This company advertises rebates when purchasing Heartgard products for dogs. Now, keep in mind you can’t get the stuff unless you visit a vet, have a heartworm test on the dog and then buy the Heartgard from the vet if your dog is heartworm negative. Every year the dog needs to be tested to even buy the medication. So, this company advertises rebates through the vet offices when you buy a certain amount of Heartgard. Last year the rebate offered was $ 12 for a year’s worth of Heartgard. This year, they are advertising $ 25 if you buy Heartgard and their new flea product Nextgard. The problem with these rebates is that this company never just sends you a rebate. You have to jump through a bunch of hoops and some of what they require is not even available to you, like an itemized receipt. They could require the box, that would be doable, but no, they require some imaginary itemized receipt in a certain format that vet offices simply do not provide. I’m sure they already know that, since they work with vet offices all the time. They like to advertise a rebate they have no intention of honoring because you – the consumer– are not providing the necessary pieces of the rebate offer because they don’t exist! I am still owed the $ 12 rebate from last year. I’m sure I’ll be owed the $ 25 rebate for this year. I am $ 37 in the hole waiting on these alleged rebates. I am so sick of companies that advertise rebates to make it more palatable for you to choose their product over a competitor, but then they don’t honor that rebate offer because they’ve set the bar so high with arbitrary requirements that no one will«qualify». Again, the fact you have to see a vet to get it in the first place is really proof enough of purchase. Proof of vet visit and an empty box or the UPC code off the box or whatever should suffice. This company is advertising but not delivering on what they are promising. They are not operating in good faith and they are turning the pet meds arena into the same cash cow big pharma is using for humans.

After using a competitor’s product(K9 Advantix) for nearly 7 years, my veterinarian suggested I try Frontline. While using K9 Advantix, I NEVER saw a flea on either of my dogs(both live inside) or in my home. I used Frontline for the first time on July 31, 2011 and on August 21, 2011, to my horror I discovered that my dogs had fleas. I immediately used another dose of Frontline and had the exterminator visit the next day. When I visited the Merial website about the Frontline product, I read that Frontline is not a repellant but that fleas on the animal will die before reproducing. I find this unacceptable. After owning my dogs for nearly 7 years and being completely free of fleas in my home and on my dogs, I find this product to be inferior to K9 Advantix. My dogs have never even had a flea bite and now they both have bites! When I contacted Merial/Frontline about a refund, they explaind that the«Satisfaction Guarantee» only applies after three months of using the product. I explained that I found this unacceptable, as this meant that my dogs would have to live with flea bites and I would have to deal with fleas in my home for that period of time. I stated I wanted a full refund. Merial/Frontline refused to give me a refund. I then stated that I wished to be reimbursed for the cost of having my home exterminated monthly while continuing to use the product. Merial/Frontline stated that they would not do this. I do not wish to continue to use this product as I do not wish my dogs or home to be infested with fleas. I feel as though this company expects me to allow my dogs to be bitten by fleas and for the fleas to come into my home while waiting for the medicine to kill the fleas. I spoke with a customer service representative and when he offered no relief, I also spoke with a supervisor who offered no viable solutions.
