History

Established in 1998.

Sugarloaf Eyecare was established in December of 1998 in a very growing Duluth area. Joni Dykeman started the business with her years of expertise. She started in the optical industry at the age of 16. She wanted to create a designer experience for people living in the northern Atlanta suburbs. Many of the frames found here can only be found in metro areas.

Mitch Christensen, O.D. joined the practice in 2004 and offers top notch full eye care. He has developed a loyal following because of his compassionate and straight forward bed side manner. He enjoys treating people, not just conditions.

Christine Laube, O.D. became an associate at Sugarloaf Eyecare in 2008. She takes great care of people as well, and serves as an excellent complement to Dr. Christensen.

Business Owner

Dr. Christensen grew up in a small town in North Dakota and knew from a young age that he wanted to become an optometrist. After graduating from the University of North Dakota, he went on to optometry school at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. After graduation, he and his wife, Amy, moved to Atlanta so she could study nursing at Emory. Georgia is now their home. Not many people can claim that they enjoy their job, but Dr. Christensen is very grateful that he can still say that he loves what he does.
