult place to review. People who work here are so nice, I really tried to like this place, but their food has hits and misses. Their sushi… As much as other Unilocalers say their sushi is fresh and delicious, mine wasn’t. I ordered a combo sushi that has nigiris and makis. Their raw fish was dry, stale, chewy, and not shiny. Their makis weren’t properly rolled, and they fell apart at the seams of nori when I poked on them with chopsticks. If I had sushi like these, I wouldn’t order anymore for more disappointments. Their general food… Their miso soup and salad with ginger dressing are good and refreshing. Ginger pork was good… It’s a hit, But katsu curry don was a miss. Curry sauce even didn’t have any meat chunks or veggies in it, and it was poured over the chewy flat katsu as if curry sauce came out from a pre-made pouch. Sorry, this is not a substantial nor satisfactory katsu curry in my book. Some Unilocaler mentioned that the kitchen food comes after the sushi if you order a combo, so maybe they are short on cooking staff. Ambient: it’s a small joint and set up like a Japanese dinner or so, so it’s not a spacious, relaxing, and enjoyable ambient. I can’t relax sitting at the seat right by the hallway where people constantly walk back and forth for the bathrooms and waitress pass by from the kitchen to drop off food. But it’s probably good for people who want a quick lunch and go. I don’t think they have wi-fi. Service: Again, people who work here are so nice. It can be worth a try or explorer their new dishes I haven’t discovered. But generally, I become a regular of restaurants who can serve all great dishes at any given time. I don’t want to gamble my money on hits and misses.

We came in this place for lunch because we need to return something in Home Depot, I ordered sake Ikura don, sushi rice in the bowl, salmon and salmon roe on the top, it costs $ 13.00 but they only offer 4pieces of salmon and it’s very thin, my husband ordered ramen, he said only one slice of pork and half of egg on the top, soup taste like cup noodle you can find in grocery store. We will never go back this place again. Just worse your money.

Tokyo SHOKUDO is a hidden Japanese gem in Duluth that can satisfy your craves. This is one of the very few authentic place that know what they’re doing. Owned by husband and wife, but their quality is top notch. Often had Japanese chefs and natives came in for food. If that doesn’t tell you, I don’t know what. The fried dishes are super good: Chicken Karaage is my fav. Also, all the a-la-cart sushi is mouth watering. Splurged ourselves with the Toro… omg, i’m craving as I’m writing this review. FYI, service can be slow if busy, given everything is freshly made, not pre-made and microwaved like most other Japanese places around(especially the cooked food).

I was disappointed at this place. First of all the service was very slow. I ordered bento box, and got the sushi and sashimi part first. The hot foods(salmon and tempura) and rice didn’t come until 15 min later. Second, I am not sure if I got salmon. It tasted and felt more like steelhead trout. Third, the tempura sauce was too salty, and the sauce on the salmon was missing«something.» Fourth, they have limited variety of dishes. I’m sorry but I would not call this place an authentic Japanese restaurant. Now there are some positive points to make. The sushi and sashimi were very good. Miso soup was very tasty. Also fried chicken(tori no tatsuta age) we ordered from appetizer menu was pretty good. Even though the service was slow(cooking took so long), the waitress was nice and she did her best. So if you are looking for a place to have some appetizers and sushi, I think this would be a wonderful place. However if you are looking for other Japanese dishes, you may be disappointed like I was.

I love this place! The chef is always such a nice guy who also makes the best Sushi in town! (You know it’s great sushi when the majority of the foodies are older Japanese people). What we love to order… Seafood salad(sashimi salad) is always on point! Bento box — a great deal with your choice of meat and rice, tempura, nigiri rolls, and sashimi(great bang for your buck) Spicy tuna rolls — his extra twist with sliced up jalapeños on top of each roll just makes this dish so addictive. Overall, It’s always worth a trip to dine at this restaurant! The service, food, and family feel of the restaurant will completely win you over.

We got here around 8:50PM on a Tuesday night. A friend mentioned it in passing saying it was solid sushi for a decent price and my friend and I happened to be in the neighborhood. Upon arrival, there were 2 other tables eating and we were told that there was no more sushi rice. If we wanted any rolls or nigiri, we might have to wait. Whatttt. Ok. We ordered salmon, tamago, sweet shrimp, uni, and toro(all nigiri), a spicy scallop roll, and assorted tempura. Everything was really good. Tempura was nice and crispy and hot/warm upon arrival to our table. They gave us each our own sauce to dip in(thankyouuuu). Sushi tasted decently fresh and the uni was so unexpectedly good that we got another order for the each of us. Toro was just ok. Meh. Sweet shrimp was also on point. They give you the shrimp head tempura battered and fried(no extra charge, I know some places do that). Service was excellent and they did not rush us at all to leave. Definitely will return and definitely will recommend to others. I’m a little bit reluctant to recommend to my friends only because I don’t want it to get super busy(jk) but of course I will. Seems like a mom and pop shop and I’m always an advocate of supporting small businesses. For the price point, service, and quality, def worth a visit!

I like the smallness of this place– it’s not too noisy and loud and gives a feeling of coziness even when it is empty. Pricewise, the sushi here is about on par with Haru Ichiban a few miles away, but I’d say their fish is better quality and their sushi better put together. They have a few decent lunch specials, but I was disappointed that their curry is for lunch only, and that they have stopped serving Okonomiyaki entirely.

Recently tried a bit of my friend’s curry katsu don last night — they made it as a special request and I am super grateful for Tomoko-san for the extra effort. The katsu kare was amazingly delicious and the closest thing that I have found to what I ate in Japan 6 – 7 years ago. Sauce: — not to watery, not too thick — not too flavorful(as in evenly mixed) and not too bland — good sized portion of pork cutlet — fair share of rice. — great flavors — awesome contender for lunch — $ 10 but I think it is worth it given its authenticity for taste. ごしそさま!
